Still So Very Shy (Open)

Brynn was wondering around the school, her mind on nowhere in particular, when she found herself in the trophy room. Brynn walked around, facinated by how many awards and trophies were given out. She wondered if some of the students who participared in the battle would get an award down here. She was reading a particular trophy when she heard someone comming down the stairs. Though not scarred of people, Brynn was still terribly shy and hid behind one rather large trophies that hid her rather small frame.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius sometimes came to the trophy room to think. Not many people came here, so it was a good place to be alone. Of course, the last time he had been in the trophy room, he'd run into Amy and wouond up kissing her just in time to be caught by Kris. He still regretted it, because not only had he lost Kris, he had also lost Amy, who was now no longer speaking to him. Even Remus had stopped talking to him for a while, but, after the attack on Hogsmeade, he and his friend had mended fences.

But Kris was still hurting pretty badly, and he still felt terribly guilty about it. He was still trying to come up with a way to make things up to her, and that was why he made his way to the trophy room that day.

Sirius entered the room, and at first thought it was empty. But then he caught sight of a suspicious shadow coming from behind a large trophy. "Is anyone here?" he asked, his fingers moving toward his wand.

Brynn peaked out from behind the trophy to see Sirius Black, who was a year behind her. "Sorry," Brynn said shyly when she saw Sirius reach for his wand. "I...I didn't mean to scare you..." Though shy, she smiled at him and stepped out from behind the trophy, her hands in her pockets.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius smiled at the third year Gryffindor. Leaning against one of the shelves, he looked her up and down slowly. "You didn't scare me," he said. "After all, I wasn't the one hiding."

Idly, he picked up a small gold trophy and traced the name with his fingers. "Brynn, right?" he asked. "I've seen you around. How come you're always so quiet?"

Brynn nodded and shrugged. "Shy I guess.." she said quietly. She walked over to a bench near where Sirius was standing and sat down. "What brought you here?" she asked meekly.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius smiled brightly. "There's no need to be shy," he said. "You miss out on stuff when you hide like that. You should try to get to know people, talk to people. Experience life, you know?"

He walked over to the bench and sat down next to her, but not too close. "I come here sometimes to think. It's quiet. Not a lot of people come here. I kinda made a mess of things, and I'm still trying to figure out how to fix them."

Brynn shrugged again. She wasn't sure why she was so shy, that's just how she was. She knew Sirius was right though. "Messed up?" Brynn asked as Sirius sat down, giving him the oppertuninty to continue if he wanted to.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius laughed. "Hmmm... so apparently, not only do you not talk to people, you don't listen to gossip, either. Interesting."

He smiled at her. "I'm just kidding. I guess I just thought everyone heard what I did by now... My girlfriend caught me kissing another girl. Now neither girl will talk to me. And I just feel bad... like I should make it right. My friend James says I should leave it alone, though..."

[Brynn De Luca]

"Well who would you make it right by? Kris or Amy?" Brynn asked, blushing a little. Of course she heard gossip, but she rarely ever spoke it. "Cause I guess you can't really please both..." then Brynn bit her lip again, not sure if it was polite to continue.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius sighed. "No... no, I guess not. I wish I could, though, you know? Amy's reputation was ruined. People won't talk to her. And Kris... I just hurt her so badly..."

He trailed off and stared into the distance for a minute, thinking. "You want to know the ironic thing? That kiss with Amy... it was meant to be a goodbye kiss. I was telling her goodbye... that I wanted to be with Kris. And now I've lost them both, and I deserve it."

"Well, what did Kris say when you explained?" Brynn asked. Sirius was sort of the innocent bystander in all this, the peoson caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Brynn was curious if there was anything she could do to help either girls or Sirius. But she doubted it. Except for Angelo, who was still a new friend, and during some classes, Brynn hardly talked, and therefore not many people knew her, which would make her ability to help pretty sparce.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius shook his head. "She never let me explain. I've tried to talk to her so many times, but she won't listen to me at all. She refuses to have anything to do with me. In fact... she's sort of been hanging around my little brother a little bit."

He stopped and ran his hands through his hair. Maybe it all really was useless. He'd messed up, and there was no fixing it. He wasn't even sure he'd really tried all that hard.

[Brynn De Luca]

"But surely you're brother would help you explain, or her brother, Remus. You two are close friends..." Brynn offered. She thought it was stubborn that Kris wouldn't even listen to Sirius.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius actually laughed at this. "My brother? Help me? No... Regulus hates me. He does everything he can to pretend he doesn't know me. He's enjoying watching me suffer."

The subject of Remus was more complicated. "Remus... he's actually still kind of mad at me for it. He only started talking to me again after the attack. He refuses to get involved. I'm on my own for this."

[Brynn De Luca]

"I'm sorry you're all on your own..." Brynn said sincerely. "But in my experience, I believe everything turns out for the better in the end." she said. She wondered why Sirius' brother hated him. It didn't fase Brynn that some families argued. If she had a brother, Brynn would be so happy, she always wanted a sibling...

[Sirius Black]

He shrugged. "You're probably right. Things with me and Kris... they hadn't been right all year, really. I probably should have broken up with her sooner, but I didn't want to hurt her. Turns out I actually hurt her worse than I would have if I'd just ended it the right way."

It was frustrating, but he had to accept that sometimes the only thing that could heal a broken heart was time. And sometimes there was nothing you could do to make things right, except leave it alone. It was just hard.

"What about you?" he said. "What can we do to make you not be so shy?"

Brynn blushed and turned away slightly. But she did smile. She really didn't know why she was so shy, she had just always been that way. Brynn turned back to Sirius and shrugged. "I don't know," she said with a small laugh. "I'm always shy." she admitted.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius thought for a minute. "Maybe you should hang around me and my friends more often. My friend Remus, he used to be shy until he started hanging around us. Now, he's still quiet, but at least he's not afraid of people. What do you say? We'll get you talking quickly enough."

[Brynn De Luca]

Brynn smiled when Sirius offered for her to hang out with him and his friends. It would be rather nice to not be as shy as she was now. "Okay," she said. "Worth a shot right?" She giggled.

[Sirius Black]

"Cool," Sirius said. "I know the guys will be happy to have you around. Remus is nice to everyone, and Peter's shy like you. James... well, he's dating Robin Slater now, so he won't bother you much. Actually... I'm the one you should probably look out for. But I promise to be on my best behavior."

He grinned. "So what sort of things do you like to do? Do you like books, or sports, or drawing...?"
