Sean did as she directed him, being as gentle as possible with the girl. Lydia had a much clearer idea of the damage than Sean did, and he didn't want to be responsible for harming her more. No, ideally, he wanted to be responsible for helping to save her.
"I don't know how you guys do it," Sean said, his voice soft but still filling the silence. "You all must be so overwhelmed right now, and there are still people coming."

Adrienne quickly penned out a short note to Maia and charmed it to the small owlry they had. She knew she probably shouldn't ask the girl to come here, it would be dangerous, but she certainly wouldn't stop her if she tried. She knew her brother, and knew that he was going to be uptight and distracted until he saw for himself that she was all right.
Maia-
Chase is at the hospital and he is fine. He's worried about you though... please let us know you're okay.
-Adrienne
As soon as the letter was sent, she was back to assigning new victims to rooms and telling her healers who needed help first.

Lydia glanced at him for a moment before turning her attention to the girl's injury. He had kind eyes, filled with compassion, and she found a small smile appearing on her lips. "We do it because we have to. Because people need us. On a day like today, though... it would be a lot easier just to hide under a rock and not deal with it."
She applied the potion gently, then wrapped some gauze around the girl's head, in case she continued bleeding. Then she turned the girl back around, and, tipping her head back, poured a small amount of the potion down her throat.
"That should do it for now," she said at last. She grabbed the girl's chart and made a few notations. "We'll probably have to give her several more doses of the potion before we can see whether or not the damage will be permanent."
She looked at him again. "We'll contact the school and see if we can find out her name and contact information, but until we contact her family, would you like to be the contact person in case her condition changes?"
