Frank hated the idea of apparating while he was holding onto Alice, but there was no other way he could get to St. Mungo's quick enough. He did apparate from Hogsmeade before anything else could be thrown at them.
He was feeling more protective than he ever did before over Alice. Now, Frank knew that he was going to study twice as hard so that he would be ready in case something like that ever happened again, although he hoped it wouldn't. Naturally, he knew that it wasn't the end of the fighting, but he also knew that he could be more prepared.
Upon entering St. Mungo's, he didn't really see anyone at the moment. "Help me," Frank cried out. "She needs a healer, quick!"

The entire hospital was on high alert due to the attack over in Hogsmeade. Some healers had already been sent over to Hogwarts to help out in the hospital wing there, as it was the nearest safe place and the most likely place to go if injured. But some of the more fatally injured were being sent to the hospital in London. So Jedediah was prepared when he heard a boy call out for a healer.
Jed rushed to the boy who was carrying a girl, they obviously had been attacked. "What's happened here?" He lifted the girl's chin and looked at her coloring and pupils.

He was still looking around for a healer. A rush of relief hit him as he saw one coming toward him, however he was still worried. "She was attacked by a deatheater in Hogsmeade," Frank said. "I tried to help her, but the deatheater put a ring of fire around them and then Alice was crucioed. I'm not sure what else happened to her." Of course there was a worried tone in his voice.
Frank didn't really notice what all happened to Alice other than those two things. He was attempting to find a way to get Alice away from the deatheater at the time, but those were the two things that remained with him.

The girl was paler than she should be and her eyes wouldn't focus when he waved his lit wand in front of her face. "Alright, bring her over here." He ushered the boy into the spell damage wing and showed him which bed to lay her on. As they got settled, Jed stopped a passing nurse and told her what the boy reported. The nurse left to get papers for Frank to fill out.
"The Cruciatus Curse? We've been seeing that one a lot lately." Jed had meant this to be reassuring to the boy. Everyone at St Mungo's had experience dealing with Unforgivable Curses, even if there was some cases that nothing could be done. This girl, he doubted, would be one of those cases.
The nurse returned with a stack of papers. "Fill those out as best you can. We're going to take good care of your girlfriend." Jed bent over her and began running tests with a wave of his wand.

Frank followed the healer and placed Alice carefully on the bed. He reached out and held onto Alice's hand, even though it was limp.
He wasn't sure if he was reassured or not whenever the healer said that they had been seeing the Cruciatus Curse a lot lately. Frank was reassured in the sense of the healer knowing what he was doing, however he wasn't reassured in the sense of how many other people had that horrible curse thrown at them? How many people had become seriously injured because of it?
As the nurse returned with a stack of papers and a quill, Frank took them from her and slowly let go of Alice's hand so that he could fill out whatever paperwork he could. He nodded to the healer and took a seat beside the bed, not wanting to leave her side, as he filled out what he could.

Marlene arrived with Kingsley not long after Frank and Alice. She apparated directly into the lobby, Kingsley still unconscious on the ground, and Marlene kneeling next to him. Always trying to think logically, Marlene quickly stood up and levitated Kingsley's body before going up to the front desk. "I need a healer," she said. "We were in Hogsmeade... he got hit with a cruciatus curse."
The reception witch pointed her where to go, and Marlene led the levitated body of Kingsley into the same room where Frank and Alice were.
"Frank!" she gasped as she lowered Kingsley onto a bed. "What happened? Is Alice OK?"

As he finished filling out the paper work, Frank handed it to the nurse and returned to the chair beside Alice. He continued to just watch her, scared that he was going to miss her waking up.
Marlene's voice filled Frank's ears and he looked up. "Kingsley," Frank breathed. Now one of his other best friends were hurt. He frowned but the looked back to Marlene. "Alice will be alright according to the healer," he said. "She was attacked by one of those deatheaters. What about Kingsley?"

Danny came into the room just after Marlene and the boy she was with. One of the other healers was helping the unconscious girl, so Danny went to the boy, cutting off any reply that the girl might have given Frank.
She was already checking him for wounds, and his pulse and all of the regular things she would have to check anyway as she spoke to Marlene.
"Tell me what happened."

Marlene looked at Frank, then at the healer. When she spoke, it was to both of them at once. "He was hit with the cruciatus curse, I think," she said. "And some other spell that made him weak. I've never seen a spell like that before. I got him out of there as soon as I could, but he lost consciousness."
Although she looked and sounded calm, inside, Marlene was freaking out. All she could think about was the possibility that Kingsley might die before she had a chance to figure out how she really felt about him.

Jed finished up his tests, which resulted as he would have thought even before he started. There was nothing he could do for the Cruciatus Curse, they would only be able to wait and see how that progressed. But there seemed to be no severe lasting damages to her brain. Her lungs, however, were in need of attention and thankfully Jed could do something about that. He waited until Danny had pulled the blond girl's attention from Frank, then he addressed the boy. "She needs a potion for the smoke in her lungs, to unclog them. It's nothing major. There's nothing I can do for the Cruciatus Curse, but it doesn't look like it was strong enough to do any real damage. She'll need to stay here for observation for a few days." He looked down at the stack of papers the boy had been filling out. "Are you finished with those?"

Once the healer started to speak, Frank looked to him and nodded with what he said. "Alright. There is something you can give her for an pain she might feel from the curse, right? I don't really want her to be in any kind of pain." He hated the idea of Alice in pain. If he could trade places with her, he would.
At the mention of staying for a few days, Frank knew that that would be best. "Alright. Would it be alright if I stayed with her?" He didn't want to leave her either because he didn't want her to wake up and no one be there. "And yes, I'm finished with these. I filled out just about everything."

"We can try to ease her pain, but there's little to be done with an Unforgivable Curse. Its lucky, she looks like the attacker took it easy on her. The initial shock of the curse is over, it wont be as painful now, but I'll have the nurse get her a potion anyway." Jed took the papers from the boy and flipped through them, quickly glancing to make sure everything was filled in. "That's fine. Just sign in downstairs with registration and get a visitor's badge."

Elphias appeared just in front of St. Mungo's, he had used a few healing tricks he picked up over the years to keep Alastor alive as he levitated just behind him. Rushing through the front door of the hospital, he motioned towards Alastor and gave an all too familiar nod to the reception witch as she pointed towards Alastor's usual room. Dragging the near dead Auror, into the room Elphias carefully laid Alastor on the bed and canceled his spell, standing next to the bed Elphias grasped Alastor's hand, knowing the younger Auror was in for a bad surprise when he finally awoke.

Immediately after Claudia had given the order to retreat, Tristan had grabbed an injured child and apparated to an area a block away from St. Mungo's. In the deserted alleyway, he quickly changed out of his black hooded robe and mask, stuffing them in a nearby dumpster. Then he carried the child to St. Mungo's, bursting in the door.
Spotting the reception witch, he said in a hurried voice, "I was just in Hogsmeade. It's a disaster there... bodies everywhere! I rescued this one, but I think it might be too late for him already."
He shook his head, as if he was saddened by the horrible tragedy. "I'll take this one in and examine him... are there other patients as well?"
The reception witch nodded and told him that Alastor Moody had just been brought in, severely injured. Tristan was barely able to contain his smirk. "All right, I'll have a look at him in a minute."
The child, judging by the green robes, was a Slytherin, and looked to be in his fifth year. A quick examination proved him to be dead, killed by the killing curse. Tristan covered up the body, which would need to be identified by school officials. Then he headed into the room where Alastor Moody had been taken. "Hello, I'm Dr. Collins," he said to the elderly man at Moody's side. "What happened?"

Elphias turned his head as he heard someone enter the room, as the doctor introduced himself, Elphias smiled grimly. "Alastor got caught in a battle with one of the death eaters in Hogsmeade. He was beat up pretty badly, and some shrapnel managed to pierce his eye." Pointing at the shard of rock jutting from the right eye socket on Alastor's face, he turned back to the doctor and sighed. "Please tell me there is something that can be done?"

Tristan frowned and took out his wand. "Lumos," he said, causing his wand to light up. He leaned in and examined Moody's eye. "I'll be honest with you," he said after a few moments. "It doesn't look good. I can save him, but I have my doubts about the eye. I'll prep him for surgery and I promise I will do my best."
Tristan may have been a death eater, but when someone--even Alastor Moody--became his patient, that person would get the utmost in care while they still needed it. It was only after, during the healing process, that Tristan had been known to inflict new torture on them.

Elphias listened as Tristan began to examine Alastor, listening in silence as he gave a quick exam. It was times like these that his age began to wear on him, sighing quietly he nodded in response to Tristan. "Do your best Dr. Collins, after today the wizarding world can use a few more Alastor Moody's." As he walked to the door, he knew he had to go see how the others were doing. Stopping just in front of the door, he turned to Tristan once more, "Let me know as soon as Alastor is well enough to be moved.." As the last of the words left his mouth, he was out the door and on his way to find Albus Dumbledore.

Danny nodded to Marlene. "Okay. I'll do what I can for him, all right? The Cruciatus isn't normally life threatening." It depended on a lot of things, but if the boy was weak when the spell hit...
She could dull the ache he was probably feeling, but most of what she could do would have to wait until he woke up. She could hurry that along.
Meeting the girl's eyes as she worked, Danny said, "You're doing a wonderful job being calm, and I appreciate it, but if you need to get a little stress out... well, I won't blame you."

Sean stumbled into St. Mungo's, the third year girl that he found in the Three Broomsticks still in his arms.
The reception witch had a look of being completely overwhelmed, and he guessed that a lot of the patients were starting to pour in here and at Hogwarts.
"Ma'am, it's okay," Sean said, instantly taking on the calm, cool professionalism as a member of the MLE, thoigh inside he was torn up. He let the other girl die. His brother was still in Hogsmeade, and he didn't know what was going on with him. Pluss, he felt the emminant return of a headache, which only meant one thing, and he was trying to keep it at bay... at least until someone took the girl from his arms. He needed Dan.
The witch directed him to a room with beds and assured him a mediwitch or wizard would be with him shortly.

Post by Lydia Kenyon on Mar 12, 2009 23:50:03 GMT -5
The headache had lodged itself square in the middle of her eyes and wouldn't let go. Stress was high in St. Mungo's that day, with victims being brought in from Hogsmeade, and several of the healers helping out at Hogwarts with more victims. Everyone was being stretched to the limit. Lydia hadn't eaten a bite all day, not that her stomach could have tolerated the food anyway. She was clinging to every ounce of self control she had, just focusing on the job and trying not to care. But Merlin, it was hard.
She had just finished treating a second year boy who'd been badly burned in one of the explosions. With his blonde hair and blue eyes, coupled with the fact that he was the same age as her youngest brother had been when he died... All she could think about was Nicholas. Her baby brother, gone four years now.
But she couldn't allow herself to give in to the memories. Not now. Too many people needed her. Tonight, when she was alone with her cat, that was when she would cry. But not now.
Taking a deep breath, Lydia grabbed a clipboard and walked briskly into the exam room, where a young man, just around her age, was sitting with a young girl who looked about 13.
She approached him and extended her hand to him. "Hello. I'm Dr. Kenyon. What happened here?"
