Ever since Emily had told her about her surprise pregnancy and her official engagement to Vincent, Isabella had been planning the shower. These sorts of girly events were really not her thing, of course, so she had enlisted help from Cassidy and Evangeline, both of whom were friends with Emily and much more into girly things than Isa had ever been.
Cassidy, being good at cooking, was in charge of the food, while Evangeline was in charge of entertainment. Isa had no idea what people did at wedding showers or baby showers, so it was best to leave that sort of thing up to Evangeline. Decorations were also an issue, and for that she had turned to Angelique. Although things had been hectic for the head auror in recent weeks, she was glad to step in and do something easy, like decorate for a shower. Since it was a combination wedding and baby shower, the theme was a bit tricky, but Angelique came through brilliantly, with decorations of pink and blue and white.
All that was left for Isa to do was manage the guest list. She had invited all of the females in the auror department, along with several other women who worked in the Ministry. And of course, Rori was invited as well.
Before the shower was to begin, Isa gave Conor to Voltaire and kicked him out of the house. Then she and Rori began to put up the decorations that Angelique had sent over.

Rori was excited to be able to help Isa decorate the house for Emily. She attempted to stay out of the way of the adults. As Isa kicked Voltaire out of the house, Rori gave a giggle and waved bye to him and Conor. She returned to the decorations that Angelique sent over.
Naturally, Rori did her best as she helped decorate and made sure that decortations didn't overlap each other or anything like that. She was running around busy, then finally stopped as she finished with what she was currently working on. "What else do I need to do Isa?"

Isabella took a step back and admired the decorations. Everything looked beautiful, of course. She never would have been able to do any of this without Angelique and Rori. She knew nothing about themes or color schemes or any of this girly stuff. She was lucky that she had good friends she could turn to to help her out.
"Everything looks good," she said. "Thank you so much for your help, Rori."

Cassidy was the first to arrive. Of course, she had to be, since she was the one bringing all the food. She had packed a veritable smorgasboard of foods in a magically enhanced picnic basket, and was carrying it with her as she made her way to the cabin.
She knocked on the door and was let in by Isabella, who greeted her warmly and led her to the dining room, which had been set up with a long table.
Cassidy quickly unpacked the food, including a large pan filled with lasagna, a platter of sandwiches, a massive salad, a fruit salad, an impressive array of cookies, and of course, a huge sheet cake, which she had baked and decorated herself. She had also brought snacks, including chips and dip, salsa, and pretzels.
"There," she said when everything was laid out neatly. "Everything should be ready."

Amelia was excited when she received her invitation to Emily's Bridal/Baby Shower. She had met with Emily on several different occasions, usually work related ones, and the two women got on wonderfully. And at her brunch a few months back Amelia got great insight into who Emily was, well as much insight as one can during a large brunch. Straight away Amelia had gone out to find the perfect gift for the soon to be wife and mother. She was only a tiny bit jealous of Emily as she looked at the registry lists.
Amelia knocked on the door, a purple wrapped gift in hand. Inside the pretty box was a crystal serving dish, pre-enchanted to be baby resistant. She waited patiently, butterflies flitting around in her stomach.

Isabella may have been the hostess, but she felt practically useless. She wasn't good with decorations, with food, or with entertainment, so that she'd had to delegate all the work to people who knew what they were doing. Which left her to be little more than a figurehead of sorts.
At the knock on the door, Isabella realized the one thing she could do. Quickly, she rushed to the door and opened it to see Amelia standing there. "Ah, Ms. Bones!" she said enthusiastically. "Welcome! So glad you could make it. Please come in."

Suri was incredibley excited to be invited to something as nice as a baby shower. In her heart of hearts, she was glad that someone could continue on life through such dark times. Light topics could be discussed as if nothing had ever happened. Appeasement wasn't an answer, and Suri knew that. But pretending for at least an hour or two couldn't hurt, could it? She had always been a dreamer, and Suri couldn't wait to come over and see everyone.
Suri apparated over after informing her Jude where she was going. With an ornately wrapped set of baby clothes in her arms, she rang the doorbell. Emily was such a nice girl, and she deserved absolute happiness out of her life. Suri couldn't wait to see what she had been up to. She hadn't even known that Emily was pregnant! Suri would definately have to keep in better touch with Emily now.

Amelia smiled broadly as the door in front of her opened, revealing one of the professors of Hogwarts. Amelia had had a few interactions on occasion with Isabella, mostly in preparation for that tournament occurring at the school, and she was glad the woman remembered her name. "Thank you Isabella." She steeped inside the beautifully decorated home. "Where should I set Emiliy's gift?" Just thn she heard the crack of another guest apparating, and she added, "Nevermind. I'll find it."

Isabella smiled at Amelia. "I can take your cloak," she offered. "The table for the gifts is over there in the corner, and don't hesitate to help yourself to some of the snacks. I assure you, I didn't make any of them, so they should be good." There was a twinkle in her eye as she said this last bit.
She then moved on to greet the next guest, Suri Ferrera. "Hello, Mrs. Ferrera, welcome!" she greeted her. Again she offered to take the woman's cloak and directed her to the gift table and the food table.
So far, being the hostess was easy enough. She could handle this...

Isabella put Evangeline in charge of the 'entertainment'. To be quite honest, she didn't know the first thing about entertainment at a baby/wedding shower, however she did think of a few possible things that she noticed whenever she went through a few muggle magazines that could be entertaining.
Evangeline, with both arms carrying bags, arrived at Isabella's house. She reached up and knocked on the door the best she could manage.

Riley wasn't sure that going to a baby slash wedding shower was going to be... Well, fun. She'd been to these things before and honestly hated them. But the women from the ministry were all pretty nice, and she needed a break from Roland anyway.
She had two gifts in hand, one for the baby half and one for the wedding half, and appearred just behind another girl, saying hello as they both waited for the door to open.

Isabella opened the door yet again, and was relieved to see Evangeline. "Oh, good, I'm so glad you're here!" she said. "I really don't know what to do at these things... I've never even been to one. All this girly stuff is just not my thing, you know?"
She then turned her attention to Riley. She had not met the woman, but she was able to guess who she was pretty quickly. "Ms. Neves, right? Hi, I'm Isabella Rothschild. I'm so glad you could make it. Please come in and make yourself comfortable."

When the other woman showed up, Evangeline smiled and greeted her. Once the door opened, Evangeline turned her smile to Isabella. "Isa," she said stepping in. "I honestly think that you're doing just fine." She walked to were all the other things were placed and put her gifts down with the rest of them, and then carried the other bags and put them carefully on the floor.

Andi was thrilled to receive the invitation to Emily's shower. Since being disowned, she knew she would miss out on all the girly events for her sisters. She had always envisioned throwing a wedding shower for Narcissa, but now she'd never get that chance. Even though Narcissa would have wanted her there, she would not have been able to attend.
So at least she had other friends she could go to such parties with. She didn't know Emily well, but she'd always thought she was a nice person. And this would give her the chance to talk with other women from the Ministry. Now that she was back together with Ted, she was in a better mood, and more willing to make new friends.
As she arrived at Isabella's cabin, she knocked on the door and waited for an answer.

There was another knock on the door, and Isabella had to take leave of Riley and Evangeline to open the door yet again. "Andromeda!" she said brightly. Since Andi had been working at the school, Isabella had come to know the eldest Black sister very well. It was a good thing Bellatrix was doing such a good job as her assistant, or Isa would have regretted her decision to choose her over Andromeda.
"Please come in and sit down. You know everyone, right?"

Andi smiled and gave Isabella a quick hug. "Hi, Isabella! It's good to see you... thanks for the invitation. Yes, I know everyone, I think."
She moved into the small, cozy cabin, magically enlarged for the occasion, and placed her gift for Emily on the table with the others. Then she looked around and spotted Riley Neves. She smiled to herself, glad to see that Riley had decided to join. She had been rather hoping to get to know the woman, ever since her now-legendary battles with her partner had brought her to everyone's attention.
"Hi, Riley," she said, smiling brightly. "I'm so glad you were able to come."

Riley nodded to Isa. "Yes, I'm Riley," she said, impressed that she knew. She moved inside and set the gifts on the table, sort of hesitant after that. She didn't really know anyone very well... again, it was her own fault. She was young and should have been a little less invested in work. she'd never been that kind of person though.
Before long, however, Andromeda came up to her, and she gave the other Auror a smile. "Hi Andromeda. I didn't want to miss the Minister's fiance's bridal shower," she said, as if she felt the need to explain why she had come. "How are you?"

Andi smiled. "Yeah, same here. I haven't really been to many of these things before... It's kind of not my thing. Especially now that I'm split from my sisters. But I'm doing good, now that Ted and I are back together. How have you been? I've been kind of out of touch with things at the Ministry since I've been at Hogwarts."
That, of course, wasn't entirely true. Ted had been getting her caught up on things around the office. But she didn't want to seem like she was gossiping or nosy, so she decided not to say anything. She really wanted to be friends with Riley; she felt like they had a lot in common.

"Not quite my thing either," Riley agreed. The girly things were never quite her thing, and that probably stemmed fromm having a brother and mostly male friends. She didn't mind it, but she was a little curious about today. To be honest, it was the first one of these she had ever been to, minus her mother's wedding shower for her second marriage.
"I've been doing all right... just really busy with Katie's case. I'm glad you and Tonks worked things out, though."

Andi smiled. "Thanks. I am, too. We were both just being stupid, you know?"
She motioned over to some chairs that were set up along the wall, so that they would be out of the way when the other guests arrived.
"I've actually been meaning to talk to you for a while now... no pressure or anything, but you know... it's hard to be a young woman in the Auror department. We always have to deal with people not taking us seriously. I feel like we ought to stick together."
