"Molly..." She repeated, and then her face lit up with recognition. "Molly Prewett, that's right. I remember her... she was just a year or two behind me." She remembered Fabian from school as well, but she couldn't remember how far ahead of her he and Gideon had been.
She blushed at his question, but what harm was there in flirting? She had almost denied thinking he was cute, and that was exactly why she spent her Friday nights at the office. "The fact did help. I figured, even if you were a creep, you'd be nice to look at."

Fabian noticed her blushing and he thought that was cute. "Oh, well that makes me feel better," he said laughing. "Even if I was a creep, I'd be nice to look at. That's the first time I ever heard anything like that. However, you don't have to worry about me being a creep. I wouldn't just follow you everywhere, although I might be caught looking at you but there's nothing wrong with that, is there? You don't have some macho boyfriend that will come out of nowhere and attack me because I'm sitting here talking to you, do you?"

Riley laughed again... something he seemed to be able to get from her quite easily. More often than not, people earned a roll of her eyes instead.
"No... no macho boyfriend to be worried about. No effiminate boyfriend, either, come to that," she added, shrugging a little. She didn't ask if he had a girlfriend... she assumed he didn't, and if he did, she really didn't want to know right now. "Would it send you running if I did, though?"

He gave her a look of relief. "Well, that does make me feel better," he said smiling. Fabian would feel guilty for flirting with a girl that already had a boyfriend. "Well, that would depend on how big he was, and how fast, but I could probably take him. You might have a paralyzed boyfriend, but I could take him." He grinned.
Fabian liked to hear Riley laugh. It seemed to be refreshing. Usually, if he said something, Gideon or Molly would just look at him.

Riley nodded. "Fair enough. If I ever do get a boyfriend, for your sake, I'll make sure he's small and slow, all right? Then you wouldn't even have to work that hard to take him."
Oh a whim, Riley decided to do something daring. She took risks like this in her personal life... it was just work where she was so straight laced, and Fabian was making her forget about work more and more.
"If I buy another bottle of that wine," she said, her eyes twinkling now with her smile, "Would you want to come over tonight and test it out with me?"

"Sounds good to me," he said laughing. "That is very considerate of you." He gave her a wink. Fabian was enjoying himself as their conversation continued. It wasn't that often he sat down and just talked to a girl outside of the office.
"If I didn't know any better Ms. Neves, I would think that you were sort of asking me to come home with you," Fabian said grinning playfully. "And my answer to that would be I suppose I wouldn't mind. After all, you are inviting me to have some of my favorite wine. I couldn't really decline that offer."

"Oh, well, I'm glad to know it's the wine that convinced you," Riley said, playfully rolling her eyes.
She wasn't sure Fabian would get anything more than conversation and wine out of her, but who knew? She liked him and the night was young.
"I am asking you to come home with me, and even if it is only the wine that convinced you, I'm glad you said yes."

"That's not the only deciding factor," said Fabian. "Sure, there's the wine, but it's not everyday a nice, pretty, woman asks me to come home with her for anything." He gave her a wink. Of course, Fabian wasn't expecting anything more than a great conversation with a person that he could get along with.
"And why would you have any doubts that I would say no to that? I was even thinking about walking you home anyway. I know you could take care of yourself, but it doesn't hurt to be friendly, does it?"

"Well, it is dangerous lately, so it's very sweet of you to offer, really," Riley countered. She could take care of herself, and anyone who tried to hurt her would find themselves on the receiving end of a very painful curse.
Moments like this just proved she needed to surface from work, sometimes. "The invitation is open, whenever you're ready," she told him, in no hurry because she was still sipping her butterbeer.

"I'm not in a huge hurry, unless you are. I'm still not quite finished with my butterbeer surprisingly. Usually by this time, I've finished at least one and a half." He smiled again. Fabian heard that Riley was quite the workaholic, but today, she seemed nothing of the sort. She seemed to be laid back and he enjoyed that kind of personality.
Riley did respond to his comments, and that was another thing he enjoyed. He had a feeling that she wasn't doing it just to amuse him.

"I'm barely even halfway through mine," Riley agreed, and took a sip as if to emphasize the point.
"So both you and your brother work at the Ministry... does your sister too? Is it a family thing?" She knew several sets of siblings that stayed together, and worked together or close enough. Even Roland, his parents, his brother, and at least one cousin were all Aurors. It made her miss family sometimes, to be honest.

"Yeah, Gideon and I work at the Ministry, but Molly does something different. She works as a waitress at Le Repas Cher. Molly had to be the odd ball, but it's sometimes fun to go in and mess with her." Fabian grinned widely. "Giving her a hard time is one of my specialities." He laughed.
"What about your family? Do you have any brothers or sisters?"

Riley laughed lightly. "What are brothers for, if not giving their siblings a hard time?"
He was good at turning the conversation around quickly, and they had each had their fair share of talking. It was nice not to have to do all the talking, but still be able to get a word in.
"I'm an only child, actually. Well, kind of. I have an older brother... step brother... but I barely even know him, so I don't usually count him. He lives with the rest of my family in Portugal."

"Portugal? That's a beautiful country. I actually went there once. I was following some lead, but what I actually saw of the country was nice. Hopefully one of these days when times are not as hectic as they are, I'll be able to go back and vacation." Fabian smiled.
"So you're in England alone?" Fabian wasn't sure how he would be without his brother or sister somewhere near. "I have to admire you for that as well. I don't know how well I would last."

"It is a very beautiful country, and I would reccommend visiting when you're not working. The people alone are worth it," Riley told him. "They're lovers and fighters...friendly and passionate. They're a kick." She would be lying if she said she hadn't inherited some of those traits.
"I am here by myself, but I don't mind. My dad moved away to Merlin only knows where, and my mom and step dad stayed in Portugal. I sort of liked London from Hogwarts, so I decided to stay here. "Where else have you been?" She asked, genuinely interested.

Fabian listened with interest. "I imagine you're the same," he said in sort of a question/statement.
"London is quite nice, but then again I've lived here my whole life, excluding the times I've travelled. I've been to parts of Sweden, Sicily, and America. Of course, all three were on jobs. There was once I went on vacation, which I went to Egypt. It's nice there, although its pretty hot."

Riley didn't confirm or deny his statement, but just smiled a little.
"Well, that brings up an excellent question," she said, leaning forward to show that she was engaged in the conversation. "Why did you choose Egypt, of everywhere in the world, for you vacation? I'm not saying it's bad... I've never been. I'm just curious."

"Well, I personally like the pyramids and the history surrounding them," Fabian said. "It's just fascinating. Plus, it was a family vacation. My parents, and siblings went. I wouldn't mind going back there to be honest. I think that you'd like it there, that is if you like pyramids." He smiled.
"Where have you traveled to?"

Riley honestly couldn't imagine her entire family on a vacation like that together. They were a highly volatile bunch when kept in close quarters for any length of time.
"I've been to the States, Italy, France, Czechloslovakia. All on business, but I went backto each of them on my own time. You just miss something when you're supposed to be working, you know?"

"Czechoslovakia? That is on my list of places to go. I know what you mean. You miss all the little things that make the countries so interesting. Maybe one of these days I'll have enough time to go and check out the places I want to." Fabian gave shrug.
"Maybe I'll go to Ireland or something the next weekend I have off." He smiled and took another sip of his butterbeer. "You know, you're much more laid back than what I've heard about you. It's nothing bad, I promise. I've just heard you're quite the workaholic, and I don't blame you for that, I'm the same way."
