Zander headed off into the forest in search of the cave where Ashura had said she spent most of her time. He realized too late that he probably should have asked Karl or Skye for help. They knew the forest much better than he did. He wandered around for a while, trying to find the caves.

Ashura sat outside her cave when she heard someone walking. She stood up looking around trying to see if she could spot the person. The scent she smelled was familer but she couldn't place it.

Zander finally found the caves and approached them carefully. He stopped to sniff the air to make sure no bears or anything were in the area. He scented something familiar, but he was sure it wasn't a bear, so he walked closer. "Ashura?" he said in a low voice.

Ashura let out a sigh of relief. "Zander?" She stepped towards the voice then smiled as she saw Zander. "What brings you out here?"

"He...he does? Did he say why? I mean he always seemed distant when I ran into him." Ashura was very confused. Why did he want to talk to her now? Will he run from her again?

"He said something about saying goodbye. He says his life is in danger, so he has to leave for a while." Zander shrugged. "I'll understand if you don't want to talk to him, or if you want someone with you when you do it. But I think he's sincere this time. He's in love... and I know from experience what that can do to change a person."

"All right," Zander said. "I'm going to keep an extra eye out to make sure we aren't followed. Sully says the person who's out to get him is another werewolf, someone named Gretchen. I've never heard of her, have you?"

"No, I haven't. I was always alone." Ashura said her eyes still on the ground. She could walk these woods with her eyes closed, that's how long she had been there. "I didn't even know there were other werewolves, besides the one that bit me."

"OK," Zander said. "Well, we should keep an eye out, anyway. I'm not sure she knows about you... but, well, Sully didn't tell me very much. But I'm pretty sure I believe what he was saying. I told him that you were under my protection."

Ashura nodded, she envied Zander and Sully for finding love. "You're lucky, you know, having someone to love that loves you back. I've never had that, never had anyone."

Zander ducked. "Thanks." He glanced back at her. "You're a lovely girl. I'm sure something will happen for you sooner or later. You just have to not be afraid of it. Let it happen."

"It's no problem. I know these woods I don't even have to see to walk around." Ashura smiled slightly and blushed as he complimented her. "I'm not really scared, I just don't know who would want to be with someone that steals clothes from houses, or someone that lives in a cave." She sighed, sure she was pretty but she just couldn't see anyone wanting to be with her. She was more worried about being rejected then anything.

When I first met Karl, he was dirty and scruffy and walked around wearing clothes that hung off of him in huge, ripped sheets. Now he and Chloe are in love... and he's started bathing and wearing actual clothes for her... Don't ever count yourself out."

"Maybe, and I try not to, I try not to think about it, but everytime I see a wolf family go by it makes me wonder. I mean, I'd love to have a family someday but not where they live like me." Ashura spoke quietly as if it was some sort of secret.

"Ok..." Ashura said before falling silent. She started thinking about why her brother would even bother telling her he was leaving. He didn't want to talk before, at least that's what it seemed to her.
