Leo appeared to think that over for a minute. "Well, I really like poetry," he said. "Particularly stuff like Byron and Shelley. I like Tennyson, too, and Walt Whitman. My favorite book is actually just a book of poetry. When I'm confused or upset... I don't know, it sounds weird, but I find it comforting. Does that make any sense? And in terms of music, I really like Bob Dylan."
He paused to take a breath. Now was his chance to ask Rori about her favorite book. "What about you? What's your favorite book?"

"Poetry is pretty nice, although I have to admit I haven't really read a lot of it. I've heard of Whitman, Shelley, and Tennyson. I think my favorite by Tennyson is "Lady of Shalott"." Rori smiled. The idea that Leo liked poetry was something that made her like him even more. She didn't think that most guys would really admit that they liked poetry.
"Music wise, I like a little bit of Creedance Clearwater Revival. And my favorite book? That's a tough question." She bit her bottom lip as she tried to think of a book that she really liked. "I really like Gulliver's Travels, however I think that Wuthering Heights has to be my favorite."

Leo smiled. Wuthering Heights. That one should be easy enough to find. He'd make sure to tell Bellatrix about it as soon as possible. He couldn't wait to see Rori's face when he presented her with the surprise. He wanted to impress her with his thoughfulness and generosity.
"Cool," he said. He was still interested in finding out more about her, so he continued. "What other things do you like? Any muggle movies that you've seen?"

"Well, I like sunny days but strangely I also like thunderstorms. Seeing the lighting dancing in the sky is always pretty. As long as the storm is not really bad I like it. The rain is nice too. I'm not a huge fan of the cold, but I do like snow. I think the small things are the best because its the thought that counts." Rori tried to think of other things that she liked. "I love this stuffed monkey I have in my room that I've had for as long as I can remember." She smiled at him sheepishly.
"As for movies, I've never seen one." Rori gave a small shrug. "What about you?"

Leo listened with interest to each thing she said. It was like he was adding them to a mental list in the back of his mind. She sparkled, like the sunlight glistening off of raindrops in the grass. It made him smile.
But her last comment shocked him. His eyes widened. "What? You've never seen a movie before? At all? That's a tragedy! Movies are the best... you can just sit back in the dark while the story plays out on the screen in front of you.... you can eat popcorn and candy and drink sickeningly sweet sodas.... it's like, the best thing ever. I have to take you to a movie sometime. Do you think your cousin would let you?"

Rori never had anyone to go to a movie with. Usually Voltaire was with Isa, and Rori didn't know what he would say if she wanted to go to a movie, besides she didn't want to bother him if he was with Connor or Isa. She usually kept herself busy if she wasn't around her friends.
"Really?" The idea of popcorn, candy, and sickening sweet sodas sounds wonderful, well okay, maybe not the sickening sweet sodas, but the other stuff did. "Oh, Voltaire? I'm sure that he wouldn't really mind. He might want to go along." Rori giggled quietly. "But I don't think he would mind. It wouldn't ever hurt to ask."

Leo was thoughtful for a minute. "I guess the real problem would be finding one to go to. There's a movie theatre in Hogsmeade now, but I don't really know what it's like, because it's a wizarding one. You've got to go to a real muggle movie theatre, you know? If the wizarding one is different, then I don't know if you'll get the full experience. I know there are some good ones in London, though. I wonder if your cousin would mind you going to London to see a movie."

"It wouldn't hurt to ask him." Inside, Rori was pretty giddy. She had never been to the movies, nor had she really be asked to really go somewhere with a guy unless it was just to Hogsmeade. If they did go to the movies, Rori had a feeling that Voltaire would probably enjoy himself.
"I can stop by and ask him after we're done here. I don't think he would really object, but then again you never know about Voltaire."

Leo was feeling pretty giddy himself. He had accidentally stumbled on something he could do with Rori that would be fun and different. Well, for her, anyway. He was already envisioning taking her to London, seeing a movie, then talking about it as they walked down the street, then going out for pizza before heading home... It sounded so perfect. He didn't even mind if it had to be chaperoned... he just wanted to spend the day with her doing something fun.
"That would be great," he said excitedly. "I'll have to do research and try to find out what movie we could see."

"I trust you to pick out something good," she said smiling. Rori could just imagine Voltaire walking with them around London. The image to her almost sent her into giggles, but she was sure that he would have some kind of fun.
"What are more interesting muggle things to do?"

Leo considered this for a minute. "Well, muggles seem to like escaping into other worlds. They like stories. Have you ever seen muggle TV? They have some very good TV shows. And plays are fun, too.... a little more formal than movies. The players perform a story on a stage in front of you. Um... and some of them have singing in them, they're called musicals. There's also opera and ballet, but those can be hard to get into."

Rori nodded at the mention of a muggle TV. She had seen one before but she hadn't really sat down and watched it. "I've heard of ballets and operas," she said. "Ballets are just music and dancing as a story is being told, right? And Operas are like musicals in a way?"
Muggles did seem to be fascinating. She had seen posters in London about ballets, operas, and plays. Maybe she could have the chance to go to one one day.

Leo nodded. "Yeah, that's pretty much it," he said. "I've seen one ballet... the Nutcracker. It's sort of a Christmas tradition, to go see the Nutcracker. I've seen it three times... I'm only just starting to appreciate it, really. Opera, on the other hand... I'm told it can be really beautiful, but what I've seen and heard of it, I don't really care for. Most operas are in Italian, so I can't understand them. Anyway, they're usually pretty formal events; you have to dress up for them and everything...."

Dressing up wouldn't be too bad, well at least in Rori's mind at the time. "I've never seen the Nutcracker, but I have heard music from it before. It was from a record that was in the room of requirement once." Opera's didn't really seem like something she would like but then again she wasn't for sure. Maybe one day she could go to one, as well as a ballet, and see what it was really like. Maybe she could talk Voltaire and Isa into going to one one day.
"What other things do you like?" "

Leo was thoughtful for a moment. "Well, the other thing muggles like, that wizards would probably understand, is sports. I mean, Quidditch is cool, but muggles have so many other different sports that are cool, too. There's football... it's sort of like Quidditch, except without the bludgers and the snitch and the flying, of course. Like how the chasers have to knock the quaffles through the rings to score... well, in football everyone's trying to get it through this big net, and they have someone to block it, like a keeper would do. There's also basketball, and hockey... they're kind of the same idea, only in basketball, the goal is a hoop that's hanging above the players, and there's no one to block it. And in hockey, they skate around on ice. And there are other sports, too... like baseball and cricket and rugby, and there's an American version of football that's totally different... It's pretty cool to see the different kinds of sports that muggles have created, and people who play them have to be really physically fit."

"Football sounds like it would be fun," she said with interest. Basketball didn't sound like it would be of any interest to her. Hockey sounded like it would be entertaining. "Have you ever been to one of the football games?" Rori's attempts at studying were completely gone. She was far more interested in what else was going on rather than whatever books were supposedly in front of her.
"What is rugby like? I've heard of baseball and I do sort of like that. I haven't seen a lot though."

"I've been to a few football games. It's fun. And I like baseball, too... it's a lot like cricket. Rugby is kind of like American football... A little different, but it's a rough game. It's not my favorite."
Leo liked the way her eyes lit up with interest as he was talking to her. She had a sort of natural curiosity and it was rather contagious. he hoped, no matter what happened, she would never lose that energy and enthusiasm.

"Maybe I can talk Voltaire into going to a game one day, although he doesn't really seem like he would enjoy it too much but I could be wrong." Rori didn't think that Voltaire would enjoy going to a game like baseball or football, but it wouldn't hurt to ask, would it? "Maybe you could go too." Of course they couldn't just go off alone to a game like that, not yet anyway. "And I think you would have to explain a few things as the game went on." Rori gave him a sheepish look.

Leo couldn't help but laugh at the idea of Voltaire sitting in a stadium watching a football game. He didn't even seem like the type that would like Quidditch. He would probably like something more eccentric and refined, like dueling and fencing.
"I wouldn't mind explaining them to you. You know, if we happened to go to a sports game."

The idea of Voltaire going to a game was fairly amusing. Just picturing him there in the mists of hundreds of muggles watching a game, just seemed to make Voltaire stand out even more. Rori wasn't sure how well the idea of going to a sports game would go with Voltaire. She wasn't even sure how well he was going to handle her asking him if they could go to London with Leo. However, she would never know until she asked, and Rori would find out because she was determined to do so.
Rori blushed lightly. "Thank you," she said. "I understand just a little bit of baseball but not much. Football, if you said it's like Quidditch then I could understand it a little too but there'll probably be a few areas that I wouldn't understand." She hadn't had the opportunity to really go to any sports events, with the exception of Quidditch.
