((I didn't know where Jensen lived...))
Lina had never meant to leave Cyrus, and she felt so guilty for taking Mara with her. It had only been a threat, and then he had pushed her, and she just walked out. And Merlin, she wanted to go back but she couldn't. She could not keep going back if she ever wanted him to learn anything or to change.
But this wasn't what she wanted. She was crying, holding the unhappy Mara in her arms and a diaper bag slung over her shoulder.
She knocked on Jensen's door, wishing that she would turn around and Cyrus would be there, but he wasn't.

Jensen was in his kitchen finishing up his sandwich for dinner. He got up from his table after finishing and was cleaning up the crumbs whenever he heard a knock on the door. He was slightly confused at who it could have been, but he went to the door nevertheless.
Opening the door gently to peek out, Jensen opened it fully and quickly when he noticed it was his sister and Mara. "Lina," he said noticing her sobbing. He knew right away that something had happened between her and Cyrus, but he wasn't going to push it. If she wanted to tell him what happened then she would tell him when she wanted to. Jensen ushered her into his apartment. "Come in, come in," he said gently.

Lina came in, and when the door was closed behind her, she held Mara out towards Jensen. "Please take her," she whispered. "I can't..."
She didn't finish that sentence, but her wide, shiney eyes were on Jensen, begging him to take the child from her arms. She needed to break down, she needed... well, she needed to be a 19 year old girl for a few minutes, and she couldn't do it with Mara in her arms. It was times like this when she remembered she was just a kid still, and she felt guilty for not knowing how to be an adult when Mara should be the child.

Lina didn't have to say another word. He knew that Lina needed time for herself a moment, and Jensen quickly and gently took Mara from her. He looked down at the little girl and smiled. "Hey pretty girl," he said to her before looking to his sister.
Jensen carefully bounced Mara in his arms gently. "If you want that bedroom in there, everything is clean, or you can just take the couch. Whatever you want to do, feel free. Is there anything else you need me to do?"

She realized she was shaking as soon as Mara was taken from her. She didn't understand what was happening. She had just meant to get away for a night because she was so angry at Cyrus, but then things happened, and worst of all, he let her go. What hurt worse than walking away from him was knowing that he wasn't even fighting to get her back.
She sank onto the couch and pulled her knees to her chest. She adored Jensen for not asking questions, and just accepting that she needed him.
She shook her head. "I'll just take the couch," she said softly, numb.

"I'll get you a blanket for right now," he said walking with Mara to the hall closet. Jensen carefully balanced Mara in his arms as he used one hand to pull on a blanket and carried it back to Lina. "I'll go show Mara the room since I finished putting everything together and stuff. If you need me for anything, just let me know, alright?"

Lina just nodded numbly, quiet. She waited until Jensen and Mara were out of the room before she finally allowed herself to break down. It was not something she wanted Mara to witness.
She trusted that when Jensen came back to her, Mara would not be with him, and she didn't mind her brother seeing her like this.
She just felt lost, and curling up in that blanket wasn't helping the terrible feeling that she had just made a terrible mistake.

Mara was being carried into another room. SHe knew this house, she'd been here a few times. She had even gone to sleep for a bit, so she didn't feel enormously uncomfortable. But Mara still felt the nagging unconscience of the woman upset. It made MAra extremely upset, but knew she shouldn't make more of a fuss then she already had. Screaming into the night had just made the woman more tense.
The man holding her was kind for all the previous encounters, and Mara liked him. She was feeling a bit exhausted, and snuggled closer to the man's chest. Not knowing what to do next, Mara's eyes fluttered shut and she fell into a light sleep.

Jensen smiled as Mara's eyes seemed to get heavy. He carefully laid her down in the crib and pulled her purple blanket to keep her warm. He watched her for another moment. "Sleep well Mara," he whispered. Jensen turned off the light in the bedroom and cracked the door.
Walking back into the living room, he looked to Lina. Jensen didn't mind if she cried in front of him. He walked over to the couch and sat down at Lina's feet. "Mara's fast asleep," he commented as he looked to his sister.

"Good," Lina sniffled and nodded her head. "I hate when she sees us fight. I want her to think her daddy and I love each other... but I don't know how to do that for her anymore."
She shook her head and cried a little harder. "I can't do it, anymore, Jensen, and you can't say I didn't try. I've tried so hard to make it work between my and Cyrus."
She slid down next to her brother, resting against him. She was tired of being strong. She needed someone to lean on for once. "He let me leave. He didn't even fight for me to stay."

Jensen put his arm around Lina and allowed her to cry. He knew that she needed to let it out, and he wasn't going to stop her. "Maybe he just knows that he needs to think about this," said Jensen. "I know that you two love each other more than anything. I've seen it. Maybe now he is going to realize how much he needs you. I feel sure that he is going to come after you."
He was just going to comfort her as much as he could. "Just give it time Lina. Plus, you know that you can stay for however long you need."

"I don't think I want him to come after me, Jensen. He's had enough time to think about things, enough time to make a decision. I did it; he can too. I'm done."
She loved Cyrus enough that she had given up her family to be with him, her parents at least. She now realized that he couldn't do the same, and she would be miserable, waiting her whole life for it to happen.
"I need to stay here a while, if you'll let me. Just until I can figure things out."

He knew better than Lina having given up on Cyrus. Jensen knew that there was some part of Lina that wanted Cyrus to come after her. "Well, maybe that you're gone, he'll realize that he has been waiting for too long. You never know Lina."
Jensen knew how much Lina loved Cyrus and knew that he just took forever to ask her to marry him. Maybe Cyrus would come around and figure out what he needed to do.
"Of course you can stay Lina. You can stay forever long you need to, you know that. It's just me living here. I don't mind the company."

"Thank you," Lina told Jensen. She didn't know what she would do if Cyrus didn't come for her. The only thing that hurt worse than letting go was knowing the person you let go wasn't fighting to hold on.
"I'll start looking for a part time job, maybe, and my own apartment..." She stopped and pulled away to look at Jensen. "Are you still looking for help around the shop?"

"Don't worry about finding your own apartment," said Jensen. "You can stay here and you don't have to pay rent, besides Mara has everything she needs here. Don't worry, you won't be intruding on anything." He was going to do the best he could to accomadate Lina and Mara. If they were comfortable staying there, then he was more than happy to let them.
"Yes. I actually still need the help. I haven't really found anyone that really wanted to work."

"Hire me," Lina asked, her tears drying if only because she was forcing herself to think of anything other than Cyrus right now. "Please? I'll work hard, and I can find Mara a babysitter." She didn't want to, but if Cyrus wasn't going to come for her, she would have to figure out how to be a working, single mother. She wanted to give Mara the best of everything, and if that meant finding a job and a babysitter, then so be it.
She didn't bother to argue right now that she might need to figure out how to stand on her own feet. She didn't want to think too much on it.

"Alright. You're hired since I know that you will work hard. You can start working tomorrow if you like. Since its the first day, you can bring Mara along. It's not going to hurt anything right now. She'll be able to keep herself amused and everything and we can help keep her amused between customers. We'll work on finding a sitter soon." Jensen didn't mind having Mara in his shop. It wasn't like she was going to cause a huge distraction. Mara was a good baby and of course, Mara couldn't be there all the time, but he could make a few exceptions for the time being.

"I will work hard, I promise," Lina said, the look in her eyes desperate. "And I can find Mara a babysitter. I don't want her to bother anyone. I mean, she's well behaved, but she's still a baby, and you can't expect her to be perfect." Her words were running together, and she was on the verge of breaking down again.
"Let me pay you for rent. Or I'll work for it. Really."

"Don't worry about Mara being around for just one day, it will not hurt anything. It will give us better time to find a sitter. We'll work on that during lunchtime tomorrow. I know a few people that come into the shop and I'll let you meet them and they could be potential sitters," said Jensen. He noticed that Lina was about to start crying again.
"And if you continue to insist, you can just work for your stay. That's all I require, no payment is necessary."

"I'm going to insist," Lina told him. "I don't need charity, even from my brother. I can work for what I need, you know. I just... I need to figure out what to do if Cyrus doesn't get his act together."
She sighed, and then took another deep breath, trying not to cry again. "I know it's not me, Jensen... but why can't Mara and I be enough for him?"
