Out In The Chilly Weather (Emmeline)

[Rori Logan]

"We just talk and stuff. Sometimes we study together or something." Rori gave a shrug. She hadn't ever really put to much thought into the fact that they hadn't been on a 'date' yet.

Her eyes widened slightly. "Me ask him on a date?" Rori was a little bit old fashioned and she always thought that the guy was supposed to ask. However, the more she thought about it, the more she realized that she could do something like that. A smile came to her face. "Maybe I will ask him."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline gave her a warm smile and nodded. "I know. I know. I like it when the guys ask too, but sometimes they need a push in the right direction. Maybe if you ask him and he says yes, he'll know from now on that you want to and he'll start doing the asking." Emmeline shrugged. "Or maybe, I'm just to impatient and I want things done when they need to be done...Where's your favorite place?"

[Rori Logan]

"At school my favorite places are here and the library. Although, outside of school, I'm not sure. I like the little stores and stuff, but I don't think that those qualify as decent places for a date." Rori wasn't sure how dates usually went. She hadn't ever been on one. Maybe she could go to Isa for advice what she should do. After all, mothers were supposed to give insights on those kinds of things, and that was what Rori wanted. Emmeline could help her pick out something to wear once she figured out every thing out.

"I don't the first thing about going on dates."

[Emmeline Vance]

"I'm right there with you. I haven't the slightest clue when it comes to dates. I just go on what I hear and what I see. And sometimes I remeber cute little cafes and stuff I've been to over the summer and I remind myself that I would like to go there on a date." Emmeline shrugged. "Maybe I'm to untraditional....hmmmm....."She smiled. She was having fun.

[Rori Logan]

She listened to Emmeline with interest. Rori gave a laugh. "It's alright. It shows that you do have a bit of courage to be forward like that. I guess I've never been too forward." She shrugged. "I guess I'll just go with whatever feels right."

"So tell me Emmeline, are there any guys in school that you possibly have your eye on?"

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline blushed furiously. She could feel it. "Well," she coughed a little,"There is this one guy I kinda have my eye on. He's a second year Gryffindor and he's well known as a player." She rolled her eyes. "I should know better right...You may know him, Sirius Black?"

[Rori Logan]

"Sirius? I do know him. He's pretty nice to talk to from time to time," said Rori. She knew that he had dated Kris, and frankly, she didn't like her, just like almost everyone else. Rori knew that she was Remus' sister, but still. She was annoying. Once, she tried to be nice to her but there was something about her that Rori didn't like.

"I would just tell you to be careful." Rori smiled at Emmeline, then giggled. "You should go talk to him sometime."

[Emmeline Vance]

"Yes. He's very nice to talk to. Especially if you get him alone, he's a little bit more.....down to earth that way. I just feel so bad for him. I understand he made a mistake and all....but really, making him miserable like this, it's almost cruel...."She trailed off. Maybe Rori didn't know what happened. Of course, by now, everyone probably knew. And Rori probably knew that she was referring to Kris Lupin, who Emmeline hadn't liked the minute she laid eyes on her. She was just so.....suspicious. But her brother was cute.

"What would I need to be careful about? And to answer that last statement, I do sometimes. But only in class and if he needs help on something. Apparently, people believe what they hear and say. Ravenclaw's are the best people to go to for help. We're the smartest after all." Emmeline giggled a little. "Now spill. What do you know that I don't?"

[Rori Logan]

Rori raised an eyebrow at her why Emmeline said that Sirius made a mistake. She knew that he and Kris broke up, but she wasn't sure on the details. Although, Rori wasn't one to nosy in the reason behind other people's reasonings for things.

"I'm just saying be careful. It's just like a thing that is said. I know that Sirius flirts with just about every girl. That's all I know," she said with a shrug. "I don't think there's anything wrong with it really." Rori giggled again.

"Want to walk inside with me and grab some lunch?"

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline smiled. "I've heard that he does. But don't worry, I'm on my guard." She rubbed her arms and looked out at the lake. The sky was gray still. No sun. She hadn't expected to stay out till lunch and all she had was a cardigan.

"Lunch sounds fabulous. It's getting cold anyway." She stood and smiled brightly and Rori. "It's winter...."

[Rori Logan]

"Yes, I wasn't that cold when I first got out here, but it feels like it has gotten colder," she commented. Rori stood up as well and wrapped her arms around her own body.

"Although, I do love winter, I just can't stay out for too terribly long because I'll just freeze!" Rori giggled and started to walk with Emmeline up to the school. "I think nice warm food is just what we need, don't you?"

[Emmeline Vance]

"I love winter too. But I usually have on a thicker sweater or something." Even though it was cold, Emmeline and Rori walked at an unusually slow pace. No matter how cold, they both apparantly enjoyed outside.

"Hot cocoa and some pudding sounds devine right about now. I didn't even realize how hungry I was. Hey, maybe I'll even see Leo at lunch." She giggled. She didn't think that her day would turn out to be this much fun.

[Rori Logan]

"Pudding, I think that is one of my favorites," she said grinning. "And maybe you will. I think you'll like him. He's pretty nice." Rori walked beside Emmeline and finally felt that she had another girl that she could talk to other than Isa. There wasn't a problem talking to Isa, she enjoyed it, it was just that she was hoping that she found more girls her age that she could just have fun with.

They finally reached the inside and Rori led her inside. She shuddered a moment, adjusting to the warmer air. "If you want to, we can hang out a bit more after lunch, unless you have something that you have to do."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline smiled brightly and walked the rest of the way in silence. When she stepped into the castle, she immediatly got chill bumps. She saw more students walking to the Great Hall, all heading to get lunch. She smiled to herself. She finally had someone to walk to lunch with. She usually went alone.

"That would be a lot of fun! I don't have anything going on...I finished all my work."

[Rori Logan]

"Great," Rori said excitedly. "We'll definitely hang out then." She was still grinning as they followed some other students into the Great Hall for lunch. "Its nice to be able to have another girl to hang out with."

Rori walked with Emmeline over to the Ravenclaw table and sat down. "What do you like to do for fun Emmeline?

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline smiled and laughed. "I know what you mean. I have mostly guy friends, but that's only because most girls are really catty. I get called bad names for it, but it's better than the drama. You seem different though, which is a relief."

She sat down beside Rori and started for the pumpkin juice. She looked at Rori and shrugged. "Ever since I was little, I always drink more than I eat. My mum and dad thought I had diabetes at first....crazy old coots.." She rolled her eyes and laughed a little.

"I like ice skating and reading. I love music. I play the piano and sing. And I like laughing. So that pretty much means, doing stuff with my friends. What about you?"

[Rori Logan]

"I can't blame you for that," Rori said. "There's nothing wrong with having guy friends. I don't see why some girls think that is a bad thing."

As Emmeline reached for the Pumpkin juice, Rori reached for the pudding. She laughed. "Can't say I'm like that, but I do have a weakness for this."

She listened to what she liked to do. "Laughter is always fun. That is one of my favorite things to do too. I like reading and music as well, although I can't say that I have any musical talents. Doing things with friends is always nice. Usually I don't mind what I do as long as its something interesting or fun."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline laughed. "Don't worry. I'll get around to that," pointing to the pudding," later." She gulped down a quick goblet of juice and then grabbed herself a nice helping of pudding. "I can't believe I eat so much. I should be as big as a hot air balloon right now.'

Emmeline nodded as she listened to Rori. "I didn't say I had musical talent. I just like doing that stuff." She smiled. "I always thought I got put in the wrong house. I'm really loud and outgoing compared to most of my friends that are in Ravenclaw. But I think you and I might be just alike."

[Rori Logan]

Rori laughed again. "I should be right there with you. I do tend to eat a lot. Maybe one of these days we'll both be like that." She did tend to eat a lot whenever she was in a good mood, which was basically all the time.

"Well, I'm glad to find someone else like that then. I can be loud sometimes I think. Of course, its usually whenever something fun is going on. I think that we'll have a lot of fun together."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline smiled and nodded. "I know we'll have fun......but now I have to confess something. You remember earlier, when we were talking about Sirius? Well, I'm going to the ball with him. But even though I trusted you, I wanted to make sure how you felt about the whole situation between him and Kris. And since your not bias, I'm telling you now..." She took a deep breath. She felt much better now. "I'm sorry."
