Out In The Chilly Weather (Emmeline)

[Rori Logan]

Rori walked happily towards the lake. It was cold out, but that was alright with her. She wasn't going to be out to terribly long.

Things were going great at the moment. Everything with Leo was great, school was alright, Rori couldn't really have any complaints. She was starting to become excited because of the dance coming up. She was planning on going with Leo, but he hadn't asked her yet.

She stopped as she peered out at the lake and put her gloved hands in her pockets.

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. For a Ravenclaw, she absolutely couldn't take homework right now. It was giving her a headache and she really needed a break.

She grabbed her button up coat and scarf and made her way towards the black lake. Emmeline passed students, that were also neglecting homework and other duties, and gave them a small smile or "hello". It wasn't like her to be mean or rude, no matter her mood. She glanced around at all the tournament decor. This just frustrated her more. She still had no date to the dance.

As soon as she stepped outside, she immediately felt better. It was cold and crisp. A perfect day. She walked leisurely to the Black Lake and noticed a girl all by herself. Probably enjoying the peace and quiet also. Emmeline passed by her and was making her way towards the other side of a tree. Which would have been fine, if she hadn't tripped and fell. Scrapping both her hands and ripping a hole in the knee of her jeans. She felt tears well up as she looked at her hands. They didn't hurt. This just made her day even worse.

[Rori Logan]

She continued to look out at the lake until she heard someone go by. Rori noticed a Ravenclaw walking near her and she continued on. She gave her a smile before she passed, and she watched the girl walk toward the tree.

Rori saw the girl trip, and started to run toward her. She frowned at the girl. She felt bad for her, but Rori held out her hand to her. "Here, let me help you up," she offered.

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline looked up and gave the girl a smile. She grabbed the mittens out of her jacket pocket and shoved them onto her hands. She didn't want to get the other girl's hands dirty. She heaved herself up with the girls help and dusted herself off. When she looked up from examining her jeans, Emmeline recognized the girl as Rori Logan, a fellow Ravenclaw. They had never really hung out, but Emmeline heard that she was a nice person.

"Hi Rori. Thanks for your help. I'm such a dumb clutz."

[Rori Logan]

Rori smiled. The longer that she looked at the girl, Rori reconized her too. "No problem Emmeline," she said. "There's nothing wrong with that. The bright side is that you didn't get hurt to bad."

"It's nice to finally meet you," said Rori putting her hands back in her pocket.

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline smiled and nodded. Rori was right. The throbbing in her hands and knee were going away and it hardly left a scratch.

"It's good to meet you too. I was starting to wonder if you even existed. I heard talk, all good, but I've never seen you around." As Emmeline said this, she slowly examined her. She looked to be older than herself. She actually looked to old to be a third year. She was very pretty.

Emmeline looked out at the lake, the reason she came. It wasn't frozen yet. Which disappointed Emmeline. She loved ice skating. She was very good at it too. She sighed and looked back at Rori.

[Rori Logan]

She blushed slightly. Rori wasn't used to hearing people talk about her, but it was alright as long as they didn't start something horrible. At least the talk was good. "I've heard a little about you too. Of course, it was good stuff, like you being nice too." She smiled and looked out toward the lake.

Looking back to Emmeline and Rori smiled again. "It would be nice if the lake was frozen over. I've always wanted to go ice skating."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline giggled a little. "That's exactly what I was just thinking. I love it. Before I turned eleven, I used to take lessons and compete." Emmeline sighed a little and looked up.

The sky was white, with a few gray clouds. And the trees were starting to lose their leaves. It made Emmeline nostalgic. She really missed her life when she didn't have to worry about being popular, dates, and school work. But she wasn't one to complain. She loved her life. She was a witch, raised in a magical family. She was just......scared.

Emmeline smiled at Rori. She didn't want to make her depressed. From what she heard, Rori had it pretty good right now.

[Rori Logan]

Rori giggled along with Emmeline. "Great minds think alike," she said. "I've never ice skated in my life, but I've wanted to. It looks like it would be a lot of fun."

This time of year, Rori liked. It was perfect for sitting around a fire and wrapping up in blankets. Fall was the best time of year, in her opinion, because the leaves changed colors and it was just pretty. Winter was alright. She couldn't really complain about it.

"How have you been?"

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline shrugged. "I've been good actually. Every now and then, I'll catch my mood slipping, but I catch myself. School is stressful, as usual. How about you? I've heard things are really good for you right now."

Emmeline smiled. She secretly adored girl talk. But no one would ever know about that.

[Rori Logan]

Rori nodded in agreement about school being stressful. "I agree. School work is stressful," she said. However, at the next comment, she blushed. Just the thought of Leo made her turn pink. "Things are going good," said Rori. "I can't complain about that." Even things with her family was good. The baby was growing up fast, Voltaire and Isa were just fine. Although, now Rori just needed a girl that she could talk to about girl stuff. Sure, she would go to Isa about it, but she was usually busy with school or the baby and Rori didn't want to bother her.

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline giggle some more Rori. Apparantly, things were better than she let on. She smiled and motioned for Rori to follow her to one of the benches that the school had set up around the lake. Emmeline postioned herself towards Rori and smiled warmly.

"Okay. Spill. What's going on? That blush wasn't for nothing."

[Rori Logan]

She followed Emmeline to the bench and sat down, facing Emmeline as well. A giggle escaped Rori. She couldn't help it. The way Emmeline said it made Rori feel like they were great friends already. Now maybe she did have a girl that she could talk to about anything and everything.

"I can't help it," she replied. "Everytime I think about Leo I do that. He's so cute, don't you think? And he's sweet." As she went on, her cheeks turned a brighter pink. "So, because of that, and things going smoothly with Isa, Voltaire, and the baby, things are great."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline found it incredibly easy to be comfortable around Rori. It wasn't awkward or tense. And she felt like she had known her forever. Emmeline could already tell that they would be very good friends.

She smiled and couldn't help but laugh at the blush that Rori had taken on. "Yeah. I heard about you and Leo. He's very cute. And older. Ooh la la. Are you guys going to the dance together?"

[Rori Logan]

Rori giggled at Emmeline's comment. "He's a great guy," she said. "Maybe I can introduce you to him sometime." Emmeline was someone that Rori felt like she could tell anything to and didn't have to worry about her repeating what she said. "Well, I suppose we are," she said. "He hasn't really asked me yet. I'm going to wait and see what he does. What about you Emmeline? Who are you going to the dance with?"

[Emmeline Vance]

(( OOC:: This is a hard post to answer, because Sirius and Emme are in the process of role-playing this out. And he has yet to mention the ball. So, for now, Emme's just going to dodge the question.))

Emmeline nodded. "It would be really good to meet him. That way, I can give you my approval. So, have you decided what you want to wear yet?"

Emmeline shifted, hoping that Rori wouldn't bring up the fact that she dodged her question. It wasn't that Emmeline didn't trust Rori, but Emmeline didn't even know what was going on. Anything was subject to change.

[Rori Logan]

"I looked the last time I went to Hogsmeade at the dresses. I saw a pretty pink like color dress, along with a sliver looking one. I didn't buy any at the time, so I haven't gotten one yet. I just hope that by the time I go back that they're not both gone." Rori gave a shrug and didn't brush on the fact that Emmeline didn't answer her question.

"But I think that you would like Leo. He's pretty friendly with people."

[Emmeline Vance]

"Wow. I wish I was a year older. I could totally go with you. I think would be beautiful with your complexion, but silver would be gorgeous with your eyes. It's all personal choice though." Emmeline smiled. She loved giving advice, not matter what kind. And she loved to listen.

"So, have you and Leo been on an official date yet?"

[Rori Logan]

She listened to Emmeline's advice carefully. It would just depend on what the dress would look like on her, and she did need to have another girl that she could take to Hogsmeade with her. Maybe she would ask Isa if she wanted to go for one day.

Rori blushed again and slowly shook her head. "No. We haven't done that yet. We just seem to do things when we think about them around school."

[Emmeline Vance]

Emmeline frowned. "You do stuff around the school? Like what? There isn't much to do." She tried to think of all the things younger students could do on the grounds while on the date. Emmeline smiled. All she could think of was library and the Black Lack. She sighed and looked at Rori pointedly.

"If he won't ask you, you should." Emmeline inwardly slapped herself for her hypocrisy. Like she would ever do that.
