Since their parents were out of town on an extended business trip, Roland felt it was his duty to check up on his younger siblings. He wasn't entirely comfortable with it, although he loved his brothers and sisters. But usually whenever they were together, a fight broke out... usually between Cyrus and himself. His younger brother frustrated him with his cavalier approach to life and his carelessness in relationships.
Roland actually liked Cyrus's girlfriend, Lina, very much. He had never told her so, but he treated her with a gentleness that was normally only reserved for his little sister Amandine. But what frustrated him was why Cyrus had not yet married the girl. Even though Roland cared nothing about reputations, it frustrated him to see the family name being spoiled by his brother's inability to commit.
Nevertheless, as soon as he got a free weekend, he sent owls to each of his siblings, inviting them for some drinks and a light meal at the Three Broomsticks.
He arrived first--promptly at 2:00--and waited at a table in the corner, casually sipping at a butterbeer. Normally he opted for something harder, but seeing as Amandine would be present, he wanted to set a good example.

Cyrus sat on the side of the bed, staring at the parchment with the letter from Roland on it. He had wanted to meet him and the others at the Three Broomsticks but Cyrus didn't know if he would show or not. Lina and Mara had left after Lina and himself had just gotten into another fight over marriage..How could the determined woman not expect him to be wary of marrying her when his own parents wouldnt even be there. Crumpling the parchment he let it fall to the ground as he grabbed his cloak and stared at a photograph of Lina and Mara hanging on the wall.
"I love you...both" He said quietly to the photograph as he quickly disapparated from his apartment and appeared in front of the Broomsticks in the blink of an eye. Taking a deep breath he prepared himself for the usual fight between himself and Roland. Stepping inside he spotted Roland and noticed the others hadn't arrived yet, good best they get this out before the younger ones come in. Approaching the table he took a seat and motioned for a butterbeer before turning to his older brother. "So, you wanna tell me how much of a disgrace I am now, or should we get the formalities out of the way first?"

Roland turned to face his younger brother with a cool expression on his face. "Must you always come bursting in, ready for a fight?" he said calmly. He took a sip from his drink, fervently wishing that it was something stronger. He didn't want to do this; it was much easier facing down a Death Eater than attempting to have a personal conversation with his younger brother. "I am not so judgmental as you seem to think I am. I merely want what is best for you and Lina and Mara."
His face seemed expressionless except for the intense gaze in his hazel eyes. "How are Lina and Mara?" he questioned. "They were invited as well, you know. I hold nothing against either of them."

Amandine dressed warmly in her Ravenclaw cloak and scarf, smiling in the mirror before heading to Hogsmeade to meet her brothers. She always loved their little get togethers, they were always quite intertaining for Amandine.
She skipped down to the Three Broomstick where Roland said they would meet and entered, finding Roland and Cyrus in the corner table.
"Hi Roland, hi Cyrus," Amandine said cheerfully, kissing each brother on the cheek before sitting down. "Jamie not here yet?"

Cyrus sighed silently as his brother began to make sense along with being annoying. As the barmaid brought him a butterbeer he looked across the table to the eldest Ferrera child. "Your right Roland, i'm not in a good mood. Lina and I just got into another fight over marriage." Cyrus lowered his head a little as he began to slowly nurse his drink. "I just don't see why she can't understand ya know...I love her, but how can I marry her when my own parents won't even be at the wedding..."
Listening to his brother he smiled a bit as he looked up at the eldest of the clan. "Thanks Roland I know ya don't have anything against them. They're good, Lina well ya know Lina...Mara, well Mara misses her grandparents..." He heard footsteps and turned towards the sound seeing his beautiful little sister, Amandine. "Ama! How are you doing little love?" He smiled as his sister kissed him on the cheek. "Nope, looks like we all beat Jamie this time, such a slow kid...I always knew there was something odd about him. " Flashing his siblings a wink he chuckled as he leaned back in his chair taking another sip of butterbeer.

Roland had been about to argue with his brother, to tell him that he was being foolish for delaying the wedding over his parents' disapproval. He still felt that their parents would eventually come around when Cyrus showed that he was willing to make a commitment and take responsibility. After all, they had a beautiful granddaughter; how could they resist her for long?
But before he was able to say any of this, Amandine arrived. He stood up and bestowed one of his rare smiles on her. "Amandine, I'm glad you could make it. But I had rather hoped that Jamie would escort you, rather than allow you to come alone." He frowned and looked towards the door, hoping to see Jamie not far behind.

"I was perfectly fine by myself Roland," said Amandine matter-of-factly. It bugged her when her brothers always thought she needed protection. Guess that's what happens in a family of Aurors. "And Jamie is peobably still asleep, or just waking up. He sleeps in FOREVER on weekends," Amandine giggled.
"And how are Lina and Mara, Cy?" Ama asked. She had always been very excited to be an auntie, especially for cutie little Mara.

Jamie stumbled in with a gust of wind not far behind him. He shook his head slightly, and looked up, seeing the familiar shape of Amandine with two other men. Of course, they were probably Cyrus and Roland. Together, Cyrus and Roland looked alike. Jamie inwardly when when he thought of how different they were.
He walked over, "hey." He mumbled, forgetting he was late.

Cyrus had to use all his willpower to hold in the laughter as Roland voiced his concerns about Amandine coming to meet them alone. Roland fit well into the role of big brother, often overlooking the fact that their darling little sister was a Ferrera after all and the tempers of Ferrera women were legendary. If anyone had harassed poor Amandine well, Merlin help them was all Cyrus could think to say in response to a thought such as that.
Beaming at Amandine as she mentioned his Lina and Mary, he leaned over and kissed her one the forehead. "Well, Lina is good but i'm sure she misses your help around the apartment and I know for a fact Mara misses her aunt." Winking he noticed Jamie finally approach the table as he turned to the tardy sibling. Reaching over Cyrus punched Jamie playfully in the arm before turning pulling out a chair and motioning for him to sit. "That's for letting poor, fragile Amandine walk her alone. Pshaw, what kind of man does something like that?"

Roland was generally rather humorless, so he didn't realize that Cyrus was joking. "I'm so glad you were able to join us, Jamie," he said, raising an eyebrow at his youngest brother. "You should be careful, I don't really like either of you walking out alone these days. After what happened to that girl at Hogwarts, you really do need to be more careful."

Jamie rubbed his arm and gave a small smirk towards Cyrus, knowing his joking manner. Jamie always appreciated Cyrus's big brother attitude, which was more like a brother. Roland, on the other hand, acted more like his father, and Jamie's particularly apathy for Matheiu wasn't sympathetic toward Roland.
"I wasn't far behind," he muttered, slumping back in the chair. "It's not hard to see Ama from about a half a mile away."
He shot alook towards Cyrus, not asking about Mara, who was probably one of his favorite people in the world. Roland would get huffy, and that would cause discomfort. By Cyrus's good attitude, he assumed they were in good condition.

Roland didn't particularly understand Jamie's issues with him. He felt, as the oldest, that it was his job to take care of the rest of the family as much as possible. But he wasn't as harsh and judgemental as his brothers seemed to think he was. He just wanted the best for them, and for them to be safe. Still, he was aware that both of his younger brothers secretly resented him. He just wasn't capable of reaching out to them for a closer relationship.
"I wish you'd all take this a little more seriously," he said quietly. "In my line of work, I've made a few enemies, and any of them wouldn't hesitate to use you to get to me."
He wasn't sure they understood that they were his biggest weakness; if any of them were in danger, he wouldn't know how to handle it. "Please, promise me you'll be more careful."

Jamie looked at his knuckles, "Alright. For Ama."
Jamie wasn't normally oblivious, and hadn't really noticed that Roland's concerns were actually concerns, rather then an opportunity to boss the youngest boy around. Jamie, who wasn't complaining, was closest to Amandine in age, appearance and almost every aspect. Amandine was stuck to his side, and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to protect her. That was evident to anyone who hung around them for any given length of time. But Roland's worries were distant and hidden.
Jamie might not have spoken much, but people generally got what his morals were without him having to explain.

Amandine bit her lip as she watched her brother's talk back and forth with each other. She knew Jamie always watched out for her, and today's going to lunch was one of the first times she wasn't glued to her brother's hip in a while. "Don't worry Roland, Jamie watches out for me," she smiled and poked Jamie in the side.
She bit her lip again when Roland talked about the enemies he'd made. It was always nerve-racking, being a child in a family of Aurors. But she knew she had 3 big brothers who watched out for her, so she wasn't entirely terrified by Roland's comment.

Roland looked at each one of them in turn, then nodded slowly. "Good," he said. "I just want to make sure you're safe, that's all." He leaned back, trying to look relaxed, but he always seemed tense and poised for action. "At any rate, I didn't call any of you here to yell at you, no matter what you might think. I just got back into town, and I wanted to see how you were all doing. I feel like I haven't seen you in a long time."
It was his way of saying that he missed them. He was used to saying things in this way; keeping his true feelings bottled up. It was one of the reasons he was so good at what he did.

"Aw, missed you too, Roland," Ama smiled, leaning her head on her brother's sholder for a moment before sitting back up again. It was always a good feeling when she knew everyone was home safe.

Roland gave her a small smile. It was easy to see that he was partial to her; but then, Ama's smile was infectious. "I actually brought you something from my travels," he said. "Would you like to see it?"
He had actually brought something back for each of them, but he was likely to save Cyrus and Jamie's gifts for Christmas. But he couldn't resist giving Amandine hers now.

Amandine smiled even wider. "You did?" she said, bouncing with excitement. "Yes I want to see! What is it?" Reason number two why she loved having a family of Aurors. Sometimes, Ama got some pretty neat stuff. Especially from Roland.

Roland couldn't help but crack a smile at her excitement. "I really should save it for your Christmas present," he said lightly. But he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box. Inside was a deep blue stone carved into the shape of a butterfly and strung on a simple silver chain. He had thought of her when he saw it, and had to get it for her. "Here you go."

Smiling wide, Amandine took the box her oldest brother had offered her. She opened it to find a beautiful blue buterfly on a silver chain. Amandine imediatly fell in love with the necklace. "Oh Roland it's beautiful!" she said gratefully, hugging Roland tight and kissing his cheek. She quickly strung the necklace around her neck and clasped it shut.
"What do ya think?" She asked Cyrus and Jamie. She was glad Roland had thought of her on his travels, the jewerly was truely beautiful.
