Alone and Bored (Open... preferably to a boy)

Jackie was curled up in a blanket, sitting in one of the overstuffed chairs in the common room. She was bored out of her mind. It was a free period for her, and Dean had class.

She left her dorm room when her dorm mates started on about the dance and getting their dresses and their hair done, and who had a date, who didn't. It was too much for her. Jackie, who could look like a girly girl when she tried, generally just found it so much easier to talk to boys.

She hoped maybe Reese would show up, or another one of her friends, to save her from the early start she was getting on her homework.

Sin came into the room looking rumpled and disheveled not to mention exhausted. Sometimes he could really kill Alyx for the trouble she put him through not that he didn't care for her in his own way, and not that he couldn't make time for her, but couldn't she have picked a day that he didn't have a huge test to have a crisis? That wasn't fair of him, Alyx wasn't the sort to get upset over nothing and in the entire course of their friendship together she had never really been the sort to inconvenience. Lord knew his problems were always safely entrusted when he went to her. Perhaps it was something else, something new that was causing his ire, she looked different to him...he wasn't as oblivious as he played sometimes he was quite sharp and at the moment where she was concerned he was getting a vague sense of unease, something in her eyes. He knew she was a girl...but it was a fact easily forgotten, except lately.

She stared a bit longer at him, smiled a bit softer...if it wouldn't pain him to admit it he almost believed she was developing a crush, and that wouldn't do. He didn't feel that way about her, and he was worried he'd lose her friendship over this should she decide she wanted more than he was willing to give.

Perhaps that was the reason for his ire as he came into the room and melted onto the couch, he didn't see Jackie at first, but she would have been a refreshing breeze to his problems. Jackie was another friend, one that thought like one of the guys, however Sin knew she was female easily enough, but wasn't threatening to him since Dean was always at her side, he was free to flirt casually and in general be easy around her.

Thank Merlin, Jackie thought when she saw Sin, and she was eager to set her homework down. She liked Sin. He was playful and fun, and unbelievably caring when he needed to be. He and Reese always seemed to be there when she wasn't with Dean, and Sin was one of the few reasons she had been all right with not being in the same house as Dean.

But he didn't look much like he was in the mood for fun and whatnot.

"Bad day, Sin?" She asked empathetically.

At the voice he tensed only for a moment, he didn't really want to deal with anyone and for the split second it took him to register the voice was female he was worried it was Alyx...for the first time in his life she was the last person Sin wanted to see.

As Jackie came into view however a grin appeared at the side of his mouth,"Test." he replied, " Although the sky's looking clear now that you've come into view."

"Oh, ever the charmer," Jackie replied. "How *do* I resist you?" She flashed him a warm smile. "You really look beat. Are you all right?"

If he said yes, she would leave him alone. No sense harrassing him about it. She just worried for her friends and he was indeed a friend.

"Well a hulking ravenclaw might have something to do with your resistance but..." he said wriggling his eyebrows, "If you insist upon keeping your deep seated love for me a secret, well then I guess I can comply, it wouldn't due you know...to have another fawning female...though I'd definitely make time for you." he laughed at this point, "Alright. I'm abusing sarcasm at this point." he sighed at her second question.

"Yes." he answered, "But I don't mind the company, or the distraction, how are you doing Jackie?"

Jackie smiled. "Hulking Ravenclaw, hm? Oh, Dean!" She said, as if she hadn't known. She laughed at the word 'hulking.' "Yeah, I guess it figures the shortest sixth year in the school is dating the tallest. We're dating now, officially, my secret love for you aside. I just like being able to say it. Besides, rumor has it, you've got your eyes set on a particular seventh year."

She smiled warmly at him, in such a good mood now that she had someone to talk to. If there was one thing Jackie hated, it was being alone. Her friends (namely Sin, Reese, and Dean) all knew this and kept her company when they could. Dean, of course, took the brunt of it.

"I'm doing well. Really well."

"Oh?" he asked sitting up, "Dating you say? Well congratulations." he offered with a wide grin too charming by half, " I must say now I'm truly excited, our secret love affair wasn't really an affair before but now it can be." he teased her, she had to expect it however, endless teasing from this point on.

Jackie laughed. "I never took you for one to worry about semantics, Sin. But the thought of saying that I'm having an affair with sin is one to be conidered, certainly. "

She smiled at him and repositioned herself in the chair, pulling her blanket around her shoulders.

"I notice you adeptly voided my comment about those rumors."

He winked at her continuing to skip over the topic of Gwen. Then he grinned. He had always loved his name except sometimes he felt it was a reputation to live up to, and he did a good job of that as well. "Concieved in, Born in, and Living in sweetheart." he winked again.

Jackie let the topic of Gwen drop. He obviously didn't want to talk about it, which made her mind reel with all kinds of possibilities, but she wouldn't push it.

"So what test did you have today that put you in a bad mood?" She asked, leaning forward and putting her chin in her hand as it emerged from the blanket.

He shrugged, " Transfiguration. Professor Long has some strange ideas." and that was all he would say about it, actually he probably wouldn't have minded the test, it was a good assessment of his skills and creative to boot, but for the first time ever he wouldn't have minded having a written test or something he could put photographic memory to use, and it was because of Alyx.

"I'm not worried about it, let's talk more about our secret love affair...we're going to have to arrange it so the hulk doesn't kill me."

Jackie laughed. She loved the way Sin always referred to Dean, and never by name. "Well, it helps that he's in a different house. Stolen moments during the day could be a little more difficult to swing, though."

She sighed, thinking of Zoe suddenly. Her relationship with Sin was very similar to the friendship she had had with Dean while he dated Zoe... Dean knew she was good friends with Sin. Was he ever jealous? She sincerely hoped not, and hoped that Dean trusted her by now.

Sin wasn't the type to step on other men's toes, especially if he liked the guy. Sin would rather everyone have a happy ending, but he wasn't the type to commit to anything resembling a serious relationship and would never break up something happy in order to have a fling. Dean if anything would know Sin's reluctance to hurt women and putting it all into perspective Jackie was definitely safe from Sin's actual advances.

"I'll simply have to thief you in the middle of the night...provided you're not with Gigantor." he said wriggling his eyebrows suggestively, teasingly.

Jackie burst out laughing with the infectuous, bubbly laugh of hers. "Oh, poor Dean. He can't help that he towers above everyone. But no... I should be easy to steal away in the middle of the night. I got yelled at last time I was with him past midnight."

And she thought of Zoe again. Granted, she had been out after hours, in the boys' dorm, in a different house. But still.

Sin joined her in laughter but Dean wasn't so much taller than him, it was just a long standing joke since Dean had been taller than him when they were younger and all second years, the boy simply was tall, but Sin had his growth spurt sure enough and had impressive mass himself, still one never did live down the nicknames, for Sin it was hard enough trying to live down his actual name.

"And what were you doing that prompted yelling?"

Jackie rolled her eyes. "Writing a paper. Terribly scandolous, isn't it? I just got caught by the wrong person."

She waved her hand. "Anyway, one of the benefits of dating a Ravenclaw. When you need help with a paper, who better, hm?"

[Reese Denton]

Reese didn't expect anyone to be in the common room. It was one of those days where everyone else seemed to be outside or in the library...

Except these three Gryffindors, it seemed.

He smiled. "Hey you two. Why aren't you outside? It's supposed to snow today."

Sin put a hand over his heart " Ow." he mouthed, " You know you could try the guy with the photographic memory." he pouted but there was a smile hidden there but truthfully Sin was very smart, he didn't have to try much because he did have the photographic memory, but on top of that he was skilled in other areas.

When Reese joined them Sin felt his heart relieve a bit as he put Alyx's problems behind him.

"Yes, but I'd feel guilty for cuddling with you afterwards. He's guilt free, you see." Jackie smiled warmly, and her attention was diverted when Reese's voice broke into their conversation.

"That's exactly why I'm inside," she answered his question. "It'll be freezing outside if it snows!"
