Christine needed some adventure in her life. She had just given up sailing for the next two years pretty much except for holidays...but as if she'd leave her family during the holidays. Christopher and her always managed to get home just for the holidays with tons of gifts for everyone, and she often missed her parents and brothers and other uncles as well.
She actually spent equal time with her father and her Uncles, but Voyages it seemed just took longer. But if her uncle Edward was going to Peru, Christine would beg to go, if Anthony was doing something scandalous, Christine would beg to go. There was also that time when Christopher was out to see and couldn't take her along, she spent much of the time with Anthony then.
But now it would seem she was home and on her own.
It wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. She had been looking at pictures of Hogwarts and reading stories about the castle that now had her interest piqued, she'd be going there soon enough and she wanted to get to know the place a bit beforehand. It looked as if it might be an adventure after all. But for the moment she was having another adventure.
She wasn't supposed to be here, and perhaps that was the reason she was there to begin with. Whatever was restricted was usually the most fun, only Christine wasn't having fun.
She had danced a bit, contemplated getting something to drink at the bar before she curbed that impulse and instead found a place to sit and ponder her life at school when someone sat in front of her.

Simon wasn't one for brunettes, and this girl seemed to have more experience on hand than her age gave her credit for. He was intrigued however with the way she had danced. There was none of the typical gyrating that usually went on between the younger people in the clubs, but rather, her hips undulated like something out of a harem and his eyes had wandered at that point. He went to sit with her.

"Can I help you?" she asked immediately putting up a guard, not discernable to him but still she felt for the knife Ian had given her to reassure herself, and then for her wand as well, making sure both were in place she allowed herself to smile as he began talking about places like this and that.
She kept up the conversation quite well making him reevaluate her age. She was dressed nicely and looked to be at least nineteen.

"You can help me," Anthony said, sliding up behind her and putting an arm protectively around her waist. She was his niece, after all, and his friend.
He had seen her the instant she came in, and planned eventually to say hello, but he rather suspected that she needed some alone time as well. It wasn't until he saw the look in the older man's eyes that he moved.

Christine was almost startled but then she nearly laughed at the possessive tone in her uncle's voice.
"Oh and how may I help you?" she asked turning to put her arms around his neck and kiss his cheek.
By the time she turned back around the other man had fled and she sighed with much amusement, " I don't think he wanted to play with two of us." she laughed.

"I don't think he wanted to get caught harrassing a girl half his age," Anthony corrected her. "How are you, Princess?" He asked, letting his mind get off of the man and focused more on Christine. "Back from the ends of the earth with my brother?"

"For a little while." she smiled and shrugged off what the other man probably didn't want. She had no intention of letting anyone get what she didn't want to give them so there was no harm there...even if she did feel better now that Anthony was there.
"I've missed you."

"I've missed you too, my darling Christine," Anthony told her, beginning to sway and dance with her. "And if you're home, it means my brother has come home, too. For Christmas, I suppose?"
He winked at her. "You're a little early, aren't you?"

She loved that Anthony didn't ask questions as to her behavior or why she was in a bar when she was underage. He simply chose to dance with her, she turned and danced with him as well though it was more of a hug and sway than a dance.
"Yes he's home...for a while before he sets out again...alone."

Anthony raised an eyebrow.
"Alone? Has he finally banned you from the ship?" He was teasing with her, keeping things light, as was his way. "I always told you that when you became a better sailor, he would get jealous."

She smiled with him, because of him actually, and let the smile turn into a grin, " No. I'm officially a student. I start Hogwarts next week." she announced firmly as if she had made the decision herself. The fact that Anthony knew her so well would be the only contrasting testament to her tone. "Congratulate me, I enter the world of academia."

"Am I congratulating you?" He asked, knowing that James was behind this for certain. "Or offering my condolances? Although, I attended Hogwarts, and I managed just fine."
He didn't ask for details. Unless Christine wanted to give them, he didn't need them. He just asked her to be honest with him. He could read her pretty well, most of the time, but that didn't mean he wanted to have to.

"Congratulate me." she said firmly. Her way of taking control of the situation was pretending it had been her idea, "It will be an adventure after all." she said certain she hugged him a little tighter though.
"You will come and visit me...and break me out occasionally won't you?"

Anthony nodded, knowing very well that Christine was not happy and did not feel that congratulations were the best way to react to this news. He indulged her however.
"Congratulations, Christine. I think you'll do quite well at Hogwarts, actually."
He nodded to her question. "Whenever I'm in town, I'll make a point of coming to see you for a while, all right? Don't look at it as a prison. You've only got a couple of years. If I survived, I know you can."

She gave him a look, "You know it's a big farce you and your brothers." she said touching on the general fighting of the Montgomery clan, the brothers loved to do it, they weren't happy unless they were fighting, but it was a farce, they knew it and so did any other Montgomery, although to strangers it was quite intimidating to watch them go for it, still Christine continued, " You all think you're so different, but all of you say the same thing, " she transformed her tone to befit a male's voice, " I survived it." she shook her head and rolled her eyes. "I've survived storms that would make a person's insides melt, arabian sheiks who'd make me their seventh bride, cut throats in india, the Shonju clan in China, and a million other things that I won't tell you and have it circulate back to my father who would never let me on another ship again, but I can say with crystal clarity that Hogwarts is moot, there is *nothing* to survive except extreme boredom."
There. She had vented. Famous for that Montgomery temper but even moreso for her quick turn around Christine sighed and held him tighter, " I'm sorry Anthony... I'm really not...I'm not that upset. I know I shouldn't be upset really...you all had to endure it when you were young...I was lucky enough to get to experience the world beforehand...I'm so lucky to have you and Chris, and Edward..." she smiled softly, " And I love my father to pieces. Don't tell him that though." she smiled sneakily, "I'm still supposed to be mad at him for all of this...but I know he's doing what he does because he loves me. I'm really lucky to have him, and I know that."

"I kow you like to think we're all the same, and deep down, we can be pretty similar. It's frustrating as hell, and probably why we fight so much. But you're deluding yourself if you think your any different from any of us. Especially your dad. James doesn't do anything crazy now... but there was a time when he did. And he is just as stubborn and tempermental and hot headed and quick to judge as you are, princess."
Sam and Geoff had the same traits. Honestly, Caleb was about the only one that could claim he didn't, not being a Montgomery by blood, but he had hismoments too.
"And trust me... Hogwarts isn't all boring. But you don't believe me when I say that because I'm old and don't know how to have fun and haven't experienced nearly as much as you, right?" He wasn't angry with her. Instead, his words were gentle and almost teasing, but still pointing out to her that she was being stubborn and closed minded as it was.

She faintly rolled her eyes, " I really hate it when *you* use sarcasm." he was brutal with it almost moreso than the rest of the clan. When he had mentioned her father being wild and reckless she raked him with an utmost skeptical look, the only thing more inconceivable to her would be him telling her that her mother was once something other than proper.
She sighed, " I'll have to believe you for now...although I don't see how school could be more than tame in comparison" she frowned, " that's not the way to look at things." She rested her head against his chest, "I'm just not very happy at the moment 'tis all, I keep trying to think of it as an adventure, and all I keep envisioning are bars from a prison window."

Anthony smiled slightly, knowing exactly the reason why Christine hated his sarcasm. He never used it to go for the laughs, but to point out the truth... and the truth hurt. Still, she had a lot to learn. As worldly as she was, she still saw the world throgh the eyes of a sixteen year old. He and Christopher and James saw the world through older eyes, and more experienced eyes, no matter what she thought.
And he would understand if she didn't believe him. No one knew what Anthony had seen or done. He didn't fancy himself a particularly secretive guy, but he really did just disappear mysteriously, and then show up again, sometime in the future, as if he'd never been gone.
"Then let's not think about school at all," he told her. "Adventure or prison, let's leave the thought behind us for a while."

She nodded and folded herself into protective arms. She still was a sixteen year old girl, but not a conventional one by any means. Her parents had been indulgent and let her run around the world of course she wasn't alone, but she had her share of adventure and now it was in her blood, if she hadn't been born with it already. All in all it made for a lonely existence, and perhaps that was what she was fearing most. How was she supposed to relate to anyone at that school? Her worries focused on life threatening situations not whether or not she'd pass a test or get into the right house.
"Alright." she agreed though mentally she was enlisting his help to keep her from going mind numbingly coo coo at this place.

All right. It was her way of saying he was done arguing, but that she didn;t think he had won by any means. He sighed; it would have to be good enough for now.
"Let's just dance a little and enjoy the evening, all right? It's been ages since I've seen you. A year, and least, and you have grown so much."
