Although Geoffrey had his own place in London, he came home often in search of a home-cooked meal. He wasn't much of a cook; in fact, housework in general wasn't exactly his forte. So it was just as well that he could come home whenever he wanted, to enjoy the comforts of home.
After Jensen let him in, he said his greetings to the elderly butler and then went in search of his father.

When someone came home, it often seemed like they came all at once. Christopher and his daughter were back, Edward never really left, and now Geoff was back as well, according to the servant who had just announced his arrival. The only one her hadn't heard from yet was Anthony, his youngest brother.
He left his office in search of his son, hoping this would be a much happier homecoming than it had been with Christine.
He spotted his son first. "Geoffrey, welcome home," he said, smiling to catch his attention.

Geoffrey broke into a wide smile as he heard his father's voice behind him. He turned around to face him. "Dad!" he said cheerfully. "It's good to see you again. You don't mind me dropping by, do you? I was getting a little homesick, so I thought I'd come over for a visit. What's going on? Did I miss anything exciting?"

James waved away his son's question. "Of course I don't mind. And you know that your mother will be thrilled to see you," he added, coming up to Geoffrey and pulling him into a fatherly hug.
"You're just about in time for tea, actually, if you'd like to join your mother and I. I doubt Christine will be joining us, but you never know. We'll fill you in on everything you've missed."

"James? Who's there?" Lillian asked coming down the stairs in the central foyer. She loved the house honestly she did, but she thought the place entirely too big and cumbersome in getting around. When she saw Geoffrey her face lit up.
"Geoff?" she asked clarifying before quickening her pace just a bit and opening her arms to her son. "Oh I'm so glad your home." she looked to James a bit perplexed, " I saw Christine...for about a moment before she bolted out of here, is she alright?" Lillian hadn't been told about the accident otherwise she'dve been in high disciplining her daughter to, not to mention hysterics.

Geoffrey hugged his father. Although he was technically an adult now, he still felt close to his parents and had no shame in hugging them once in a while. The Montgomery family was an affectionate bunch.
He was surprised to hear Christine's name mentioned, but before he was able to comment, he heard his mother's voice. "Mum!" he said, turning from his father to give his mother a hug. "It's good to be home. What's this about Christine?"

Lillian turned to James for an explanation as well. She had seen her daughter for about two seconds but she ran so fast out of the house she hadn't had a moment to speak with her.
She missed her daughter terribly when she went on these adventures with her uncle. Her little girl...the one she had tried so hard for. The one that almost cost Lillian her life. She didn't like being separated from her children at all, but at least Geoffrey was nearby enough that she could visit upon occasion, her daughter just seemed to be going further and further away.

James sighed, seeing both of their questioning eyes on him. "Christine is fine," he said, looking pointedly at both of them. "The only think you missed was her hating me just a little more than before. But don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to witness the next one."
He motioned towards the tea room. Weren't daughters supposed to adore their fathers?

Lillian was a bit disturbed by that vague answer and she wanted to know why their daughter supposedly hated her husband but she would wait to hear it later...she hoped she hadn't missed Christine completely between trips.
Dutifully Lillian followed James and Geoffrey into the other room and sent one of the house elves for the tea.

James made sure his wife and son were both comfortable before he sat down as well. "It's nothing, really. She just thinks I'm too overbearing and too over protective. I'm sure Sam thinks the same thing about Edward," he tried to assure both of them. He and Christine always seemed to be at odds.
"But, enough of that. Geoffrey, how are you?"

Geoffrey frowned at his father's words. He got the feeling there were things about Christine's return home that his father wasn't saying. Which probably meant there was a problem, and that was the reason Christine was so angry with him. He resolved to talk to her later and get her to ease up on their father, and find out what was going on.
Sitting down at the table, he leaned back in his chair, looking both elegant and casual at the same time, if such a thing was possible. "I'm doing fine, Dad," he replied. "Just working and enjoying the city life. It seems like things at the Ministry are crazier than ever... even in my department."

"I've heard rumors that things are a little hectic in most departments. Just so long as you're staying safe," He added, looking indulgently at his wife. He knew she worried, too, just as much as he did. She was just better about showing it.
"Anyway, I suppose we'll be having a dinner in yours and Christine's honor, now that you're both home at the same time."

Not if Christine was mad Lillian predicted. Their daughter wouldn't be home until their uncle shipped out and that was nearly a fact, but she didn't bring that up, instead she was worried about her son, "'Don't work to hard Geoffrey." she said in what was obviously a motherly tone.

Geoffrey smiled. "Well, I don't need a special dinner or anything. Just a regular one is fine by me. It doesn't matter. The important thing is just seeing you two. It gets lonely in the city sometimes."
He caught the hint of worry in his mother's voice and he reached across the table to pat her hand reassuringly. "I'm OK, Mum, really. Work's crazy... but my department's pretty tame in comparison. I'll be fine, I promise."

She still didn't like it. She had worked hard enough over the years of her youth that none of her children should have had to work, and of course they didn't have to work, Geoffrey simply chose to and she couldn't unchoose that lifestyle for him. To be honest she was proud of her son for breaking away from the lazy noble scene, but then again taht was the Montgomery way. None of the Montgomery brothers were lazy.

Geoffrey recognized the look on his mother's face. It was the look that said she was still worried, and there was nothing he could do to talk her out of it. He usually saw that look on her face when she was talking to Christine. Although he'd had his fair share of mishaps when he was younger, he wasn't quite as wild as Christine, who became restless whenever she was forced to be on land, rather than traveling the world with Christopher.
"It's OK, Mum, really. I just want to learn how to do things on my own, rather than rely on the family for everything. But as you can see, I like to visit often."
He looked back at his father. "So I'm guessing, if Christine is back, so is Christopher. What about Anthony? Has anyone heard from him?"

James shook his head. "Maybe Christopher has, but neither Edward nor I have heard from Anthony in quite a while. You know how he is."
They could always count on hearing from Christopher on occassion, no matter where he was. Perhaps that was because he had his brother's daughter in tow more often than not, but the reason didn't matter. Anthony, when he left, just simply disappeared.
He was close to Geoff's age, and James had hoped that perhaps his son could keep his younger brother around a little more, but even growing up together, it hadn't happened yet. He still felt like Anthony was the baby, and that he needed to protect him.
"Anyway, I'm sure when he's back in town, it'll either be you or Christine that hears from him first."

Lillian was worried rather that Anthony would rub off on Geoffrey, but while he was so concerned about that, Christine had taken after Christopher and she had barely seen it. But she loved her son just as he was, and her daughter too for that matter. They were perfect to her.
"Well I'm happy to see you home at any rate." she said kissing her son's forehead.

"Well, I'm happy to be home," Geoffrey said, flushing slightly. "I mean, it's just a visit, but you know I love coming home to see you. But you know, Mum, you can always come by and visit me in my apartment. I swear, I keep it mostly neat... and I almost never have strange women staying in my apartment." He winked at that.
He was actually rather proud of his own little apartment, because it was his own space. So he worked hard to keep it in good condition. Somehow his father had instilled a good sense of responsibility in him, and he did his best to try not to let him down.

She raised an eyebrow at the "strange women" comment and sent her husband a look as if to ask where her son got that cheekiness from, but otherwise she portrayed a quite serene and composed mother. Her eyes couldn't help but soften at her son whom she adored more than life.
"Then we will simply have to drop in on you some time."
