James gave her an innocent look, as if he had no idea where Geoffrey had learned the cheekiness, though it did seem to run in the family. Christine had her own streak of it as well.
"I'll make sure she comes to visit once or twice, then, Geoffrey. In the meantime, we're both glad you've come home. Us and Christine, of course. Do you have any requsts for dinner?"

Geoffrey grinned at his mother. Sometimes she took the things he said a little too seriously. When he had been younger, he had often tried to use it to his advantage. Now, of course, he would never do such a thing.
Looking back at his father, he shrugged. "No, no requests. I'm sure whatever we have, it'll be better than what I'd make for myself."

Lillian rolled her eyes, knowing that she often sounded like the mother hen, but her children, and her husband were the most important part of her life, and only Godric knew that when things started to settle down, and were going nice and easy, that was the time to be on one's guard. She smiled and brought her hand up to her son's face almost nostalgically, " Cooking for yourself." she laughed a little a small gleam in her eye, " You must be starving." she teased.

Geoffrey laughed. "I'd have to be to eat my own cooking. Seriously, mum, I should have paid more attention to what you were doing in the kitchen. I seem to burn everything. Most of the time, I end up ordering out. But other than that, I promise, I'm doing OK for myself. I do miss you, though."
He glanced at the door. "Is Christine going to show her face down here for dinner?"

Lillian looked at her husband, Christine had torn out of the place like a bat out of hell when she heard the plans for her future, although Lillian hadn't been there to witness it and hadn't heard yet what was with their daughter, she now waited expectantly to hear what Christine had to say and where she was at.

James scratched the back of his neck and sighed.
"I sincerely doubt that Christine will be joining us for dinner, though I'm sure she would if she knew you were here, Geoffrey." He sent a helpless look at his wife. Geoffrey had been the easy one to raise. Boys... boys were easy. Girls made him clueless.
"She's angry at me... as usual."

Lillian raised a delicate eyebrow at that news. Of course it was what could be expected, her free spirited daughter would hate having her wings clipped, and her poor husband would suffer Christine's cold shoulder. Lillian knew how much James hated that cold shoulder. They had spoiled Christine, not with material things, well yes with those as well, but with allowing her to have her way too often. But Christine wasn't like normal children, what she wanted wasn't trivial or a new game, a new pony, she wanted to learn, she wanted to travel, and since they had the means to let Christine travel and learn, and do as she pleased, Christine had grown accostumed to getting her own way.
Lillian sighed, " She'll come around James."

Geoffrey frowned and looked from one parent to the other. "So... this situation... her being home and going to Hogwarts... is it permanent? I mean... I know it's your decision to make, and you just want her to be safe and all, but, well... After all this time, it's really going to be a big adjustment for her."

"She will just have to get used to it." Lillian said sounding very stern. She was tired of her daughter trapiezing the world and just narrowly escaping one vicious danger from another. It was time the girl was in school and settled. Lillian realized she sounded a bit like her older sister, or worse, her Uncle, but Christine was in no way being forced into a tightly controlled box of societal limitations, she was just having to go to school for Pete's sake.
