Well as long as you mean it this time. Derek thought while inwardly rolling his eyes. Such a sensitive little girl, he would deplore playing nice with her but he wasn't about to let her leave.
"I'm completely indifferent to the situation Miss Rousseau. Last night I admit I may have been a bit skeptical, but now I realize that it doesn't matter, the Scotts will come for you soon enough. Until that time you are in my care, whether you want to be or not. I assure you if you leave I will follow you, and it is really not my ideal to go chasing after you all day in London, but Zachary happens to mean a great deal to me and therefore I would do it anyways. As for my displeasure, you haven't seen it or else you really would be running for the door. As for Respect, quite frankly I don't know you. How am I supposed to respect someone who I don't know, who I have been told was engaged but slept with another man, and then to placate an angry fiance slept with him as well, is now pregnant but doesn't know who the father is? I mean no disrespect other than what happened last night which was uncalled for. However if you're expecting pleasantries and phony smiles I'm much too honest a man than to provide them for you. You are staying here with me, you can be loosely defined as a guest, or roughly defined as a prisoner take your choice because I am not letting you out of my sight. Especially since you seem to think that Thatcher and Tanya will have no control over the situation. They will, and when that time comes believe me, you'll want me loosely on your side. Which, until you do, do something to make me change my mind, like run away, I am. On your side that is."

Suzie sighed, trying hard not to listen to him. He wasn't on her side. He was quick to imply that she was a slut... or what did they call them in Britain? Slags? He was quick to fault her, and she refused to be a burden on anyone.
"Look, it's fine. I'll even tell Zach you were a great host and chased me for a long time before I finally eluded you. There's nothing left on your conscious, and I get to get out of here for a little while. Whether or not you think I deserve respect, *I* do, and I'm really not going to put up with you."

She had his answer and that was all he was going to say on the subject. If she left, he would follow. He had become her shadow now and that was just the way things were going to have to be.
"I never said I couldn't respect you. I said I didn't know you well enough to respect you, and you don't know me well enough to respect me either, in fact from both our first impressions it's pretty clear we don't respect one another. You'd be inching in the right direction if you didn't make me chase you."

"And you'd be inching in the right direction if you stopped implying that I was a whore." She raised her eyebrows, laying it flat out for him. She didn't respect him, he was right, but it was only because he had lost all of it last night.

"I'm not the one who said I had slept with seven different men and couldn't tell who the father was." he reminded her, " As if it would matter to me who you allowed your favors for. As a promiscuous male it would be hypocritical of me to judge your bed notches with mine."
He didn't think she was a whore, a liar perhaps, and the bit about using her body to placate another man came to mind, what she couldn't have ran from him or put him to sleep she had to sleep with him to get away from him instead? If the bed fit she laid in it. He slept with whom he pleased because it pleased him to, he didn't sell his body though he had been put in a position to.

"It was a lie because I didn't like what your question implicated. I told you this morning that it was a lie."
It was hipocritcal of him, and she desperately wanted to point that out. She was engaged to a man, and fell in love with another. Had Taylor done it, no one would think differently of him. But since she had done it, well, she was sure to ruin everything and be forever known as a slut.
She sighed. "We're not getting anywhere like this."

Had she pointed it out he would have told her she was wrong, he wasn't hypocritical. He understood the age and thought it was fine for women to sleep with whomever they wanted. What made a whore was when they sold their body for something other than pleasure, letting someone use your body instead of fighting circumstance. A slut was different, which had she slept with seven different men with having no real loving attachment to them then he probably would have categorized her under that name, which also categorized himself under that name and to be honest he didn't care. That wasn't why he didn't respect her.
He didn't care for her at all which had more to do with his own issues than her, but his main worry was Zach and not wanting him to fall into the same Trap Derek had.
"I wasn't under the implication that we had to get anywhere. You don't like me because you assumed I was assuming you were a whore and that was the reason I treated you, again in your opinion, unconscionable last night. I treated you the way I did last night out of worry for my friend and a familiarity with gold diggers. I learned the truth and more than I cared to learn when you *lied* to me. If there's any reason why I do not respect you Miss Rousseau it would be because you lied, but to be honest, disrespecting someone takes just as much energy as respecting someone and for the moment I have neither for you."

Well that was harsh, she though. Yes, she had lied, but she had come clean about it. And the lie was only in response to his accusations anyway.
Without another word, because he seemed the type to always have the last word and she didn't have the energy to fight it, she finished with the dishes, dried her hands, grabbed her purse, and was out his door.

And he was right behind her. Shutting the door and locking it then following silently behind her, he was clever and quick in case she apparated away he'd be able to catch a tail of that apparation, if not the food she had eaten earlier would be enough to magically trace her location anyway. Merlin how he hated Stubborn females.

Suzie didn't care that he was following her. He could follow her around shopping all day for all she cared.
The thing was, she was tired, and just sitting and relaxing, and waiting for Zach sounded amazing. So she found herself trailing towards the hotel again.

When he picked up on her direction he curled his lip in disgust. They were not doing this again were they really? He rolled his eyes, if that's what she wanted he would argue with her again, he would follow her inside, hell he should let her try and buy a room. Fat chance that. He'd buy the whole damn hotel before he let her rent a room.

Suzie would fight him as hard as she had to. She believed that some battles were better left dropped, and that you truly had to choose them wisely. This one probably should have been dropped, but she was going through a lot, and she didn't deserve his attitude. That, and fighting with him was keeping her sane while she waited.
She entered the hotel, since it was the only one she knew of, and let the door drop in his face behind her.

Cute. He thought as he opened the door again and followed behind her still up to the counter. It was a different receptionist but one he knew extremely well...in the biblical sense. " Afternoon Des." he smiled charmingly.
He'd have the advantage at least that the woman behind the counter probably wouldn't even want to give this woman a room, but she'd do what he asked her to do.

Suzie tried to ignore him. She didn't even necessarily want the room so much as she just wanted him to leave her alone.
"Hello," She said to the girl behind the counter, pretending Derek wasn't there. "I need a room for one night, please."

Derek rolled his eyes were they really going to play this game?
The woman behind the counter could sense the tension from the couple in front of her and hesitated in booking the room but she got over the hesitation. She was about to speak when Derek cut her off.
" You have no rooms available Des." he said with an easy once over that made her blush.

Suzie ignored him, and even tried to ignore the girl blushing, which she knew had to be his doing.
"Now, I don't have any cash on me, but if you use this account number, I garauntee there will be more than enough in there to cover a room for a night or two, and maybe extra is there's a problem," she added, looking straight at the girl/.

Derek shook his head, " Des, call the manager for me would you?" he asked politely giving her a smile.
She nodded and picked up the receiver, the phones were mainly for decoration but they were quite useful as well for a muggle contraption. Once she had Frank Manning on the phone she handed it over to Derek.
"Manny." he said smoothly with a smile and ease of a man who knew his importance though didn't yet addressed others equally. He then spoke in another language talking to the manager. When he was finished he handed the phone back to Des.
She put it to her ear, "Yes sir." she said after a moment then glanced up at Suzette, "I'm sorry Ma'am, there are no rooms available."

Suzie very calmly nodded, and turned from the counter. She didn't meet Derek's gaze for long, though the brief second she did, her eyes flashed angrily at him. She hated him a little more every second. Zachary's friends and family, with the exception of Justin, had all treated her like crap, and she was done with it.
She would find the next hotel, and the next. He couldn't know every single one of them.

It would be his luck that he would know at least the next three, but he stopped her after that.
"Suzette." he said finally using her first name and finally in a soft tone. "That's enough."
They had walked far and she had to be exhausted, not to mention her feet must have been killing her, and all this exertion after the stress she had already faced. Derek could admire this show of courage and strength and damn him for it if there was one thing he did admire it was strength and courage, " Let me take you back to my home, and make up for our poor beginning." he offered, " You're tired and this can't be good for the baby. You've made your point. Most brilliantly and annoyingly I might add." he gave her a wry smile, " I can't say we'll be getting along at every turn, but we'll make do with common courtesy.." he paused, " and respect." he finished letting her know that in this way strange as it may seem he had given her respect, " I may have misjudged you, I am beginning to believe I had, at the same time I'm quite sure I've given you a deplorable side of myself to judge. Let us start again?" he asked and held his hand out for hers as a temporary truce, and an offer of peace between them.

Suzie glared at his hand for a moment, and then turned those burning eyes to meet his. Even behind the anger and the frsutration, she couldn't hide that she was exhausted. She didn't know where any of the hotels were in this town, so they had walked quite a ways just to find the four they had. She was tired, her feet were killing her, and she was hungry. But the last thing she wanted was relief from any of these things coming from him.
And yet, what other options did she have?
"Respecting you doesn't mean I have to like you," she said at length, and took his hand. "And it doesn't mean you have to like me."
