"Impressive." she commented stopping in the entrance hall.
Christine had seen her fair share of castles, and then some. One did not travel the world and not manage to see a great deal. Even her home was remeniscient of an ancient castle. Well the ancestral Montgomery home, her uncles had places of their own of course, and her father managed the separate lands they owned all with their own properties scattered out and about, but there was something grandly imposing about the Hogwarts Castle.
Adventure seemed to hang in the air, nooks and crannies begged to be explored and turned out in every which way. Briefly Christine felt a pang that she would only have two years to discover all the Mysteries Hogwarts had to offer, then she laughed inwardly.
Two years would be plenty of time to get to know everything about the place, she was sure about that. Still her eyes flew every which direction as if antsy to discover something or someone.
She wasn't sure where she was supposed to go either. She had been sorted into Gryffindor, but with no one here to show her the way she would have to go exploring...and get lost along the way.
She smiled then turned in a direction at random to begin said exploration.
She was pleased when she found herself descending, to the dungeons it would seem, it would appear that all the interesting things were always kept underground, she wondered what this underground would be.

"Why yes, I am," Reese said, laughing to show the girl that he was joking as he came up next to her. "You must be new."
It wasn't a negative comment or anything of the sort, just an observation. Reese was a friendly, outgoing guy, and it was just in his nature to find some way to strike up conversation.

She turned immediately to face the man who had come upon her. She heard his footsteps first but didn't think much of it until she was addressed or her comment had been.
"Oh and why's that?" she asked readily a hand finding her hip to rest upon.

"Why am I impressive, or why must you be new?" Reese asked, asking for clarification. "To the first, you'll have to stick around and see. To the second... no one whose been here for very long gives the entrance hall that look when they come in. I guess we all take it for granted after a while. Are you lost? Can I show you to somewhere?"

She nodded, "I am new, and you are impressive." she smiled finally, " Actually I was just on my way to getting lost, and directions would defeat the purpose."
She glanced around as if deciding on which route to take, "But thank you for the offer, it was kind. I'm Christine Montgomery."

"Reese Denton," he replied, offering his hand. "Gryffindor. Which I would be willing to bet you are as well. You have the look of a Gryffindor about you."
He didn't want to let her go so easily, however.
"You should take me along with you, you know."

"Oh?" she asked her eyes narrowing in amusement, "And why should I?"
He was cute and had a nice smile but she was interested in other things.

"On the outside chance that you become irrevocably lost, and can't find your way back to where you need to be. You'll need someone to point you in the right direction, won't you?" He asked, making the case for himself.

"Ah, but irrevocably lost sounds perfectly divine to me. And what makes you think I have to be anywhere?" she asked enjoying this light banter they had started.
She had no control over him and if he came with her that was fine, if he stayed that was fine but the banter the courting game of should I should I not and the powerplay for control was all amusing.

"There are not so pleasant places in the castle. Temporarily lost is usually a fun distraction... but if it's your wish to be so lost as to never come back, far be it from me to stop you."
He held up his hands in a surreandering motion. He wasn't playing any courting game with her. He was flirting with her and he was confident... that's all there was to it. If she wanted his company, brilliant, if not, oh well. No harm.

Her eyes sparkled at his first words of not so pleasant places in the castle, and she gave him a subtle grin, " There are really such places?" she asked keeping excitement from her voice. She licked her lips once mentally savoring her first scent of adventure. She didn't want to get hurt, and she didn't want to get him hurt, or either of them irrevocably lost, but she did want to see *something*.

Reese raised an eyebrow, smiling almost like a chesire cat. "And the girl finally shows interest."
He shrugged slightly. "Yes, there is a place or two around here that promises an adventure, at least. It depends on what you're looking for. What are you looking for, Christine?"

She smiled knowing her secret was cast and not caring to keep it a secret anyway, " An adventure that never ends Mr. Denton." she told him a sly grin on her face. She tilted her head at him peering speculatively, "What is it you're looking for I wonder..." she said aloud though it was more a thought, she eased up a bit then and shrugged, "What is anybody after?"

"I don't think there is one answer for that, actually," Reese replied, wondering if she was thinking something general, like love or success, and perhaps that was true, but even then, you could define what that meant different between everyone.
"In fact, I can garauntee what you are after is different from what I am after."

"I would agree with you." she replied, "as well as assume that people's desires change as they grow and experience new things." Christine's desire was to experience new things one day she would tire of it...well not of it completely, simply one day she would want to settle down and raise a family, but while she was young she wanted to do it all.

Reese chuckled. "Well, as long as we agree on that."
He put his hands in his pockets and raised an eyebrow at her. "Now, about that exploration of whatever it is you wanted to do. Oh, right. The dangerous places in the castle. Just how dangerous were you anticipating? Or hoping for?"

Biting back a reckless grin she casually shrugged, "Did I say dangerous?" she asked, not being able to recall if she did. There was an underlying sense of amusement in her eyes but they were lowered to the ground, in the hint of a smile perhaps he would have seen the same thing. Finally her eyes sought and found his, and dropping all pretenses she said quite boldly, "Hit me with your best shot."

Reese shrugged. "Been to the forest, yet?" He asked. So the school was pretty tame, but they were right next to the forbidden forest, and there were rumors of the dangers lurking in there.
"Although, I should warn you. A girl was just found murdered in the forest."

Her face went from anticipation to consternation, " A girl was murdered?" she asked, she had been out of town, she didn't know about any of this. She wasn't afraid in the least but curious and the super hero within wanted to track down and bring justice to the girl.
She nodded in the direction of the door assuming that the forest would be outside, she had no hesitations about going but felt around for her wand and her knife as a security precaution then with a firm nod, "What happened?" she asked.

"And you still want to go?" Reese asked. "I'm... oddly fascinated by you."
He followed her outside, willing to go into the forbidden forest, but even he wouldn't go in too far.
"No one really knows what happened, or who did it," he told her as they walked across the school grounds. "Just that it was an unforgiveable that killed her. There are rumors... a student, a teacher, a Death Eater, perhaps. But they're just rumors for now."
