Nathalia laughed and shrugged. "Yeah, I think so. She's been hoping for it since we met, you know. I think she just assumes we'll wake up one day and suddenly see what she's seen all along."
She smiled. "Not our story, I'm afraid. Maybe you should talk to her about this girl at the Ministry. It could work out for both of us."

"No. We did try it once though. You're mother does have to give us credit for that. We're just to much like brother and sister for what your mother is trying to see," said Luke. "I'll see if I can tell her about Fiona, but then again I don't know if that would work out because of her liking the boss. Although, I could always try until someone else catches my eye I suppose."

"Listen, Luke, eventually that girl is going to have to realize that he bossisn't paying any attention to her. At least not in the way she wants. And when she realizes that, you'll be there to fill that cliched roll of supporter and shoulder to cry on. Believe me, it works evey time."
She laughed, having found her fair share of guys that way. "And anyway, you deserve to be with a girl you like that much."

"Yeah, but I don't want it to be that way. I mean, it's nice that I can be a shoulder she could cry on, but I don't want it to happen that way. I would feel like she might be doing it just to get back at him or something." Luke shook his head. "I think I might be over looking this more than I should." He sighed.
"I'm not going to get my hopes up over that. Maybe I can find someone else that will catch my eye." Although, Luke knew that it was going to be near impossible for him to find a girl that would catch his eye like Fiona did, and he knew that Lia knew that too. "I guess. Maybe I should just stop worrying about it so much and just continue on with whatever. And no, I don't mean giving up. I mean just continuing with work because she obviously doesn't ever catch the hints that I'm trying to flirt with her from time to time."

"Some girls are hopelessly dense, Luke," Nat said, as if that made anything better. "Honestly, we're just as miserable at this relationship thing and you blokes are. I'm sure, one day, she will either open her eyes to what a wonderful guy you are, or you're going to come face to face with a girl whose known it all along. And then maybe she'll have a hot brother for me."

He was relieved that he had Lia to talk to. Luke wasn't sure what he would do if he didn't. "I hope its either way, but I'm not going to rush anything." He laughed at her last comment. "Maybe she will. Who knows? Of course I'll have to make sure that he's alright though. He'll have to go through a day hanging out with me so I can see how he acts." Luke grinned. "Then, if he acts decent enough, then you can have him."

Nat laughed. "Oh, all right, as long as he passes your test. Merlin knows mine isn't hard enough." She initially meant this sarcastically, but then, given her relationships, maybe her decency test wasn't strong enough.
"Anyway, enough talk of all that. What else is new? Surely there's something to talk about other than your work."

"Sadly, there is nothing else new. Well, I did clean up my apartment and put away all my clothes neatly. Other than that, nothing new." Luke gave a sigh. "And if I feel like it when I get home, I might alphabetize my books. I'm afraid that that's as exciting as my life gets." He gave a shake of his head. "That just sounds like loads of fun, does it not?"

"Oh, Godric. You're anal. How on earth did you ever become friends with me? I'm a mess, and it must have driven you mad."
She often felt like every part of her was a mess. Luke was clean with his things and he had his life together. Nat wasn't any of that, and sometimes she felt like she just hadn't grown up yet.
"Come visit me in New York," she offered suddenly.

Luke laughed. "I'll never know the full answer to that question," he answered truthfully. "Although, I'm not going to complain because I get a kick out of our friendship."
It seemed that they balanced each other out. They were opposites, yet they made excellent friends and he couldn't have asked for anyone better to be his friend.
"Visit you in New York?" Luke thought for a moment. He could possibly take off a little bit from work. It wasn't like they had him working in the spotlight. "Alright. I'll do that. I'll come visit you in New York sometime. That should be a bit of fun, and a huge change from here."

Nat smiled. "I get a kick out of us, too," she told him, nudging him slightly.
She nodded to encourage him to come visit her. "It's a beautiful city, if you know where to go, and trust me, it's a nice break after being here for so long. I probably won't be going back for a little while myself, but I'll try and plan it around a time I can take you with me."

"Well, that sounds like a plan to me Lia. Going to New York. I don't think that the city will be quite the same once we both get there." Luke said the last part teasingly. "I'll be looking forward to the trip. Maybe I can schedule some kind of vacation or something."
Luke was looking forward to going to New York one day. It would be a good change of place for him, even if it would be for a few days or so. He did need to get out more and possibly meet new people.

"Heavens no. We'll take it by storm. I think you'd really like New York, actually," she told him, smiling. He would get a kick out of the city, she thought. Well, maybe not at first. New York could be a little overwhelming at first. But once you settled into the flow of it, it was a great place to be.
"So yeah, we'll just work out dates and see what works best for the both of us. I'm so happy youll come!"

Luke laughed. He was sure that he would have a great time in New York. It could be an adventure that he had been wanting to go on.
"Of course I'm going to be going! Do you think that I would ever miss a chance to cause trouble and take a city by storm with you?" He grinned and spun Lia around. "What kind of person would I be if I didn't do that?"

"A terrible one!" Nat replied, spinning easily and coming back to him. "Ah, I've missed this, Luke. If I ever have to look for a reason to come home, I swear it'll be you."
She loved Luke dearly, and always had fun when she was with him. It just happened that they weren't suited for each other like her mother wished. She didn't mind, and she would be one of the happiest girls aliv when he finally found the girl he settled down with.

"And a terrible person is not something I want to be," he replied. Using a free hand, he put it to his heart. "I feel loved. Thanks Nat." Luke smiled and continued to dance with her. "I'll always be here. It's not that hard to find me."
He had seen Nathalia as a sister and that wasn't going to change between them. Luke preferred it that way because he knew that if he needed anything, he had someone he could confide in and not worry if they thought it was stupid.
"And if it makes you feel better, I'll always have some kind of need for you. After all you are practically my sister and when I need to talk, I have to have someone to talk to. Plus, I need advice every once and awhile."

"You're like a sister to me" were usually the last words any girl wanted to hear, but from Luke, she loved hearing it. The same was true of course for how she felt about him.
"You know, Luke, it's a shame you're like my brother because you have been better to me than any man Ive dated. Funny how that works. And you're still going to be my maid of honor, whenever I get married."

"Ah, and the same goes for you. You have been better to me than anyone, but then again that's how I suppose these kind of relationships go." Luke gave a shrug. "I'll be your maid of honor?" He grinned. "As long as I don't have to wear a dress, I think everything will be just fine. And of course, you shall be my best man at my wedding, that is if I ever do get married. Before you ask, yes, you have to wear those men's dress robes." Luke gave her a look to let her know that he was teasing about the last part.
