"That doesn't surprise me, actually," Nat said. "I'm going to have to find lots of things to put on your wall. But wait before you want that painting up... I'm not sure it's all that good," she laughed. "It was one of my first ones."
By now, she had ordered a glass of water so that she would slow down on her drinks.
"So, anyone here worth dancing with?"

"I'm sure that your painting is wonderful. Its like I'll be a proud parent hanging a child's work on the refrigerator." Luke laughed. "I don't really care what your opinion on it would be, because every thing you make is something worth keeping."
He finished off his drink and slowly began on another. "Hm," he said looking around. "Not really. The only person at this moment would be you. Care to dance? For old times sake?"

Nat sighed at his words, running a hand through her hair. "You're the perfect guy... you realize this, don't you?" Too bad there was just a mutual lack of interest between them.
"If you start dancing with me, other girls are going to think you're taken. But you know I'd love to dance."
(sorry so short!)

"The perfect guy? Nah, I'm nowhere near perfect," said Luke. "But thanks for thinking so." He grinned. Nathalia and Luke did date during school, however it didn't really work out. They didn't argue or anything like that, it was just they weren't compatible for each other in that way. She was more of a sister to Luke than anything, so naturally it didn't work. Although, the two did remain close friends, which he was relieved.
"Let them think whatever they want to think. I haven't seen my best friend in awhile, so I do owe her at least one dance, wouldn't you agree?"

Nathalia smiled softly. "And you're humble, too. It's ashame I like you too much to date you."
It was true. They had dated once, very briefly, until it became far too clear that she did like him way too much to continue dating him. If they had gone on for longer, they would have ended up ruining their friendship, or Merlin only knew what else. She probably wouldn't even talk to him anymore.
"All right, let's go dance."

Luke took her hand after throwing back what drink he had left and led her toward the dance floor. There were not too many people dancing, but Luke didn't mind. "I haven't danced since the last time we were at Spellbound before you left."
He kept one of Nathalia's hands and then he pput his other hand on her waist. "Forgive me ahead of time if I step on your toes."

Nat shrugged. "I'm used to it from you," she teased. She felt safe when she was with him.. it was a strange feeling to her, because she was always strong and made herself feel safe, but Luke was the one person she could relax with and really trust. He carried a lot of responsibility as her best friend, and she wondered if he even knew it.
A new song started, as if one cue, and Nat gave him a smile before they started to dance. "So this is your first time here? How do you like it compared to Spellbound?"

"Oh, so someone wants to joke around do they," Luke teased her back. He laughed and twirled her around the dance floor with ease. "Yes, it is my first time here. Actually this the first full night I've spent in my apartment. I've been so busy I haven't really had time to just relax. Plus, I like this club's location. It's not too far from my apartment. Compared to Spellbound, this one is a little nicer, considering it's new, and not to many sketchy people are here yet. I think I like this one a little bit better. What about you Ms. Webb?"

"I'm always in the mood to joke," Nat reminded him. "You should never take life too seriously. No one gets out alive, anyway."
She danced easily with him, knowing his steps well, like he knew hers. Anyone who didn't know them would think they were a couple, but they knew different, and she sincerely hoped that this Fiona girl would turn her attention to Luke. He deserved a good girl.

"True, true. But sometimes you do have to take life a little seriously because who knows what you miss if you just run around throwing flowers everywhere and humming to yourself while doing it? You could miss an opportunity of a lifetime." Luke smiled and danced with her.
The two knew each other well and could possibly predict the next move of the other. Luke didn't care if they had gotten any stares or not. He was catching up with his best friend and practical sister after all. There was nothing as important as that at the moment.
"So tell me Lia, are there any guys in your life at the moment that I should try to size up and make sure that he's right for you?"

"I'm apalled. Is that what I look like to you? Some girl running around throwing flowers everywhere?" She was teasing, of course, but the image he had painted was an amusing run. "Please. People should be throwing flowers at me."
She frowned, thinking about men in her life. "Not really. I left the last one in New York. Although I did meet someone... I'm not sure what's going on there, actually. It wasn't meant to be anything serious."

"Well, if I did have a flower I would throw it at you," Luke said playfully. "And I'm sure if guys did have flowers to throw, they would throw them at you."
He listened to her as she spoke. Hm. So there was a guy. Luke became happy for her. Lia did need someone in her life. If he made her happy, then he was alright with Luke. "Wasn't meant to be anything serious? You know that you're going to have to explain that one."

(The weirdest part about this is that I had a dream about flowers last night... and they weren't exactly thrown at me, but still...)
Nat rolled her eyes. "You don't want to hear about my sexcapades, Luke," she told him. "He was just going to be a one night deal, but he kind of caught me sneaking out, and... well. I'm supposed to see him again."
She wasn't ashamed that she had one night stands. If men in the family got away with it, why in the world couldn't she? There was no difference in her eyes.

"Well Lia, it's not like I want to know the details. Do you know how awkward that would be for me?" Luke gave a shudder. He twirled around the dancefloor easily. "Maybe this guy will be good for you. You never know. He could be Mr. Right, or he could just be wanting another night with you. Who knows? However, I do wish you luck on your date, which of course I'm sure will be decent."

Lia shrugged. "Yeah, maybe," she said, dancing easily with him. She rather doubted it. Was that terribly cynical of her? Her relationships usually ended up being toxic and harmful. Mostly, it was verbal and mental, but she had had a boyfriend or two who was a little too fond of using his wand in an arguement. She never stayed with them for long, but she had gotten too good at finding them in the first place.
"Thanks," she said when he wished her luck. Then she smiled. "Mum might have a new date..."

Dancing with Nathalia was something natural, and Luke didn't have to pay full attention as to the way he was moving. It was probably because he had known her for a good while, but nevertheless it was always fun.
"Speaking of your mum, I should stop by and see her one afternoon. I haven't seen her in a while. But a new date? At least two things are going good around here. Do tell."

Nat grinned. "You're never going to believe it. I went with her to... well, here, actually, the other night. Opening night, right? She starts dancing with this girl... who, I have to hand it to her, is very pretty. And you know her."
She raised her eyebrows, as if this was the exciting part. "You know that actress, Annalise Kennedy... I think that's her name?"

Luke started to laugh. He did know how her mother was. He would always be amused whenever her mother was around looking for someone.
"Annalise Kennedy," Luke repeated. He thought for a moment. The name sounded somewhat familiar, but Luke wasn't caught up on what was going on outside of what was really going on in the Ministry. "The name rings a bell, but I can't place the face. Although, I bet she's pretty if your mum got her. Maybe I should take your mum out one night to possibly help me." Of course, at the last line Luke gave her a teasing smile.

Nat nodded knowingly and smiled. "Remember that muggle movie I drug you to? The one about the giant monster? Annalise Kennedy was the main girl in that... the brunette. Crazy, isn't it?"
His teasing made her hit his shoulder slightly. "Jerk," she said. "I can help you. Of course, I think Mum's still trying to set you and I up."

"Oh, that girl! I knew I remembered her name from somewhere. That's pretty cool. I hope your mum stays happy with Annalise." Luke had always thought that Nathalia's mother was a nice woman. He practically grew up at her house, as well as his own.
"Hey, I'm just saying," he said laughing as she hit him. Luke looked at her curiously. You're mum is still on that? How long ago has it been?" It wasn't that Luke didn't love Lia, because he did love her but not in a more than friends kind of relationship. She was too much like his sister.
