Alenna walked into the Ravenclaw common room with a book in her hand. She had just left the library and had planned on going out to the courtyard to read her book, before realizing how cold it was. So insead, she walked up to the busy common room and took a seat on the couch. She slipped her shoes off and tucked her bare feet underneath her. But as excited as she was about divulging into her new book, Alenna instead looked around the Common room for someone to chat with.

"Do you mind?" Sofie asked as Alenna sat down. Sofie had eyed the book she was carrying the entire way. She had been both to the school's library and the library at hogsmeade not to mention three other bookstores looking for that particular book or at least she thought it was that particular book, she was asking to see the cover so she could be sure.

"No problem," Alenna said, handing the girl the book. As she read the cover, Alenna tried to remember the girl's name. S... something. Double S'es... But it couldn't come to mind. It was Alenna's weakness, remembering names. But she was positive the two had never met before, so she introduced herself.
"I'm Alenna, by the way." she said. "Or Lennie, which ever."

Sofie's eyes flashed a bit disappointed when she realized it wasn't the right book, but then she also realized the girl was talking to her, introducing herself. The proper protocol would be to introduce herself in turn.
She blinked, "Oh hi." then smiled, "Stark..uh I mean Sophia, Sofie." she sighed took a breath, "Sophia Stark but my...well um I go by Sofie." she couldn't really say her friends called her anything since she ddin't really have many.

Sophie, that was it. Alenna knew the name was a double S! "Nice to meet you Sophie," Alenna said. She noticed the dissapointed expression in Sophie's face when she returned her book to her. "Not the one you were looking for?" Alenna asked.

"Uh no..." she half smiled, "Not quite, but thank you for letting me look, "she nodded, "Are you reading that for any class in particular or...?" she let it hang off it wasn't that uncommon for Ravenclaws to just read in general.

She was reading Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, a favorite book of Alenna's. "No, just for fun," Alenna said. "Its my favorite book." She looked at the cover thoughtfully for a momnet before looking back to Sophie. "What book are you looking for, maybe I could help?"

"Oh, I thought perhaps Muggle Studies, but it's a fantastic play." she said about Jekyll and Hyde, " Monte Cristo." she said with a faint sigh, " I can't seem to find my copy and it's well... my father used to read it to me at night." she shrugged, then rolled her eyes, "Kind of like a security blanket I guess you'd say...silly I know."

"No I understand completely," Alenna said. "My mother used to read to me every night, she read The Princess Bride though," the very copy of that book her mother always read was in her trunk upstairs come to think of it.
"And I love the play too, I wanted to audition, but I'm too young, maybe after school..." Alenna said, refering to the book in hand. She wanted to act and sing, but her parents wanted otherwise. She had seen the play a dozen times with her siblings though, behind her parents' backs.
"Have you looked for Monte Cristo in the library in Hogsmeade?" Alenna offered.

"I have, but I think that it's just not well stocked with what might be considered, "Muggle Literature" " she said with a shrug. She didn't care, the stories were good to her.
"Oh what part would you try for?" she asked interested.

"Lucy," Alenna said. "I practiced 'Someone Like You' in my room for months after seeing the play," she said. Alenna didn't like to brag, but she thought she was pretty good. "How about you?" Alenna asked. "Would you audition for a role?" Even if Sophie didn't perfer acting, Alenna was curious. Different people liked different things and she was facinated by things that other people were facinated in.

(OOC: You get ten points for knowing that musical lol, although I don't think it was out during this time period)
Sophia shook her head quickly, "'No not me...I'd...well I don't think I'd do well at acting." Sophia didn't think she'd do well at singing either, but she didn't practice either thing anyway so it didn't matter to her. She did appreciate the opera however, and musicals too upon occasion.
"But you...you like to sing?"

((I just recently discovered it and was totally captivated!!))
"I love to sing," Alenna said with a smile. "I might make it my career one day...singing," Alenna grabbed her knees andbrought thm close to her again. She checked the floor and made sure her shoes were still there before turning back to Sophie. "What about you, what do you like to do?" Alenna asked.

(It's a great musical I'm doing "Once Upon A Dream" for my voice class)
Sofie tried to think of what she liked to do and she realized, "I like to think." then she laughed, "I mean...I like to think...a lot...maybe daydream I just like learning...and yes...thinking." she thought too much too often and she never stopped thinking, she just couldn't. Her mind would wander on Buddha's teachings, and to Machiavelli, not to mention the wizarding influentials.
"I think it'd be neat to be able to sing though..."

"Thinking's good," Alenna said. She like'd going of to think every once and a while. "Singing isn't that hard," Alenna said. "Everyone can do it, you just have to find your pitch and stuff. I've been singing forever, in church and things like that, it just takes practice." She smiled. "You could do it if you wanted to."

"Oh...no I don't think I could ever...well um...no...but thanks...no.." she smiled, and flushed. It wasn't that she had stage fright or anything but somehow the fact that she had nearly bored everyone she had talked to in the past made her the one wary of people, she doubted she could do well at singing in the first place, she'd likely put the audience,...if there was one... to sleep.
"but I'd love to hear you sing sometimes...there's one girl...but I don't know who she is...she sings sometimes at the whomping willow...although I don't know why anyone would sing near that thing."

"Maybe to calm it?" Alenna sugested. "I wouldn't know, but it would be interesting to find out, huh?" Alenna asked. The Whomping Willow frightened her a bit, to tell the truth. Any time she was near it, Lennie always had the feeling it was there for different reasons besides gardening castrophies and it creeped her out.
Out side, rain had begun, and it hit the window in sheats. "Wonderful weather," Alenna said with a little sarcasm, she didn't like the idea of being couped up, but didn't mind either, she liked the company.

Sophia agreed, "I think your right, the tree does calm when she's singing." she shrugged and continued listening to Lennie.
Sofie looked at the window and smiled, "I like it when it rains." she said without thought, "Oh...I mean.." Alenna had a semi-scornful tone about the weath as it was now and Sofie wanted to defend herself, "Just sort of makes me want to read by the fire with hot chocolate..."

"That sounds nice," Alenna said. She liked the thought of hot chocolate on a rainy evening. "I just don't really like how crowded the common room gets, since everyone is inside." Alenna liked people, and she liked socializing with people, but it could get pretty hectic with so many people in the same area.

It was nice. Eespeically at home with her family nearby. Sophia didn't like lightning storms however, they frightened her. She didn't know why, it was against rationality to fear it but the noise coupled with the light, was just something she didn't handle well.
" It can get pretty crowded"
