Bek didn't really know where she was going until she found herself up in the owlery one late evening. She smiled as one of the smaller barn owls flew down toward her and pecked her shoulder softly. She pet its wing and it flew off again, hooting at her a thank you for the attention.
Bek walked over to the window and leaned out, seeing all the stars above her. Bek was slightly glad she didn't pay much attention in Astronomy, the stars wouldn't be as wonderous to her if she had.
She ran a hand through her thick black hair, all the way to the tips where she had dyed it red for a number of unknown reasons.
Bek was contemplating writing to her mother while she was up here when she heard a creak ot the door and Bek turned to see who else would come up here so late.

Reese hated writing, but his mother deserved a letter every now and then. He felt guilty every time she wrote and he didn't send a letter back, so he was in the owlry tonight.
He glanced at Bek, a little surprised, but smiled. He knew her from being in the same house, and had talked to her on occassion.
"Hey. You're here awfully late."

((Yay, Finally, I was beginning to think this thread was a lost cause))
She saw Reese walk into the owlery, letter in hand. He seemed surprised to see her. When he mentioned the time, Bek shecked her watch and realized it was awefully late. "So I am," she said. "I was wandering."
"What are you doing here so late Reese?" she asked. Reese was in her house and a year below her, once and a while they'd find themselves in convorsation and Bek always thought he was a charming kid.

(Sorry, doll. Been fallin' behind lately)
Reese shrugged at her question. "I was supposed to write home about four days ago," he answered her honestly. "I figured I'd get a howler from my Mum if I didn't hurry up and send word home. You know how mothers can be."
He also thought the owlry would have been empty this late, but he certainly didn't mind her company.

(Don't worry about it, I've got a feelin i'm gunna be pretty scarse soon enough)
"Yea, I was just contemplating writing to my mom as well, but I'm lazy at the moment," Bek smiled back. She jumped up and took a seat on one of the window sills, leaning against the frame.
"So, how have you been?" She asked. "We haven't talked in a while."

"It's been far too long since we've talked," Reese agreed, leaning against the wall behind him. Both of them seemed to be completely at ease and comfortable with each other. Reese made friends easily, so maybe it wasn't saying much that he considered Bek a friend, but he did.
"I wish I had something exciting to tell you, but I really don't. I've been meaning to ask you how you're doing lately, though."

"I've been alright I guess," Bek said with a nod. "Nothing too interesting either. Although I've been pretty busy helping Maxi prepare for the Tasks for the Tournament," Bek added. Reese and Bek had eased into convorsation, something Bek could only do with her friends, she tended to be a little quieter around others she didn't know. But she and Reese were friends, so their convorsation was no problem.

Reese nodded. "I bet she's nervous. I've spoken with Alice once or twice about it all. Funny, they're all girls." He gave her a teasing smile.
"It's all right. It just means you girls can kick the boys' arses any day. And that I believe." The school was full of strong girls, and he loved them all. It was the mousey ones with no personality that he didn't have time for.

"You know that's right," Bek said with a laugh. "We girls are best at everything!" She laughed again and leaned back, forgetting that she was still sitting on the window sill. Bek quickly reached out her hands and grabbed onto the stones that formed the window, pulling herself back in and smiling at Reese sheepishly with a blush on her face.

Reese laughed once he was sure she wasn't about to plummet to her death. Girls can do anything better... granted, he wasn't going to say otherwise. He already told her she was right, more or less, but the situation was ironic and it made him smile.
"Yes, I can see that," he told her, his eyes asking if she was okay.

Shut up," she teased, smiling as she hopped off the sill. Probably best to not risk falling again. She brushed off her robes and smiled at Reese, proving she was okay.
"Weren't you sending a letter or something?" Bek asked when she realized he hadn't really moved since he came in.

Reese shook his head slightly and laughed at himself, looking down at the parchment in his hands. "Yes, I guess I was," he said. "Thanks for the reminder."
He moved more towards the center of the room, clicking with his tongue until his barn owl swooped down, and he took her over to the sill Bek had just been falling off of. As he tied the parchment to her leg, he asked, "I assume you already sent yours?"

"Actually, I haven't even written it yet," Bek said. She reached in her pocket and found some paper and a quill. Quickly, she scribbled a letter, full of apology for it being late and letting her mother know she's fine and alive. With her mother being a muggle, she didn't know anything about KAtie's recent death here at Hogwarts, and Bek decided she'd like to keep it that way, especially with the holidays coming and all.
When her letter was finished, she rolled it up and found a tie in her pocket. She looked for an owl that Bek believed could make the flight to Brooklyn, where her mother lived. She picked out one of the larger barn owls and called her down. The owl landed on a pearch beside Bek, and she tied the letter to the owls leg with one hand, and pet it's wing with the other. "Okay, Brooklyn. Its a long trip, be safe," she said to the owl. Bek smiled and then brought the bird to the window, letting it fly off.

Reese laughed. "Most people write their letters before coming up here. Although, I've noticed a few of the Gryffindor girls come up here to think and such. Odd place, really. But then again, I guess it's one of the few places that is ever actually quiet."
He had his arms folded across his chest. "Brooklyn, hm? Did I ever know that about you?"

"I like it up here," Bek said. "I don't know, something about being up here, it's calming, even if it is covered in owl droppings," she smiled.
"And yeah, Brooklyn, can ya tell?" She asked, flipping her black and red haid over her shoulder. "No, you probably didn't know. I don't really talk about home all that often, I'd miss my mom to much."

Reese nodded. "Fair enough. I always knew you had a funny little accent, I guess I just never really thought about it enough to peg you as an American. Learn something new every day, right?"
He turned and looked for somewhere clean to either lean or sit, and turned back to her. "What else is there about you that I should know?"

"Oh, I'm not that interesting," Bek smiled modestly. She really didn't think she was interesting. To her, the only thing that made Bek stand out was that she was muggle born, which is something she had decided to keep to herself lately. Checking and making sure she wouldn't fall through the window again, Bek sat on the sill from earlier.
Another owl flew down and perched itself on Bek's knee. She smiled and pet its wing absently as she looked back to Reese. "What about you Reese? What makes you stand out from all the rest?"

"Careful," Reese warned her when she hopped back up on the windowsill. "I'm not sure I trust you to keep your balance anymore."
He smiled and chuckled at her question. "Do I stand out? I wasn't aware," he said, shrugging. "But I'm perfect, of course. So that might have something to do with it."
Of course he was only joking, and his friends were used to it from him.

"Oh har har," Bek laughed ."Very funny. No, I meant what makes you special," Bek explained. "Like, for instance..." she moved to be more stable on the windowsill. "I'm a clumsy witch from Brooklyn," she laughed.

Reese pretended to think about it very hard, and finally just shrugged. "No, really. I'm kind of perfect, so..." he trailed off and winked at her.
"I don't know, Bek. I'm... an overconfident quidditch player from Wales. There you go... I don't think I ever told you I was Welsh."
