"You're replacement for me, obviously." Rystain finished for her. His hands relaxed and his eyes gazed over the man who had inserted himself as the obvious target for his anger. But he wouldn't give the man the satisfaction. The man was nothing as far as Rystain was concerned. Just another of Lyra's little toys to make her feel better, he even felt a bit of pitty for the man but not much. His gaze dismissed the man and went back to Lyra. He wasn't sure what to say to her, how to respond... what did she expect from him when she'd been just as guilty of making him choose someone. "I guess you move on quickly then, I'm glad you weren't in love for long then. I am glad that guilt for hurting you was for nothing."

She should have been broken into a pile of nothingness on the floor after such a nasty comment. But she was furious at his assumptions. All of them. He had assumed last night that she would move on without giving him another glance. He assumed now that she was seeing Julian. And everything in his assumptions screamed that he thought she was a whore. What a f*ucking hypocrite! "Oh I'm sure you had a lot of guilt. Lucky for you, you had Lani to help get over it in, what? 1/2 a second?" Her free hand twitched, she wanted to slap him. She ground her teeth to suppress the urge.

"We didn't even do anything... regardless of what you think. Lyra I.. I am sorry, despite what it seems like... I never meant to hurt you." He looked at her, the honesty in his eyes but he knew she would likely ignore it. He still completely ignored the man holding her, of no consequence to him other than that he hoped Lyra found her rebound made her hurt less. But inside he was still hurting.. he had never wanted to say goodbye to Lyra. He sighed and looked away, "I should go."

Julian let her battle him on her own terms, she knew more about what was going on, he was just there if she needed him, which she didn't appear to do.
Still he could feel her tensing, he could almost feel her pain and he wanted to teach this boy a lesson.
He leaned down to brush a whisper against her cheek "There are three scenarios here love...I can pummel this boy senseless," not that it would take much pummeling he was already an idiot for dumping Lyra, "you could let him bow out, or we could give him a show...it's up to you love, I'm your man"

Her first instinct was to take Julian up on his offer to fight Rystain. And even though she wanted to hurt him the way he had hurt her, it was only the emotional pain she really needed him to feel. Not the physical. Not unless he continued to piss her off.
She turned her head slightly and smiled at Julian. The only real way to make Rystain hurt, if he cared at all about her, was to continue with his assumption that she was with Julian. And expand on it. "Show," she replied softly so that Rystain couldn't hear.

He grinned at her, " Yes...why don't you do that Tristan. My fiance and I have some catching up to do." he said quite loudly enough, but didn't wait for Lyra to be shocked by his words and instead showed Rystain what kind of catching up they had to do by turning her in his arms and pressing his lips against hers.
If ever a kiss could make you forget that your heart was lying shattered somewhere, Julian was a pro at providing them. He was slow at first but intense, he didn't part her lips yet but instead allowed her and himself for that matter a gentle taste of this "show" before becoming a bit more insistant with his lips. It was a drugging kiss meant to keep her languid and happy.

His lips were pressed gently against hers before she could even look at Rystain's reaction. She barely had time to react herself. But the shock was forgotten with the intensity of his kiss and she wrapped her arms around his neck, caught up in the moment. Just as she had done with Rystain, she stood on her toes, too short to meet his lips without him bending awkwardly. She hoped Rystain got a good look at her figure.

Rystain tensed again, damn her to hell. Fiance? And just when did she get a fiance? She obviously hadn't had one as of last night or she wouldn't have said the things she had to him... she wouldn't have run out of the room in tears ripping at his heart the way she had. No this was something new and he wasn't sure how to take it. However he didn't quite believe that this man was suddenly her fiance out of nowhere, and that made him suspicious of the whole thing.
The man had made one mistake, he knew Lyra and her responses... he saw her shock but that wasn't even it.. he'd seen her eyes last night and he knew that if anything this man had only been a rebound.. not some hidden fiance in her broom closet. He wasn't stupid, no despite his lazy charm he hid a quite complex mind enough to figure some things out. But he did do one thing and that was that he got a good look at Lyra's figure as she stretched up to kiss the man.
None of that changed the fact that he wanted to hurt the man for touching her though. He knew he could take that man on, despite a few years in age. And right now he had the advantage with the man kissing Lyra. All of that crossed into his mind but he refused to react to his instincts. Instead he spoke softly, "Well I hope you two will be blessedly happy in your future marriage, it seems I made the right choice after all Lyra. I would hate to have asked to marry you when you already had a fiance in your pocket." And with that he turned on his heel and walked down the corridor passing by them.
After all, he did have sweet Lani to think of who actually wanted him and wasn't in another man's arms. He headed in the direction of the kitchens.

Julian kept her against him kept her mind buzzing, he could hear what Rystain was saying, the cruel words he was spouting, and he knew it was Rystain's shock and hurt that was causing him to say such things, well good, he should be hurt. He broke a woman's heart, he did the unforgivable and he deserved to be in pain, but Lyra did not. So Julian tried to turn her, tried to shelter her from his words and tried to kiss her into oblivion.

Julian's plan to distract her from Rystain's words did not work. But to keep herself from crying she had to keep kissing Julian. If Rystain saw her tears she would have to deal with this all over again. Her arms tightened around Julian's neck, begging him to hold her tighter so that she wouldn't lose her balance and fall. Her knees felt weak, and not in the fun, tingly way.
Once Rystain was gone she pushed herself away from Julian's lips and buried her head in his chest. "Oh f*ck. What did I do? Oh Merlin." She had just validated his decision in choosing Lani. She had made him think he was right to leave Lyra.

He held her as tight as she wanted to be held and was just short of picking her up. She may be able to kiss like that and not have it affect her but damned if he wasn't just a little uncomfortable now, but he had Lyra to deal with and to comfort.
"It's okay sweetheart." he held her, "It'll work out." he half smiled a bit, and tried to catch her eyes, " I'm doing Sam a favor, and in the short time I've known you I've gotten to be quite...quite fond...but I wasn't actually proposing marriage." he kissed her forehead, "I'm a long childhood suitor come to claim his blushing bride, who had no notice of what her father had proposed. I just happened to catch you at the right time because you were upset over another love. You have no real intention of marrying me, and your feelings for that boy were legitimate. He'll realize I'm a rebound, and in the end he'll still be miserable. I promise he'll be miserable, but you won't be alright?"

Lyra continued to bury her face into his shirt. She wasn't crying, not yet, but she could feel the tears starting to gather. She had to get out of there. Pulling herself away from the comfort of Julian's chest, she whirled around and looked in the direction of the Slytherin Dungeon. "Where the f*ck is Sam?" She then walked the few feet to the entrance, hollered the password angrily, and stepped inside. She only poked her head back out long enough to glare at Julian. "Are you coming or not?"

He raised an eyebrow at her and at that glare but stepped in calmly after her more than a little wary, although he didn't show it, about whatever curses or jinx were in store for him by crossing into the Slytherin Common room. Still he was a bit more wary of Lyra now and her being so upset, he worried about the tongue lashing Sam was going to receive, in general he was mildly worried but he followed her, silent for now.

The first place she thought to try was Sam's dormitory. "I suggest you don't try the dorms. There are enchantments to keep your lot out." Lyra didn't look at Julian before heading down the stairs. She was so angry with herself for what had happened in the corridor that she didn't even think twice about taking girls' dorm stairs, which at any point could meant that she could be face to face with Lani. She didn't take very long to reached the fifth year room, then pounded on the door.

Julian was about to offer to go with her anyway and attempt to disarm the enchantments, he knew it could be done, he knew it had been done, but he didn't know how to do it so when Lyra released him from the entanglement he nodded graciously. He would still go if she wanted him to but as of yet she appeared to be doing all right on her own.
"I'll be here."

Samantha was busy at her desk writing an article about Lyra. She knew that soon enough Rita would be on what had happened between Lyra and Rystain and she wanted to nip that juicy bit of gossip in the butt while also getting out her own letter for the magazine. All in all she had been up all night protecting Lyra's reputation and she was exhausted.

There was no answer as Lyra waited there in the stairwell. She debated going to look somewhere other than Slytherin quarters but thought she ought to have a look inside, just in case Sam had fallen asleep or was otherwise preoccupied. She opened the door rather calmly, a complete contradiction to the crazy ball of nerves and anger she currently felt. She stepped inside when she saw the brunette at her desk. It seemed all of Sam's roommates had already gone down to breakfast. Lyra shut the door to keep her voice from traveling.
"Do you often leave your friends with strange men after having drugged them? Or am I just special?" She moved across the room and sat on one of the beds nearest Samantha. Her own words and the ones Julian had uttered earlier mingled together. ...you may just be her first friend, although I could tell you that being her enemy is worse than deadly. Lyra hoped Sam really was her friend, and not using her as a toy in some odd little game of hers. Julian had pointed out how different Sam acted here, compared to in France. Was it an act?

"Lyra!" she said startled at the voice as ink spilled over the letter, "sh*t!" she cursed. A contradiction to her usual poised manner and proper mouth she grabbed for the letter made a face and used her wand to clean everything. It took more energy than she thought it would which meant she was tired. It wasn't just because of Lyra, but everything lately had her on edge, Lyra was just what had pushed her over.
Finally she was registering what her friend had said and blinked a bit her eyes widening and going to the clock, "You were supposed to be out for another hour at least. I'm sorry" she apologized, " I didn't want to leave you alone...oh Julian...uh..." she frowned when Lyra put it the way she did it sounded very bad, " He's the perfect gentleman I promise! He wouldn't do anything...I mean...He's he's a good guy.." she finished.
"Are you okay?"

"Oh yes, the perfect gentleman. Especially when Rystain saw us together and assumed Julian was my rebound. Julian told him he was my fiancee! Rystain's so mad at me right now. I can tell." Even someone who was not as attuned to Rystain's emotional state as Lyra could have been able to tell he was not pleased with her.
She looked at the parchment Sam was fussing over. It looked like Sam was writing an essay. "You ditched me for homework? You couldn't have woken me up for that?"

"No it's not homework it's ...nevermind. What do you mean Rystain...wait." she wasn't working up to her usual speed and had to make sense of things.
"Julian said he was your fiance?" that was a bit much, she hadn't intended but it would work, she shook her head, " No one was supposed to see him yet...and I was supposed to introduce you..." she sighed, this was one hell of a morning.
"Where is he?" she asked worried what he would do on his own but not that worried she was worried about soothing her friends nerves.
"Look I don't know about Rystain right now but if he's as angry as you says he is then good. He should be angry, he should be smashed. Into thousands of pieces." she nodded triumphantly, " Did he say something to upset you?"
Because Sam would send Julian to physically hurt Rystain were that the case.
