Not put off at all by her accusations he smirked and stepped a bit closer, " If I killed her eh...?" he asked in a low tone, he was still walking towards her although more menacing with each step, " Stashed her body somewhere..." he whispered now against her cheek. His breath was warm and sweet, but her skin was soft and tempting.
"It wouldn'tve been hard you know...to sneak in here...not when you look like this naturally." he said throwing her words back at her, claiming his own superior status lookwise, "and Samantha...well she is rather easily handled...manipulated and all, it just takes a charming face and a few words of flattery." he was teasing now but was also dangerously close to her.
There was an aura of restrained power about him that he usually kept on a tight leash so he appeared jovial and light, it was not all there was to him by anymeans.

Lyra chuckled, not in the least intimidated by his words or his demeanor. In fact, she was rather intrigued by him but he was a stranger still, even if he and Sam did have a past of some sort. She wouldn't play games with him long. She took a single step back, separating them by very little but it was enough. "Maybe I should go find Sam." She looked at Julian for a response.

"And if you can't find her?" he asked though his voice was with drawn into a sultry whisper.
"Will you still assume the worst of me?" he asked amused before stepping back, he was glad she had chuckled by his move, other girls might have screamed or been afraid not all girls could play games or were any bit adept at them. He assumed he might have made her nervous and that she was just placing a well developed front which was why he backed off gracefully while he was used to a crying female he didn't like being the cause of one.

She laughed again but moved toward the door to leave. Her hand was on the doorknob when she stopped, and stared blankly at the wood. She was safe on this side of the door. There was only one person who knew of her humiliation and he seemed neither sympathetic nor mocking. What awaited her on the other side was likely to be a mixture of both. She couldn't decide which was worse but she wanted neither of it.

"You didn't strike me as the fearful type..." he said coming up behind her, " What's on the other side of that door?" he asked after seeing her hesitation. He didn't know the specifics of her humiliation, oh Sam had filled him in on a few things and why he was needed for damage control but up til this point she looked tough as nails and ready to take on the world...was she really worried about what was on the other side of that door?

She whirled around and glared, or stared fiercely anyway, at him. "Who says I'm afraid? Its just a door. On the other side is just the school, students, my friends. I don't have anything to be afraid of." Despite her strong words her heart was beating faster. She couldn't go out there, she needed Sam. She needed Rystain. Her head began to swirl, and she leaned back against the door. Was this what a panic attack felt like?

He nodded and smiled gently, "My mistake." there was no pity in his eyes, he was simply salvaging her pride by asking, " Well perhaps you could help me find Sam as well?"
It was an offer to walk the halls with her, to get her to wherever she had to go but with a tall dark and handsome on her arm. This was what he was there for after all.
" Be my escort?"

She thought on this, still frustrated with not knowing what was going on, and even more annoyed that she really was scared to leave the room. She had to find Sam because Sam wouldn't keep her in the dark. She nodded slowly. "Fine. You'd probably get lost anyway. And then I wouldn't have you or Sam to talk to." She found the knob again and turned it, pulling open the door.

He grinned, almost wolfishly at her but nodded and followed her out. Then he took her arm and put it in his he looked to her and said quite seriously, "So I don't...as you say get lost." he teased.
Really he was holding on to her for three reasons, the first in case she decided to bolt like a skittish colt she couldn't because he had her arm, the second was to instill a few rumors of his own, and the third he just liked holding on to pretty girls, call him a lech if you will.
But it would have it's desired affect, if anyone saw them from afar at least it didn't look as if Lyra was pining after anyone.

She gave him a sideways glance but allowed him to hold her arm. The heat of his skin eased her nerves as they walked through the school, heading for the Slytherin Dungeon. She hoped they would find Sam before she accidentally ran into Rystain. Or worse, Lani. Of the many things she couldn't handle today, seeing Lani topped that list. "How long are you expected to be staying here?"

"I've rented an apartment in a town close by." he told her simply as they walked he was glad that she had calmed a bit he relaxed as well as he took in the place where Sam attended school, it was vastly different from Beauxbatons, especially being led into the dungeons where Beauxbatons most things were light and beautiful it was such a contrast.

"You're so wonderful with precise answers," she commented. "I absolutely adore that about you." She looked sideways at him and smiled. "So you're staying in Hogsmeade? Nice and close for whatever secret mission Sam's got you on. I'm surprised she not sneaking you into the Girls' dorm somehow."

"Oh I imagine that she'll get me exactly where she wants me, which may be too bad because I'm exactly where *I* want to be right now." he informed her. He knew he had set her a bit on edge where he was concerned and how she didn't really know him but he had been in her room, still if anything it only made him more amused by her reactions, and her "brave face".
Though he doubted that brave face was for him and not the school he was still happy to see spirit in her.

"So you want to be here in the dungeons? Maybe I should leave you here then. I don't know that I can get you in the Common Room anyway. You know, that's the one thing I've never tried." And she hadn't heard of anyone else bringing a non-Slytherin into the Slytherin dungeons before. If she and Rystain had been on better terms she would have asked him. He had plenty of girls over his time here, surely he would know. But then, if she was still alright with Rystain, she doubted Julian would be here and she would not be needing to find Sam.
She stopped walking, they were halfway to the entrance but it would be pointless, most likely, to try getting Julian in there. "I don't want to do this." She gave up trying to save any face. She just couldn't do it. Not yet.

Rystain emerged from the Slytherin common rooms, he had slept through the night with Lani beside him and woken with them both still clothed and kissed her good morning before she left back to her own room when he left to take a shower. His hair was still slightly damp but he wasn't smiling. Things were still playing over in his mind of the night before and he wasn't happy with where they'd put him. He was going to try to at least make one of them happy but he still wasn't sure he'd be able to live up to Lani's standards. And his mind drifted to Lyra and how she was dealing with things now that Lani was gone and he could think clearly about them both.
He came up short when he saw Lyra standing in the dungeon corridor with another man he'd never seen before. The look on his face was like stone, he should have expected it.. after all wasnt' that one of the reasons he hadn't picked her? Because she would recover with her no strings attached rebounds? But he couldn't help but feel a stab of pain at the sight of her.

"Why don't you try?" he asked concerning getting him into the common room, "If what Nicolas would have me believe is true, it's not that difficult at all." he told her soothingly. Nicolas had been there before with Charlotte and he had hardly been the first outsider in the Slytherin common room.
"Hey..." he said when she stopped, he placed his hands lightly on her shoulders, " Whatever's inside there, whatever you think you can't face, know that you're ten times the person just to be standing up now. I've had my fair share of damsels in distress...Sam hasn't gotten around to telling you about what I do and why I do it, but here's the truth of it, you're not a damsel in distress. You don't need me. You woke up this morning vibrant in your entire frame and a challenge at every step. You made going through hell look beautiful. You're strong, and you're confident even when you're afraid. I don't know you very well but if this is supposed to be the worst of you Miss Newbury, then all I have to say is you're one hell of a woman." at some point during his speech he had turned her and kept her walking in what he hoped was the path to the Slytherin common room.
Not that he would have known it but he led her correctly down the hallway to the point where they were almost just in front of the door and he stopped.
" Take my hand, take me in there, and just keep your eyes on me. No one else exists." his voice was calm, steady and strong, much like his overall appearance and his eyes...they were something to get lost in. He smiled then, "Until we can take Sam to the coals for leaving you with a stranger."

She nodded numbly as Julian spoke. She didn't know what Nicholas he was talking about, and didn't ask. His speech made her feel better, more confident. She even laughed at his last remark. Sam would be getting an earful. "Thanks."
They reached the entrance to the common room. But before she could give the password, the door swung open. Please let it be Sam, she thought. But her luck was not that good. Not these days. "Rystain," she said faintly.

Rystain's jaw clenched unconsiously. He had no right to be upset after what he'd done to her, but he couldn't help the feeling. His hands flexed into fists and he wanted to punch the guy but he wasn't about to do that. No, of course Lyra would not miss a single night alone without him. She was obviously still wearing the clothes she'd had on last night and rumpled as if they'd been laying crumpled on the floor, her hair toussled and sexy. No of course she hadn't gone to her own bed last night... she would have found another man to take away her pain. She would rebound with the best of them, and not look twice at him.
Did everything that happened last night really happen? Maybe Lyra had changed her mind about loving him.. maybe she'd been mistaken or was just playing games with him. He shouldn't feel jealous, he had no right to.. but all he could get out was her name... "Lyra..."

Julian turned at the same time he heard the footsteps and there was no need for introduction this was definitely the boy who had crumpled Lyra's heart. As men often did Julian took measure of the younger man. He was three years the boy's senior, but aside from the independence that came from being out of school and doing whatever he pleased, he imagined Rystain wasn't just a seventeen year old boy and therefore Julian wouldn't underestimate him.
Sam had brought in the best after all and it was Julian's job to make this man sorry he had ever hurt Lyra, although by the looks of him now Julian saw that his job wasn't going to be that difficult, in fact it was already done, Rystain looked upset, and almost angry enough to punch a stranger. Julian's eyes almost taunted and asked him to try it but inwardly he was still assessing the boy and how to move on from there.
He did however step closer to Lyra almost in a protective way and his hand was at her back in a comforting way. If he could somehow transfer strength to her through him. Then he stepped forward, no one had said his name, "Julian." he said almost in a comical way after the two had whispered eachothers. His name was spoken confidently and strongly to bring them out of their reveries, "Faust." he finished as if introducing himself.

She was too shocked at Rystain's untimely appearance to notice his own shock. If she had, it might have made her feel better. Luckily Julian's firm voice steadied her, as did the pressure of his hand on her back. She looked at Julian who was making light of the intense dialogue. "Oh yes. I'm sorry, this is Rystain. A schoolmate." She looked then to Rystain. "And this is Julian, my-" Stranger?
