After a long business trip doing the Dark Lord's work, Ursula finally returned to town. Her first thoughts were of seeing her family again, so she immediately owled her brother Kenneth and her daughter Nathalia, inviting them out for an evening at Le Repas Cher.
Ursula didn't cook, and wasn't much of an entertainer. Her apartment was sparsely decorated, because she hardly spent any time there. So the restaurant seemed like the perfect option.
She got there quickly, dressed in her best dress robes. She hardly ever dressed up, so this was definitely a special occasion. As the host showed her to her table, she settled down and waited for her brother and his wife to show up. Nathalia, she knew, would take a bit longer to arrive.

Walking through the streets of London, he stared at the piece of parchment in his hand. His eldest sister had owled him and said she would be back in town and would like to get together. Smiling at the thought of his lovely sister he quickly disapparated, appearing in front of the classy restaurant in Hogsmeade, La Repas Cher. He entered and his eyes shot daggers towards the host as he jumped up and escorted him to the table where Ursula sat.
"Dearest Ursie, it's good to see you again!" Hugging his sister, he took the seat opposite the table and glanced towards the door for a second wondering where Kara was. "How have you been Ursie?"

(Tsk. Men. They always make assumptions.)
"Kenny!" Ursula gushed. "It's so good to see you! But where is your lovely wife? She hasn't decided to wise up and leave you, did she?" she said with a laugh.

((sure just admit it ... you forgot to tell me ....))
Kara had been sitting and reading a book, not something she did all the time but it was an occasional pleasure when her husband was gone and she had nothing better to do. Today was one of those days. She looked up from her book and realized what time it was. Kenneth wasn't home yet and she was beginning to worry. Then she remembered why, he had told her the other night that they were supposed to meet with his eldest sister today and she had completely let it slip her mind. She was already running late she knew. Luckily she was already dressed and just needed to slip her boots on and she walked over to a mirrior and actually took the time to fix her hair.
She made sure the house was secure as she stood on the front doorstep and apparated into Hogsmede, outside the restaraunt. She hadn't made an effort to dress any differently than normal, although she had a skirt on today instead of her pants, and her usual cloak around her shoulders. She walked into the resaraunt and followed the host to the table her husband and his sister were already sitting at.
Kara leaned over and kissed her husband's cheek, "Sorry I was late dear, I got distracted. How are you Ursula?" She said as she went to sit next to her husband.

Smiling as his wife showed up and kissed him, he reached over and held her hand. "Yes Ursie darling, Kara is having an affair with a book!" Laughing he leaned over and kissed his wife gently on the cheek. "Your never late my love, the fun doesnt start until you show." He whispered quietly as he sat back in his chair, enjoying the moment of being back with his eldest sibling.

Ursula rose from her seat to give her sister-in-law a quick hug. "Kara, darling, so glad you could join us!" she said. "It really has been just too long since we've seen each other. I swear, I've been just so busy, I've hardly even had time to write. Nathalia will be joining us soon, too... It's been ages since I've seen my baby girl. Now, tell me, both of you, what is going on in your lives? Tell me everything."

Kara gave Ursula a hug and then sat down smiling. "Not much really, the same things as always since you've been gone. Just the same old types of jobs as always." She really didn't want to say anything about Kat yet, she figured it was Ken's sister and if he wanted her to know he should be the one to tell her.

Ursula shook her head. "Oh, you guys are just no fun. All you two ever think about is work. You guys need to get out more. Be social, have fun. Or, you know, take up a hobby. I've recently discovered kickboxing myself. It's not only a great workout, it also provides a great outlet for your frustration. Especially if you can find someone worth kicking." She laughed. "But have you heard from any of our extended family? Kara, I read that article about your niece, Andromeda. Shameful behavior. Druella must have been livid."

"I've never really thought about a hobby... maybe I should think about one, or convince Ken to take up one with me." She grinned at her husband with a playful wink, showing that her idea of a hobby may not necessarily be his sister's idea of a hobby.
"Yes my sister was quite livid, and as a result of the child's scandalous behaviour has been disowned by the family. Can you imagine, the girl dating a mudblood like that? The shame is an understatement. It's sad that she had such an ungrateful child so early on, I can only hope that her other two children have at least upheld the family name. At least Bellatrix has been an exceptional neice. You could never ask for a better one, in my opinion."

Ursula shook her head. "It's a shame, really. If that kind of thing can happen to the Blacks, what will be come of the rest of us? Although, I have to say, I almost expect that kind of behavior from my own daughter. I think I was a little too loose with Nathalia when she was growing up."

Ken sat quietly while he listened and watch his sister and wife's conversation. One thing that Ken always did love about Kara was how his family had fallen just about as much in love with her as he had. "Heh, have you two forgotten we already have a hobby..." With a quick glance down to his right forearm where the dark mark was, he hoped they had gotten the hint. As Ursula began talking about his niece and her turning out like Cygnus's eldest he almost laughed.
"Ya but Ursie, Cygnus and Druella were harder on those kids than anyone i've ever met and Andromeda still managed to go rebel." Grinning he thought about how infuriated Cygnus and Druella must be at the actions of their eldest daughter. "Besides, Nathalia is a good kid. Don't forget she comes from good stock." Winking at his sister he reached over and grabbed his wife's hand, gripping it tightly. "Ursie...Kara and I have a secret I believe you need to hear..."

Kara gripped Ken's hand tightly. She knew it'd been coming, and was only a matter of time before he spoke up about it. They'd agreed that his sister needed to find out, especially if Kat was going to hopefully become part of their life. She'd been pregnant while Ursula had been gone on an assignment, so she'd never known about the pregnancy or the baby. But she also knew that they'd have to tell her. She half held her breath and let her husband tell his sister. But her fingers didn't ease one moment, and her leg slid next to his under the table for comfort of feeling him closer.

Ursula raised her eyebrows at the sudden change of tone. She looked from Kenneth to Kara and back again. What could the big secret be? Leaning forward, she braced her elbows on the table. "What kind of secret are we talking about here? You two haven't decided to run off and join one of those muggle hippie communes, have you?"

Ken grinned across the table at his sister, she always seemed to have a joke or six hidden away somewhere. "Very funny, big sis." Feeling Kara about as close as she could be to him without it being inappropriate for a public setting his smile faded replaced by a look of seriousness. "I believe you were on...a business trip during the time. Plus we actively tried to keep this hidden, but um...you have a niece Ursie..."

Ursula raised her eyebrows. "A niece?" she repeated. "Well, that's not a bad thing... why were you keeping it hidden? When was she born? You should have brought her with you! I know I've been gone a while, but I can't believe you'd keep this from me. Tell me all about her!"

Kenneth sighed with relief that his sister wasn't more upset at not being told about Katarina. Leaning in close he lowered his voice so as not to be overheard by other tables. "She's sixteen, we kept her hidden because..." He paused for a moment letting the words die unsaid. He needed to figure out a proper way to say what needed to be said. "Things have gotten bad Ursie, the...boss has the Ministry freaked out. Not to mention the Daily Prophet has been giving so much bad publicity to them lately, they've become desperate."
Pausing for a moment he glanced over at his lovely wife and smiled at her, Kara always was the source of his strength even now. "We all knew it was coming Ursie when we started this but Kara and I couldn't risk our baby. We both agreed to take the risks and the rewards of following the boss. Our baby however did not, so we have kept her in hiding but she's sixteen now and I think we're ready to let her know we exist..."

Ursula was stunned. "Whoa, whoa... wait just a minute," she said incredulously. "Sixteen years? You had a baby sixteen years ago, and kept her hidden, even from me, all this time?"
Ursula tried to think back 16 years previously. She was a young, single mother at the time, having had an ugly breakup with Nathalia's father shortly before discovering her pregnancy. In the days before Nathalia was born, Ursula had been a rebel, going against many of her family's beliefs and traditions. She'd been working at the Ministry at the time, and during the time when Kenneth's daughter must have been born, Ursula realized she had been on a six-month business trip in Romania, during which she had brought three-year-old Nathalia with her. She'd hired a nanny to take care of Nathalia during the day... and wound up in a relationship with the young woman. It had been her first--but certainly not her last--relationship with a woman. She remembered when she came back, telling Kenneth about her sexuality. He hadn't taken it well at first, and they'd had a nasty fight over it. In the end, he learned to adjust and get used to the idea. But for a while, she'd been very angry with him.
"That was the business trip where I came back and told you I was gay!" Ursula said accusingly. "And you yelled at me for it, when all along, you had a child you weren't telling me about! I can't believe you would be so hypocritical!"

"Ursula, that's hardly hypocritical. They are two completely different issues. Your choices to spit in the face of all the traditions of long wizarding lines of high status families by choosing not to take a husband isn't even on the same page as hiding a daughter for safety. We couldn't tell anyone, you know as well as I that our ..boss knows legilimancy and you aren't an occlumens. If he had known from you, it would have been pointless to hide her in the first place. And there are others who could easily have used it against us and we weren't about to jeopardize her safety for our choices no matter the cost."
She frowned at Ursula for even trying to compare the two situations which were so vastly different. She was also miffed that her sister-in-law was upset at all, at least they had the decency to be married with a child... continuing their pure bloodlines. Ursula for all they knew didn't even know if the father of her child was a pureblood and the woman had no intention to marry a pureblood wizard and have children. How dare she judge them, and Kara stiffened.

Ursula, on the other hand, couldn't understand why Kara thought she had the right to be so self-righteous. She and Kenneth were married, and no one, not even the Dark Lord, would have thought anything of them having a child. Despite her unorthodox lifestyle, Ursula was very much a family person, and she could see no legitimate reason for a married couple to hide their child, as if they were ashamed of her. Protection was, in Ursula's opinion, a pretty lame excuse for denying a child her right to be raised by her rightful parents for 15 years. It wasn't as if they themselves were a danger to the girl.
"I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous," she said bluntly. "Look at Thatcher and Alicia. They serve him and have 5 children. And Benjamin and Emma have those three delicate princesses, in addition to Jadon. You don't see them hiding any of their kids away. Didn't you hear what He said? He says children represent blind loyalty. They're the future of the movement. You missed your chance to mold that girl properly, by sending her off to be raised by someone else. I may have had my rebellious past, but at least I raised my daughter on my own, and didn't make excuses because it was too hard."

Kenneth watched the exchange between Kara and Ursula with caution. Both women were hot tempered and this could of easily broken out into an all out shouting match, they were family and deep down they liked each other but when you throw two bulls next to each other eventually they will fight. As Ursula began to bring up their extended family tree Kenneth nearly reached across the table and throttled his sister. "Ursula, I won't have you comparing us to the Scotts or the Burke's..."
"Thatcher and Alicia have five kids, only one of which has followed in their footsteps and possibly maybe one more. Bloody hell Ursie you know as well as I do Gwen, Timothy and Thane are lost to our cause. The Burke's have three spoiled brats with perfect golden hair and annoying as hell. How many of those dimwits you think would join us? The whole lot of em are gonna end up as dumb, high class house witches." Pausing for a moment he took a few deep breaths to calm himself down some, this was his eldest sister after all and he loved her dearly. "Besides Ursie...we didn't want to mold our daughter, we want her to make her own decisions."
