Kara looked truely worried when the children returned. She wanted nothing more than for her daughter to accept them, to be able to make up for all the years they'd had to keep her safe. She knew there would be a lot of questions that they really couldn't answer directly but she did want Kat to know that it had been for her safety and out of love that they'd given her up as a baby.
"Katarina, we want you to know that we love you and we have always loved you. And there isn't a day that hasn't gone by that we haven't thought about you or longed to have you with us, to raise you ourselves. More than anything I want you to know how much your father and I have always loved and wanted you. I know this is going to be hard, you don't know us at all... but we want to find a way to make it up to you."

Kat sat quietly, listening to Mrs. Webb... her mother. Occasionally she'd give Tim's hand an extra squeeze just to remind her that he was still there. Everything is so surreal to Kat. She didn't know how to act, what to say, what to feel. The only thing that came to her mind was the single word that left her lips in near silence.
"Why?"

"Katarina, we had no choice but to let my sister raise you and stay away. We had to for your safety. We couldn't risk anything happening to you. There are things we still can't tell you about why, but the details aren't important. The reason is. We wanted you safe and no matter how much we love you, we couldn't put you in danger. We stayed away because we love you and wanted you to grow up safe. We've spent the last sixteen years waiting to meet you. There hasn't been a day that goes by then you have not been the first thought in our minds. Your father and I love you very much, we always have." Kara watched her daughter, her eyes filled with emotion and that love was reflected there, and tears of loss for the time she'd missed watching Katarina grow up.
"I regret all the years we've lost getting to know you, but I don't regret keeping you safe. Now that you are sixteen, you're old enough to know who we are and we want to be part of your life if you will let us. If you'll let us get to know you, and make up for all the years we couldn't be with you, even though we wanted to."
Kara was half holding her breath, her hand was squeezing Ken's in an almost death grip. She was so afraid that Katarina would turn them away, yell at them, blame them for abandoning her. But in reality, they had done it out of love, and Kara prayed taht Katarina would give them a chance to finally be a family.

Ken sat in almost a daze, speechless as his wife continued on. This was one of those rare moments when Kara had herself together a bit more than Ken did. "Kat, we had you live with your aunt and uncle because we knew they were far enough away from the wizarding world to protect you from some very bad people." Sighing he realized that there wasn't much more he could add on to his wife's wonderful speech. "I know you must have a lot of questions..." Letting the words fade into nothing, he stared deeply into Kat's lovely eyes. "We'll answer any questions you have, we just want to be a part of your life again..Katarina."

Kat smiled as her...mother... spoke. They both seemed to genuinely love her, and though they did dance around the specifics of why they left her with her aunt and uncle, The Webbs did sound as if they had a good reason for everything.
To here right, Kat squeezed Tim's hand again. She hoped her grip wasn't hurting him. Tim had said the Webbs were good people, they were friends of his family. So she shouldn't be nervous.
When her...father... said that they wanted to become a part of her life, she didn't know what to say. Questions? Of course she had questions! Kat just couldn't form them into words as of right now. She had lived at least the past six years as mostly independent, as doing things for herself and alone. And now all of the sudden, she had people who cared about her and were suddenly there for her. Her mother, her father, Tim. It was like everything was changing so quickly and Kat didn't know what to do.
"Okay," she said calmly, though she had a death grip on Tim's hand and her insided were twisting into knots. "I...I want you two as a part of my life too."

Kara visibly relaxed. Her fears now obvious that she'd been worried Kat would hate them for what they'd had to do. It was her worst nightmare, that Kat would not want anything to do with them or that something would happen to Kat. Either way, Kara would have been devistated. "Katarina, I only wish I could express what that means to us. Thank you for... for giving us a chance.. to make it up to you and to let us know each other. And more than anything, for letting us be part of your life. You have grown into such a beautiful girl, and I'm sure you have so many other qualities that we can't wait to learn about you."

Kat gripped Tim's hand as if it were the only thing keeping her alive. He sat there quietly watching the scene unfold before him with a mixture of amazement and horror. Wrapping his other arm around Kat's waist, he pulled her as close as he could manage, whispering things in her ear every so often such as. "It's okay kitty Kat, i'm right here if you need me" Listening as Kara spoke about how happy she had been that Kat wanted them in her lives, Timmy's anger got the best of him and he glared at both the Webbs.
"Mr and Ms. Webb, if you dare to hurt Kat again I promise you, you'll have to deal with me next..."

Kara's head turned slowly towards the boy who had spoken to them. One graceful and deadly eyebrow slowly rose at his defiant challenge. Yes, the boy was a Scotts to the core... loyal and rebellious and.. not afraid to speak for those he loves. If it had been any other moment she would have been mixed with the desire to teach him a lesson he would never forget or to give him respect for those very same qualities.
Today however, he was speaking about her daugther and the one person she would give her life for besides her husband and the Dark Lord. "Do not dare to even suggest I would harm a hair on her head unless it meant saving her life. Even from a Scotts, I will not take such an insult lightly, so next time choose your words with more respect."
Kara's eyes flickered to Tanya to keep her nephew in line. If anyone could match Tanya, Kara could... and both of them knew it. No one threatned her and least of all insinuated that she would harm her only daughter who she loved more than anything in the world.

Reaching his arm over he wrapped it gently around his wife's shoulders and pulled her close to him. "Kara stop that. Your acting worse than Tanya." Leaning over slightly he placed a small kiss on her cheek, hoping to calm her down some. Moving his gaze over to meet Tim's he smiled brightly at the young boy. "Tim, i'm glad Katarina has found someone who is willing to protect her the way you do." Leaning in close he released his hold on Kara and eyed both Kat and Tim. "I promise both of you, now that Kara and I have Katarina back in our lives. We're gonna spend every minute making up for sixteen years of being stupid parents, starting right now..."
Focusing his gaze directly onto Kat now, his smile faded and was replaced with a solemn look. "Kat, your mother and I would like you to move in with us..."

Kara was not immune to her husband's calming effect. He always knew her better than anyone, including how to gentle her edges when they managed to appear. She sighed and let the matter drop, her eyes first on Tim and then dropping softly to Kat. Ken was right, of course... Kat was lucky to have someone willing to protect her so fiercely and it had managed to earn a bit of respect for the boy despite his boldness. She wondered how he'd react at dinner when she'd had a chance to talk to his parents about arranging their marriage. She hid a chuckle at the thought.
Then Ken spoke about her moving to live with them, and she held her breath.

Kat looked between her parents to Tim to the sugar on the table again. Move-in with them? Everything was happening so fast. Just this morning, she was Kat Gresh, a girl who was only slightly nervous because she was meeting Tim's aunt. Now, she was Katarina Webb, a girl she has yet to meet.
She didn't know how to react to it all, it was overwhelming. "I would love to," Kat said quietly. "But what about Aunt Nancy and Uncal Tom?" she asked. Her aunt and uncle had raised her, for the entire 16 years of her life, they were her family; the people she came home to every christmas and summer holiday, the one's she wrote to and asked for advice from. She couldn't just go live with the Webbs and leave the people who had done nothing more than love her in the dust.

Ken could hardly speak he was so choked up with happiness at this moment. They had met their daughter and in their nervousness dropped a ton of bricks on her along with asking her to move in, but the best part was she had said yes. Then his eyes lowered a bit as she brought up Kara's squib sister and her muggle husband. What did Ken think would happen though, of course the girl grew attached to them they're all she knew. "I'm sure we can figure out a way for you to see your aunt and uncle whenever you want...." Pausing for a moment he knew Kara wouldn't like this next part.
"During the holidays we usually eat with other families such as Tanya and the Scotts, but I don't see why we can't have two holiday dinners and one can be just us and your aunt and uncle, what do you think Kat will that be good for you?" Flashing his best smile he didn't care what Kara thought at the moment, they had their daughter back and thats what mattered most.

Kat thought about it, knowing she'd contact her relatives as soon as possible about the idea for Holiday dinners.
"Alright then," she said. Again, Kat wished for something to drink from the shop, anything that she could focus on that wasn't as overwhelming as what was around her right now. She was elated at the new life she was about to begin, the life of a daughter and not just a niece. Though she loved her aunt and uncle dearly, she had been waiting for this day her entire life. She just couldn't wrap her mind around they fact that they were finally here.

Kara tensed as he mentioned holidays with her sister, and she avoided looking at anyone. She was grateful that her sister Nancy had taken their daughter in, but that didn't change the fact that she disliked her squib sister. True it wasn't her fault that she hadn't been born a witch, but she'd gone the way of muggles and though she was useful for hiding their daughter... she'd been burned from the family tree. Then of course there was Druella and Michael, her other siblings who would not look well upon her if she spoke to Nancy. Even in all the time that Kat had been with them, she'd never contacted her sister other than a letter to care for Katarina and that someday she would return for her. But the thought of seeing her disowned sister again made her sick.
Kara tried not to show her emotions over the complex relations of the Rosier family, at least not where Katarina could see them. But Ken would know that tension in her and why. After all it had been his idea in the first place to use Nancy to keep Katarina safe. Kara had wanted nothing more than to keep her daughter, but she knew he'd been right to do it to keep her safe. But that didn't mean it didn't hurt any less.
Kara for once couldn't give a reply, though she was happy Katarina had agreed to stay with them. She would do what she had to for Katarina, but she didn't have to like that part. This time it was Kara's turn to stare at the sugar.

Tanya watched the exchange with silent amusement, the awkwardness of it all was very quaint. She would have rolled her eyes at Kenneth if he wasn't a friend. She turned to Timothy though, "Timothy, if you'd like I'm sure I can arrange for you to join them if Katarina wishes." After all, she was intending to have Thatcher marry them off together that it would be an opportunity to make them be together more often outside of school. After all she did still love her family and she knew it would also make Timothy happy.

Timothy's head was a mess of swirling emotions he couldn't even begin to imagine what Kat must be going through, deciding the cute little hand holding just wasn't going to cut it for support anymore, he had his arm wrapped around her, and her head resting on his shoulder. He wouldn't let anyone hurt his kitty Kat, even the people at this table who thought they were so big and bad. "Kat, would you like something to drink...?" Snapping his fingers with all the class of his high society upbringing a waiter quickly sauntered over to their table. "Bring the lady whatever she would like and make it quick."
Slowly brushing his hand through her hair, he sat there, his mind still tumbling around unable to fully absorb the whole situation. "Join them....live with Kat.....but...?"

This was all way too much for any sixteen year old to handle and at the moment, Kat was sure her head was spinning. As Tim ordered the waiter over, she smiled weakly. It wasn't very often that Tim did things that showed his classy upbringing, and Kat found it quite different from the Tim she knew from school. Not a bad different, just a different different.
"Just a coffee please," Kat said to the waiter quietly. As the waiter sped off, Kat tuned into what Ms. Scotts and Tim were talking about. Tim move in with her and her parents? Kat cared about Tim, but that was a little extreme wasn't it? Tim had a family to go home to, with his parents and brothers and sister. Why would Tim need to move in with the Webbs? "Um..." was all she said, but it was so inaudiable, she doubted anyone heard her.

Their confusion wasn't lost on Tanya, "I meant as a guest, Timothy. For a weekend or so to help Katarina adjust to a new home. You share the same common room now, it would not be much different and I have a feeling she could use the support." She nodded pointedly to his arm around her shoulder as if to prove her point. Had they really thought she'd let her nephew move in with them? Seriously, she had her limits on what was proper for students their age, especially her nephew. She wouldn't jeopardize some scandal before they were at least properly betrothed. Silly children.

Kenneth sat and smiled as he listened to the exchange between Tanya and the kids. Laughing at their confusion over Tanya's suggestion Ken squeezed his wife's hand a little to remind them both that this was real and it was happening. "Tim, if you would like to stay for a weekend or so to help Kat readjust your more than welcome and i'll just have to let your parents know they're out of luck if they want ya." Grinning he eyed both the kids and then Tanya, the woman was evil but he owed her big for this, she gave them a better present than anyone else ever could of. "Well, ultimately that decision is up to you Kat..."

Kat looked between Ms. Scotts, Tim, and her father, glad that she was finally abole to catch onto what was going on. She looked at Tim and smiled. "Well, I don't mind if you dont," she said. She looked around the table and sipped her coffee, she couldn't believe this was happening. It was all so surreal.
