Today had been Grace's day off, she'd been the doctor on call though this evening and had been called in when one of the other mediwitches had needed to leave suddenly. She'd just finished healing a patient and was now going through the rounds to check on the other patients in the ward she was in. It was already evening however and she wasn't really tired since it was near the end of the shift she was covering for.
She paused at the nurse's desk to write a few notes on one of the patients and only half listened as the woman tried telling her about some dress that Grace just didn't have an interest in the conversation for. Instead she kept writing and nodding at the woman until she trailed off and found some real work to do. Grace sighed and finished her diagnosis report.

Alastor stood in his apartment staring at himself in the mirror as if he were a school girl preparing for a date. Brushing his robes off quickly he decided he looked as good as he could hope for. This night he was off to St. Mungo's to get a check up, so he could be sure that he won't fall apart in the middle of a fight. With the recent death of the young gryffindor girl, one could never be too safe and Alastor knew all too well the dangers of an old injury starting to act up during a fight.
Yet St. Mungo's also held one other treasure, a certain mediwitch by the name of Grace Concordia. Alastor couldn't help but smile at the memory of the gorgeous mediwitch. Turning towards the door he quickly disapparated and appeared in front of the wizard hospital. Entering he saw the lone receptionist sitting at the front desk. Approaching her he locked his eyes onto hers, "You already know who I am, call Grace down here I need to have an examination."

Grace received a message from the receptionist via a disembodied magical voice system and she raised her eyebrows. Dr Concorida you're needed at the front desk. Grace wondered why anyone would be calling her to the front desk today, she didn't remember any appointments scheduled for herself or the healer she was covering for. She had just been there for emergencies today but since her other patients were already taken care of she went down to the front desk to see what the fuss was about. If it had been an emergency she would have been told.
Calmly and gracefully she walked around the corner and opened the door and saw her explanation standing there. The one wizard who never made an appointment, was a regular to the hospital, and made her warm just looking at her. But she had never let her personal attraction affect her professionalism towards the auror. She did however smile at his presence. "Alastor Moody.." she nodded to the man and raised an eyebrow. ".. did you manage to get yourself hurt again, or are you just visiting?" She knew he had a knack for surviving things and wearing the scars to prove it, somehow he always ended up right in the thick of things and getting himself hurt. But he seemed healthy enough just looking at him.

Alastor turned at the sound of an all too familiar voice and almost fell over. Grace was standing there in all her glory, looking just as beautiful as before. Approaching the beautiful mediwitch his eyes locked onto hers and no matter how hard he tried he felt lost in them and couldn't move. "I...I need a checkup, to make sure old injuries don't start acting up on me." Deciding it would not be wise to say more with anybody who wished to listening in. "Care to show me to a room darlin?"

She looked into his eyes, he had sexy eyes she noticed for not the first time and they seemed to be locked onto hers and for a moment she couldn't look away. Then Grace remembered where she was and nodded and smiled softly, "Of course, Mr. Moody, follow me." Her words were calm and she turned knowing he would follow. She opened the door to the hallway and then led him towards the checkup rooms in one of the wings close to where her office was. It wasn't far from the triage area she was watching over today, and it was the private rooms she normally used for more privacy sensitive patients. Mr. Moody, being an auror, was one of those.
As she walked her hips held a gentle natural sway to them, her legs where long and graceful, and her steps were sturdy and sure. She looked back to make sure he was still following before continuing until they reached a door that she opened for him to enter. "Have a seat on the table, Alastor." She watched him as he moved, though it it was more like watching a man than a patient. She shook her head softly and walked in behind him closing the door.

Alastor followed behind Grace, his willpower all that was preventing him from drooling over himself. She was lovely indeed and not for the first time had Alastor noticed this. Entering the room as she directed he sat on the table and patted the spot next to him. "Care to join me?" With a quick wink his face took back its solemn appearance and his voice took a tone of serious reality. "Things are bad Grace, I think a battle is coming soon and I dont want it to be my last. I need you to make sure I havent been too hasty on leaving her last time."

Grace knew he was a flirt with several of the other female healers here and tried not to take him too personally. Moody was the type who never seemed to have time for a woman regardless of his wandering eyes. She chuckled softly, but those eyes were too sexy to be ignored. She didn't join him however she might have liked to. She didn't have his file handy so instead she asked him it would be much quicker than pulling out the largest file the hospital had on a person just to figure out which injury he was referring to. She hadn't been there during his last visit, but she remembered Danny mentioning his visit and how he'd left before she was done.
"That bad? I had hoped it was all rumor, but there have been more injuries and curses lately here too. I shouldn't be surprised. And I don't want it to be your last either." She frowned, the one thing about her job she hated was death. She hated the fact that she couldn't save everyone. But to loose Moody would likely feel more personal to her, but maybe that was just because she was used to seeing him at the Hospital. The infallible Moody couldn't die, not if she could help it. "Tell me what happened the last time you were here. I haven't read your file since then."
She began her routine checkup on him though as she spoke, her hands gentle on him as she worked.

Alastor felt the soft touch of the lovely mediwitch and everytime her fingers touched his skin a small tingle ran up his spine. "I don't know what my injuries were exactly but my left leg was hobbled, I believe one of my lungs was punctured or atleast injured." Pausing for a moment he thought back to his last trip here and all the places that seemed to hurt. "Other than those two major injuries just the usual bumps and bruises but i'm no doctor, thats your job darlin."
Looking at the gorgeous redhead he decided that this was the perfect time to ask Grace the one question he had been wanting to ask. "Um, Grace...what do you think about maybe...having dinner with me sometime?"

Grace had been looking over Alastor, she was used to him flirting, and used to hearing him flirt with some of the other healers that she tried not to take his flirting too seriously. But she managed to push just a bit too hard on his abdomen from surprise when he asked that question and heard him grunt in pain. "sorry" she mumbled.
Grace looked up at his face then. Since when did Alastor Moody ever have time for a dinner? And with her? She was truly caught by surprise. "You mean you actually stop to eat?" She covered her surprise with a joke. Her hand was still on his abs but her eyes were on Moody's. She felt warmth as she realized he was asking her on a date.

Alastor stared at the ground as Grace made a joke about Alastor taking time off to eat. He knew she was joking but she was also right, Alastor had begun to let his job take over his life. Deciding he would not let this new evil coming over the wizarding world also take over his life he took a deep breath. Moving his gaze to her hands he placed his hands over hers. "Yes, I would like you to come to dinner with me. I have other Auror's who can watch over things for me for atleast one night."
Smiling at Grace he grunted slightly and let her continue her probing of his injuries.

Grace looked at him for a long moment, before nodding and a smile appearing in her eyes. "I would love to have dinner with you. Under one condition... you have to stay put this time until I'm done healing you, assuming you need any healing." She winked at him. He hadn't said when he wanted to have dinner but she assumed he would have to make time first. She understood the requirements of time from a job. She too was very focused on her job and spent much of her life attending to work.
She move her hand over the rib that had been broken and moved her fingers to probe for any sign of pain, "How does this feel?" She asked softly, still focused on her work but able to do that while she talked to him. She had one of those easy bedside manners that made talking and working simultaneous when she wanted to.

"I could never bring myself to take my eyes off your beauty." Shutting his mouth too late as the words had already escaped he cringed slightly but not from pain. "So I was thinking, um how about tomorrow evening at La Repas Cher?" Mentally hitting himself he wondered how he could be so stupid, he never let his guard down yet for some reason when he was around Grace the rest of the world ceased to exist for that moment in time as if he and Grace were the only two people in existence at that moment.
"Of course i'll stay, it's why I came in the first place." He smiled probably the goofiest smile anyone will ever have the pleasure of seeing on Alastor's face

Grace was completely taken off guard by his words, so much so that she forgot she was even checking him over as her hands stilled. He came to ask her on a date or to stay and be healed? And then she saw his smile and her heart melted. He thought she was beautiful? The thoughts tumbled in her head. "I think you have yourself a date, Alastor. Now take your pants off." She turned away so her back was to him and was meanwhile trying not to grin and laugh. He looked so sweet when he made that goofy smile, she couldn't help but say yes to him.

What was wrong with him? Alastor never knew why but whenever he was around Grace something seemed to possess him and cause him to act like some lovesick puppy. Deciding that if he used humor that Grace would forget about the comment he made without thinking earlier. Hopping off the table as Grace turned her back to him he dropped his pants and looked over at Grace admiring her dedication to the art of healing. "Now I am not very good at this date thing but shouldn't the date come before I take off my pants?" Chuckling he jumped back on the table and pulled a blanket over him.
"You can turn around now dear, the pants have come off."

Grace let a soft chuckle escape her lips as she turned back to see Alastor with his modest blanket on. He was adorable, and she had not forgotten his comment in the least. Nor did she want to. "Well then, I guess I'm not your usual date then am I? I like to see the goods before I invest." She could give as good as she got, and smirked beneath her smile.
"Which leg did you hurt?" She said as she folded part of the blanket up near his thigh so she could examine his leg, before he had a chance to answer however she lifted one of them at the knee and her fingers started to explore starting at his ankles and her efficient movements working her hands up to his knee and to his thigh. Her eyes however were exploring the muscles on his legs.

"Its the right leg, was nearly knocked useless." Staring off into nothing he began to rifle through memories of the battle that had wounded him so badly last time he was in here. The flashes of spells and the screams of the death eaters rang loudly in his ears as if he were reliving the battle this very moment. Closing his eyes he rededicated himself to catching these evil wizards and bringing them to the justice they so rightly deserve. "A student was killed you know, fifteen year old girl in Gryffindor House." Blinking away the moisture that had begun to form once more on his eyes, that began to form every time he thought of poor Katie Lawrence.

Satisfied that the left leg was fine she moved to the right, beginning the same process as before. Her fingers were firm, sure and gentle. She noticed that he didn't elaborate on how his leg was nearly knocked useless but she didn't pry, it wasn't necessary for her diagnosis this time.
When he mentioned the student however her hands faltered and she looked up into his eyes. Her own held an almost instant pain. She'd not heard of the death yet and it hit her with full force. Death was the worst possible outcome in her profession, but the death of a child was nearly unbearable to her. She had been a Hufflepuff student in her years of Hogwarts but she knew that if Katie was in Gryffindor, she must have been a very brave and courageous child indeed. She didn't miss the moisture in his eyes, but her shock was evident. It didn't matter how often she was forced to deal with death, it was never any easier. And a child... she let go of his leg and shuddered with sadness. She wanted to sink to the floor. It didn't matter that she didn't know the girl.. to her every death was like reliving her own parents death.. the ones she couldn't save always hit her.

Seeing the shock instantly come over here, Alastor was not surprised. Only those without a heart could feel nothing over the death of a child, it was a tragedy and she should be mourned. Hopping off the table he realized a second too late he didnt have the blanket anymore, grabbing it he quickly wrapped himself up and then wrapped his arms around Grace, hugging her close. "Nothing could of been done for the child darlin, they've begun using Unforgiveables." He whispered quietly into her ear. "Try not to fret to much, I envy the poor girl she won't be here to witness the very dark days that lie ahead of us."

Grace shook her head in complete shock when he mentioned the unforgiveables, "the.. killing curse? she died from ..oh merlin no..." It was a healer's worst nightmare, the one thing that no matter how hard she tried, you couldn't bring back those that were instantly dead. She shuddered in his arms. That poor child, and her parents... those left behind to mourn her death. The thought was unbearable to her. She didn't even notice Alastor's lack of pants at that point or the blanket around his waist. But she let him hold her. She knew she should be stronger against this.. death is something she had to deal with in her job.. but it was her greatest fear. The death of others. His last words were heard but she could only respond softly, "it really will be that bad then.. senseless deaths... I can barely imagine the darkness that means, but I believe you. If they are killing innocent children... then they will be dark days indeed."

Listening as Grace spoke, he realized it felt good to hold her in his arms. Alastor had never felt this way about anyone and it felt good, it felt like everything in the world wasn't completely bad. He had spent so long living in the darkness that his enemies hid in, that he had forgot what it was like to step into the light and feel real emotions. Without even thinking about his actions he planted a firm kiss on her head. "I have the best auror's in existence working with me on this case. Every death of an innocent will be repaid tenfold, I swear it."
Realizing once more that he was standing there wearing only a blanket from the waist down he smiled. "You know, people will talk if they see me hugging you wearing only a blanket."
