Arachne walked calmly into the Great Hall. She immediately saw the black drapes and grinned inwardly. She loved black days, she loved seeing the confusion and sorrow that was reflected in the students eyes. But she let none of it show. Instead she kept her calm and cool demeanor other than a slightly concerned facade that to anyone else looked as if she really cared what happened and was affected by the mood of the room. Inwardly however she was enjoying it. She noticed her boss was already at the staff tables and let her gaze casually glide over him along with the other faculty already there so as no look of recognition shined in her eyes.
She did however look over at the Slytherin table and saw Rabastan, her eyes connected with his for a brief moment before she lowered her lashes and continued walking to the staff tables.

As her eyes swept the tables, and came back to her own, she glanced at Rystain, hoping to catch his eyes. Rystain was watching Lani when she looked at him and he wondered what she was thinking. ((sorry it's short)) |

Julie breathed a sigh of slight relief at the sight of him, and stood from her chair to join him. "Hi, Daniel," she said softly, for once not having to yell over the students. She wanted to ask how he was doing, but what kind of a question was that, really? She reached out anyway, her hand gripping his forearm. "It's terrible, isn't it?" Daniel smiled as Julie joined him. It wasn't his full smile though, just a smile of relief as he saw her. She reached out and put her hand on his forarm, and he covered it with his other hand. "I just don't..." He sighed. "I don't understand how anyone could do this, especially to a child," Daniel said. He looked over to Professor Dumbledore and Proffessor McGonagall who were speaking with each other quietly. "I think he's handling it well, don't you think, telling everyone at once." |

She spotted Nate immediately and joined him at the table. "Hey," she whispered. "You haven't heard anything, have you?" Nate shook his head, he hadn't heard about anything yet but he was starting to hear the rumors now. But most seemed to be guesses or assumptions and he wasn't sure what was true or not. "I don't know but ... it looks like maybe someone.. died." He spoke very softly. |

One of the students moved and she finally saw Thane. She let out a long breath that she hadn't realized she was holding.
One of them was safe, sitting at his table with a girl that he looked worried for. Well, everyone in the hall looked worried for someone.

Gage had almost forgotton about dinner, being too engrossed in a new book he had found in the library. But the second he had entered, he wished he was back in the library. Everything was drapped in black and the room was eeirly silent. Gage looked around and saw Bek sitting with a group of very sad students. On the other side of the room, Seth was looking wildly around and was slightly fidgity. Gage caught the older boy's eye and saw him sigh a bit, almost as if he was in relief. Gage waved and looked around a bit before looking back to Seth, a look of questioning on his face.

Rystain was watching Lani when she looked at him and he wondered what she was thinking.
Lani took in a breath, realizing his eyes were already on her, and curse it all, it made her stomach flutter for just a second. It was almost like she felt he had caught her doing something wrong.
"Hi," she whispered the word, so it would probably seem to him like she was only mouthing it.

Rayne nodded, frowning more deeply. "Yes... I was thinking that, too," she replied, just as softly. Who, though? There were so many people that weren't here that it was impossible to tell. She looked around for the champions... something couldn't have already happened, could it? The girl from Hufflepuff wasn't here yet.
"You don't think it has to do with the tournament, do you?"

Seth caught Gage's eye and sighed a bit. he had hoped that Gage was with Maxi, but to no avail. She still hadn't come yet. He saw Gage's questioning glance, and Seth could only answer with a shrug. He knew as much as anyone he guessed.
Seth looked around some more before getting Gage's attention again and pointion to the yellow button on Seth's robes that read "Seth Supports Maxi" on it. His gesture was clear.
Where the heck was Maxi?

Charlotte entered a little later than usual, but arrived with her casual nonchalance, even the color scheme didn't seem to affect her, maybe someone had died, how droll and now they were having an assembly oh how sweet, she would have rolled her eyes except it might have spoiled the picture. Sighing she picked a seat at random but it happened to be across from Dorian.

Her fear was that whoever was responsible was still on the loose, and maybe even in the castle. What would stop them from striking again?

Ryan glanced at Charlotte as she sat down, since he seemed to have lost Lani's attention.
He creased his brow. "Hey. You all right?" he asked. He would have asked anyone who sat down across from him.

Rystain's frown faded but he gave Lani a look that he didn't realize was on his face. He wanted her near him but he knew it he couldn't say that or even do anything about it. Instead he just mouthed to her his own 'hello' across the table. He had the urge to touch her and his fingers twitched with the effort not to reach out. He wasn't normally like this, and he wasn't sure if it was the mood in the room or his own mood today that was causing him to want a girl where he normally could ignore them if he wanted to.

Lani opened her mouth like she was about to say something, but Dorian spoke up next to her, and it caught her off guard.
She broke the eye contact with Rystain, looking first at Ryan, then across the table at Charlotte.
"Hi, Charlotte," she said.

Daniel seemed to have read between the lines of what Julie was saying. "Whoever did it wouldn't dare comeback to the castle..." Daniel said, taking a seat next to Julie. "They won't get away with it, Dumbledore won't let that happen." He knew the headmaster's fist step would be to protect the students and the school from any harm. But that didn't stop them with this student... |

"I don't really know... maybe.. but.. I doubt it. I'm sure we'd have heard something if they'd started the tournament early." Nate was scanning the crowds now and trying to figure out who it could be.

"Well, no, I don't suspect he would, if he knew who had done it, Julie replied to Daniel. It was hard to catch an invisible enemy.
"It couldn't have been a Death Eater, though, I don't think. They're careful to make sure you knew it was them. And that, I think, is a good thing."

Rayne eyed Nate. "This is stupid and ridiculous," she announced, but quietly so only he would hear her.
"Why is he letting all of us sit here and worry and wonder what's going on? Isn't that just making things worse for everyone? It's... it's making everything more terrifying."
