Amadora didn't always join the students for dinner, preferring to stay be with her youngest daughter unless she was already fed. But tonight she had been told to attend and after checking on Clarissa she walked down to the Great Hall. This was not going to be a good night no matter how you sliced it, but she wanted to be there for them and for her husband and other staff who might need her tonight. She passed by Samantha and Daniel who seemed to be talking and up to her chair next to where her husband usually sat. He wasn't there yet but she was sure he would be soon. In the mean time she scanned the students watching and waiting for the news.

After talking with Caleb and assuring him that she was okay she moved to go sit down with her housemates. This time she sat next to Rystain and hoped that Seth would be around to sit on the other side of her, she didn't want Rafe to start anything. "Hey."

Caleb had someone else to find and after assuring himself that Sam was okay, he needed to know that this wasn't about Adele, he didn't know how she had wormed her way into his mind but she was there and she was important to him.

Rystain nodded at Sam and didn't say anything when she sat between himself and where Seth normally sat. He could make his own assumptions about why and he figured he knew it had something to do with stalker-boy. "You okay, Sam?" he whispered to her.

"Fine." she answered, with a smile. Still she was learning to relax around him and Seth and wasn't always so on display when it was only them around, " All this black kinda gets to me..." she said then as if she knew her smile just wouldn't cut it, but she shrugged, "Are you okay?"

Lani came into the Great Hall a little distracted, and she might not have even seen all of the black were it not for the silence that met her.
She stopped in her tracks, looking up. Everyone was so somber, and she understood what the black meant. But who were they mourning? A faculty member, perhaps? Glancing at the staff table, she noticed a few teachers who were missing.
She joined the Slytherin table, somewhat near Rystain, but he was busy with Sam and she wanted to stay out of that. "What's going on, Ryan?"

Ryan had been one of the first Slytherins to arrive to dinner that night, his growling stomach making him not waste time to get there.
He shrugged at Lani. "I'm not sure. No one's saying anything... it's just... a bad omen, if you believe in that sort of thing."
Nothing about tonight felt right, and he didn't like it.

It was heartbreaking, what had happened, and Juliette did not envy Dumbledore's position at all, having to tell of these students that one of their friends was gone, forever now.
Unconsciously, her eyes scanned the staff table for Daniel, a friendly face, but she didn't see him yet.
She had never met the girl, but she still felt the mourning and the sorrow as she took her seat at the table, watching the students she was just getting to know.

Rystain wasn't that busy with Sam other than just having concern for a friend and he noticed when Lani sat away from him and he frowned but he didn't say anything. If she didn't want to sit with him he wasn't going to make her. He wondered if she was trying to give him his space with Sam but at the moment from his perspective the whole reason he was moody today was because Lani had been disturbingly on his mind and he never let girls stay on his mind like that.

Rabastan came in shortly after Lani, though he sat on the far side of the table from her. He quirked an eyebrow at the drab get up, and wondered if Bella had anything to do with this.
And if she did... why hadn't he been invited?
Still, he put up a pretense of concern for whoever might be watching.

Daniel walked in using the same side door Professor McGonagall had used which led him right to the Staff table. He looked up and around the room, seeing some somber, and some confused faces on the students. As he scanned the hall, Daniel's eye caught Juliette's. He smiled at her and waved, hoping she would join him.
Most of the teachers had been informed, or had at least heard of what happened. It made Daniel feel aweful. Who would do such a thing to a child? It wasn't fair.

Augustus thought it was rather irritating that he was expected to show tonight... and all that was on his mind was the intern that was the cause of this. She had been careless, to let three people see her... and two of them see the death of the third.
He wondered briefly if she would show tonight... and if she did, he would have a word with her.

"I suppose," Leilani replied softly, her eyes going around the room as she tried to figure out what had happened. There were students whispering here and there, but the hall was still eerily silent.
As her eyes swept the tables, and came back to her own, she glanced at Rystain, hoping to catch his eyes.

"Bek," Seth said. "You haven't heard from Max or Gage today, have you?" Bek would know, Bek knew everything, well, besides Gage. But Seth knew that if Bek said eveything would be alright, then everything would indeed be alright. Bek looked up at Seth and could read the panic behind his eyes. He was looking for Maxi and Gage. Sadly though, she hadn't seen them all day. "I'm sorry Nopho," Bek said, using her nickname for Seth. She knew he was expecting a better answer, but right now, she was clueless. "I haven't seen either of them all day."

Rayne was worried. The entire Gryffindor common room was worse than the Great Hall was... and only because they had some inkling of what was wrong... very few of them knew exactly what happened, and it would be a long, sorrowful night after it was explained to them.
She spotted Nate immidiately and joined him at the table. "Hey," she whispered. "You haven't heard anything, have you?"

Adele was halted in the doorway the second she entered the Great Hall, and she felt like she couldn't breathe.
What had happened? It was obvious with one look around that something terrible had happened, and her mind assumed the worst, and was, in this case, right.
Who had died?
Chills went up her spine as the question repeated itself in her head.

Seth frowned. He had hoped Bek had known something, anything really. But she hadn't. "Oh, alright then..." He said, and he walked back toward the Slytherin table, sitting on the other side of Sam. He drummed his fingers on the table nervously, glancing every few seconds back to the doorway, looking for Maxi and Gage to arrive.

When he didn't answer he she wondered if he really wasn't doing well until she saw where his eyes strayed, dear Godric...not him too. Well that might hurt Lyra, but either way all she needed was another friend lost due to jealousies. She was starting to see why she used to keep her distance aside from everything else, losing friends hurt.

Julie breathed a sigh of slight relief at the sight of him, and stood from her chair to join him.
"Hi, Daniel," she said softly, for once not having to yell over the students. She wanted to ask how he was doing, but what kind of a question was that, really? She reached out anyway, her hand gripping his forearm. "It's terrible, isn't it?"

Gwen's fears lay with her brothers. As any older sister would, she needed to know that they were okay before she was willing to admit that anything was wrong at all. So far, she didn't see either of them, and that worried her. They were boys... weren't they supposed to be always hungry and eager to get her?
But Thane, at least, was probably looking for his wand or something. She kept calm, watching the door for them from the Gryffindor table.
