A Sad State of Affairs (ALL STUDENTS, STAFF)

[Sin Savira]

Sin strode into the halls and imediately stopped and looked around. This was NOT normal. Where were all the colors in the room? Why did the sky look as if it was about to start pouring any moment in the room's ceiling? This couldnt' be good and there was very little to no talking going on in the room and he moved to a very slow pace as he walked over and sat near the group of older Gryffindor's he saw Alice sandwiched between her two friends which was really strange considering how Alice and Frank had been avoiding each other lately and that imediately put him on his gaurd, especially since they were looking so somber and sad.

[Rori Logan]

Rori was going to meet Leo in the Great Hall for dinner, as usual. She walked from the common room and to the Great Hall, however, the atmosphere as she entered the room hit her. It was quiet. It seemed to be a little eerie because no one was talking.

She slowed her walk as she walked over to the Ravenclaw table. Naturally, Rori tried to be on her guard as she knew that bad news was going to be broken at dinner. She took a seat and glanced up to Dumbledore, to see if she could find any answers, but his face seemed solemn as well as just about everyone else's. She just glanced down at the table and waited patiently for the news to be said.

[Samantha Montgomery]

Samantha entered the hall though lately her stomach had been refusing to hold food down when she realized that there was a definite...theme one could say about the room, the black had her pausing in the door way and speculating whether to enter. She adored the color but it usuallly meant something was wrong, some somber occasion and she didn't know what.

[Eve Mallory]

Eve had a jaunty little skip in her step that ended abruptly as she entered the hall, Eve was afraid of the dark so the black and the dark clouds immediately put her on guard, she paused as well in the doorway but someone pushed behind her so she swallowed and kept moving with her head held down, she tried to search for the twins and when she found Lance she immediately went to his side, "What's going on...?" she asked in a small voice.

[Rebecca "Bek" Caldwell]

Bek walked into the hall and immediatly froze as she stepped inside. Everything was draped in black. It was dark and gloomy and some of the people she saw looked sad and upset. She spotted Sin out of the crowd, tapping his shoulder and taking a seat next to him. "Sin," she whispered. The place felt like you needed to whisper. "What's going on?"

[Genevieve Danforth]

Genevieve immediately noticed the dark and somber atmosphere in the room. It made her feel depressed instantly, like when the sun went behind a cloud. She hated black... it usually meant something bad. She walked over to the Hufflepuff table and sat down next to Lance and Eve. "Hey, what's going on? Why all the black? It's depressing."

Sin looked over at Bek and shrugged. "No idea, but it doesn't look like good news." he whispered back. He had not more answers than she did but he could feel the mood in the room.

Josh slipped in after just waking up from a much needed nap. He didn't realize what time it was until his stomach woke him up from growling so loud. Getting from his bed, Josh slid on his shoes and walked down with his hair completely astray. He noticed that the Great Hall was extremely quiet and he took a seat beside Eve. Josh rubbed his eyes and then noticed the black around them. He looked to Eve and gave her a questioning look.

"No, it doesn't look like good news at all..." Bek replied to Sin, looking around the room. "It's like we walked into a funeral or something..." As she said that, a shiver ran down Bek's spine.

[Rita Skeeter]

Rita Skeeter and her usual charming self glided right into the Great Hall, making notes of the mood and decor. Interesting, she thought. Her senses were twitching at the hint of a story that was obviously on the horizon with decorations like this. She went to her normal seat at the Slytherin and sat back to watch.

Nate came down to dinner like normal and slowed as he noticed the theme of the Great Hall. He immediately wen to to the the Gryffindor table but was afraid to say anything since it was so quiet and it looked like a few of the 7th years at his table had very sad expressions.

[Rystain Quandry]

Rystain had come from the Slytherin commons and was relatively hungry today. He noted the change in colors of the room and the uncanny silence before sitting down at his table. He saw a few slytherins already sitting but he didn't say anything. He was already in an odd mood tonight as it was and the black drapes in here didn't give him any indication that it was going to change his mood at all. For once Rystain was not smiling, instead he looked quite moody. Though he did wonder what was going on in here tonight.

[Seth Inophen]

Seth saw that the mood of the great hall was abnormal. It was dark and quiet and gloomy in the room. Seth was vaguely reminded of the mood he was in when going back home for the summer. Seth saw Rystain over by the Slytherin table and joined him. "Geez, who died?" Seth said, not entirely serious. But as the words left his mouth, a feeling sweeled in the pit of his gut.

Rystain looked at Seth, "you're guess is as good as mine..." he said quietly, frowning more. It did kind of look like a funeral now that he thought about it. His gut clenched and he wondered if someone had in fact died. That was a sobering thought.

The second he started to believe that someone had died, Seth panicked.He stood up and looked around the hall. Bek was at the Gryffindor table talking with some of her friends. He saw that a couple of them had been crying, which frightened Seth even more. "Ry, you haven't seen Maxi or Gage, have you?" They weren't there, and Seth was borderline-panicked.

[Rystain Quandry]

"um... No... not today why?.. oh... no I haven't but i'm sure they're fine. If it was one of them, I'm sure someone would have told you by now. It's not like it's any secret you guys are all close friends." He scanned the other tables now that he thought about it and noticed Alice first.. she seemed like she was behaving oddly. He also knew that she was fighting with Frank right and he could see her holding hands between her friend Marlene and Frank. That was odd. "By the looks of it, the only ones showing any sign of emotion besides yourself there is at the Gryffindor table from what I can see. And Bek is there so I'm sure you're friends are fine. Maybe it was someone's pet or something?"

[Caleb Renneau]

Caleb didn't like this anymore than anyone else but his first glance was for Samantha, he saw her simply standing at the doorway looking a little lost, he was incredibly relieved however. Being around Adele tended to put one's mind on death and he would die if something happened to his sister...then all of a sudden, "Adele..." he whispered, he didn't see her in the room and he had to tell his heart not to panic as he swallowed a large lump in the back of his throat before moving towards his sister. "Sam?"

He knew that her mother had just died and that even though they hadn't been close, this death stuff still probably got to her.

[Samantha Montgomery]

Sam shivered when Caleb sided next to her, she didn't even respond to him really until he shook her arm then she jolted, "Oh...Cale...I.." she muttered but then moved out of the door way.

"Did someone...why is it all black?" she wondered, not that she thought her brother knew but he was faculty...perhaps he did.

[Seth Inophen]

"I don't think Dumbledore would do all this for a pet Rystain," Seth said, though deep down he sincerely hoped his friend was right. "I'll be right back," He said. Seth walked over to the Gryffindor table, unnoticed. The Gryffindors had seen him there enough to know by now he wasn't one to cause trouble. "Bek," Seth said. "You haven't heard from Max or Gage today, have you?" Bek would know, Bek knew everything, well, besides Gage. But Seth knew that if Bek said eveything would be alright, then everything would indeed be alright.

[Minerva McGonagall]

Minerva McGonagall came into the Great Hall from one of the side rooms off behind the staff tables. She of course knew what was going on and her face was sympathetic but sad. She walked over to Dumbledore and had a quiet talk with him before sitting down in her chair at the staff table and watching the students. She knew how hard this was going to be for them.

The whole school would be in mourning for a fellow student. And she had a feeling her house would be hit the hardest. She let her eyes look over to the four students who also knew what was going on and they seemed to be holding up fairly well considering what they knew and their own role in protecting the school. They were as brave as Godric himself, and she was proud of them. But she still didn't like seeing them in danger, but then she didn't like seeing any of the students in danger and she knew that they were all in danger if one or more dark wizards were present in or around Hogwarts.
