Potions, Class 1

[Kris Lupin]

Kris walked into the potions classroom hoping she wasn't late, looking around she saw she wasn't as everyone was still talking. She ran a hand through her hair, she looked around again and saw Sirius and her brother. She sorta felt out of place and a tad annoyed there was a girl next to Sirius. She started to look around for somewhere to sit trying to ignore the feeling of annoyance.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius spotted Kris walking in and waved to her. "Hey, Kris, over here!" he said, pointing to an empty seat to the right of him.

[James Potter]

"Oh yeah, I remember that! Oh that was bad, it made me itch all over, but it was pretty funny when walked to Madam Pomfrey. However, maybe slipping that for someone wouldn't be so bad. I think I still have that potion written down somewhere in my trunk," said James. He laughed at Sirius' shampoo comment. "Poor Snivellus probably doesn't even know what that is."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris saw Sirius waving him over, still a bit annoyed she walked over to Sirius and sat in the chair next to him. She would have rather not have that girl be there but she wouldn't say anything. She glanced at her brother then got out her potions book ready for when the lesson would start.

[Sirius Black]

"Aww, Kris, what's the matter? Aren't you glad to see me?" Sirius asked, reaching over and lightly touching her cheek. "You know everyone here, right? That's Lily, and James, and of course you know Remus. And this," he said, motioning to the girl next to him, "is Robin. She's going to Hogsmeade with James." He grinned and leaned close, "Do you think I should talk her out of it?" he asked with a wink.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris glanced at the people as he mentioned their names, she hadn't really met Lily or James. A wave of relief washed over her when he said the girl next to him was going with James. She smiled a little happy that the girl wasn't there for Sirius.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius grinned. "There's that smile," he said. "So, hey, how're you doing? Did you get the letter I sent you? Sorry it was so short, I only had time to write one. And I didn't think Remus would want to read what I'd write to you." He laughed.

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah we got it." Kris said quietly she wanted to tell him about what happened last year but she didn't want him to leave her. She wouldn't risk him leaving her if she told him what she was, she still learning to accept it and if it was being hard on her to accept then she thought he wouldn't want to accept it.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius saw the change in her mood and frowned slightly. "Hey, don't worry. Nothing's changed, OK? I was thinking about you all summer. It was practically the only thing that got me through the summer, actually. I swear, you look up 'dark and dreary' in the dictionary, and there's a picture of my house. The only time I got out at all was to go to my great-grandma's funeral."

Kris smiled at his joke, she would have to try to be like she was before the attack. She looked at the potions book, then at Sirius, she wasn't sure what to say to him.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius frowned again. Something was bothering Kris, he was sure of it. She wasn't responding to his charms the way he expected after such a long absence. He wondered to himself if this was how James felt every single time he talked to Lily. "Hey, cheer up," he said in a soft voice. "We'll talk more later, OK?" He tucked his finger under her chin, lifting it up. "Come on, give me a smile."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris bit her lower lip then smiled a true smile, she didn't want to be sad and depressed around Sirius. She hated that she would have to lie to him about her transformations, she wanted to be truthful, but she wouldn't risk it. "I guess I'm just thinking about my mum..." She lied, she didn't quiet meet his eye when she spoke.

[Remus Lupin]

Remus watched the two of them talking. He wasn't sure how Kris was going to handle keeping her secret from him, and he was worried. She had been under a lot of stress lately, and he feared that the strain of keeping the secret from Sirius would be too much for her. Already she seemed upset, and it was obvious that Sirius had noticed. He hoped she would be OK.

[Sirius Black]

"Aww," Sirius said. He leaned in and gave her a quick kiss on her cheek. "It'll be OK," he said. "We'll talk after class. Why don't we meet by the lake and we can... get reacquainted..." He gave her a wink. "I actually got something for you. Well, I stole it from my mum, actually... but it was too nice for her to have."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris smiled and nodded. "Alright, I can't wait to see what it is." She wanted this day to go by until it was time to meet Sirius by the lake.

[Albus Dumbledore]

Finally, having finished his bowl filled with crystallized pineapple and recovered his dignity after his fall, Professor Slughorn slowly got to his feet and waddled over to stand in front of the class.

"Now then, students. Welcome back to Hogwarts, and to Potions class. Since you are all back at school after a long summer, I have decided that we will start by making Memory Draughts. Please turn to page 14 of your books and begin working on your potions. I will be walking around the room to check on your progress."

[James Potter]

James hid his grin as Slughorn announced they were going to make a memory draught. He leaned up to Sirius. "Do you think he'll use our potions for his own personal use," he said in a whisper. James leaned back in his chair, sneeking a glance over at Lily. He really did wish that it was her that he were taking to Hogsmeade instead of Robin, but he would deal. Robin seemed like a nice girl. A little flirting never hurt anybody. James realized that his sneeking glance turned out to be a stare for a few seconds. He opened his book to the correct page, getting what materials needed.

[Lily Evans]

Lily flipped through her book to find the correct page, then glanced up for a second, only to notice that James Potter was staring at her. What was with him, anyway? She was just about to comment, when he quickly looked away and turned back to his book. She stared at the back of his head, wondering just what it was about him that annoyed her so much.

[James Potter]

As soon as Lily looked up, he quickly turned away. As he gathered what he needed, he snuck another glance Lily's way, only to glance away quickly again. James shook his head. He had to stop. There was no sense in this. She didn't like him. Bottom Line. But James always liked a challenge, but that's not the only reason James fell for her. There was something about her. He couldn't put his finger on it. He tried his best to just move his mind away from the situation, and try his best not to look over at her for the rest of class.

[Lily Evans]

As Lily gathered up her ingredients, she noticed that James looked over his shoulder at her again. It was really starting to bug her. But forced it from her mind as she pulled her hair back from her face and tapped her wand to it, so that a string came out of the end and tied itself around her thick red hair.
