She laughed once, "Trust me, I don't think anyone thinks I can do what it is I'm doing...not even me really. I'm sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop, so far it's been going really well...there are a few snags but overall nothing life changing, the slow pace is nice for a change."

"Well, I have to beg to differ. I believe that you can do anything. Whatever you do I'm sure that you are doing it quite well even if it's not apparent just yet." Vaughn gave her a smile. He wasn't sure where those words came from, but he let them go anyway. "Just believe that you can do it too. I sure everything is going to turn out for the best." He studied her for a moment. "Going slow can usually be a good thing."

Nikita quirked a smile, "You're quite the engine aren't you?" she asked referencing the kid's book of the little engine that could, she shook her head, "It's good...nice having someone believe in you, even if you don't know them all that well." she smiled, "It's nice."

Vaughn laughed. "I only state the truth," he said. "And it is nice to have someone believe in you. I believe that you can do anything that you set your mind to do. It's all a matter of the 'doing' part." Vaughn found himself wanting to make this woman smile. It made him feel funny to say the least, but he was intrigued by her. Another woman hadn't ever intrigued him, nor had he wanted to make anyone else smile in a very long time.
"I have faith in you Nikita. I'm sure that you can become one of the best professors at the school if you trust in what you are doing."

She did feel oddly encouraged, and comforted so she did smile somewhat but she felt odd, no one had been on her side in a really long time.
"Well I don't know if that's all I want...well I d on't think I would mind it though." she confessed finally, no she really wouldn'tve minded settling down, being a teacher...getting married...having kids...

There was one point in Vaughn's life that he wouldn't have mind settling down and possibly having a few children, but that was blow all to hell when his first and only girl friend cheated on him. After that, Vaughn didn't want to settle down. He was going to be on his own for the rest of his life, yet he was sitting at a table with a beautiful woman. Vaughn wanted to kick himself for that thought. He couldn't get attached, but she was making that awfully hard and he was slowly slipping.
He was even surprised that the thought of settling down ever entered his mind again. Vaughn pushed it away. When Nikita smiled, it made Vaughn feel something strange. "I'm sure what ever you choose you'll do great. You seem like a woman that can adapt to her surroundings, and it seems like you're pretty comfortable where you are. I think it's amazing that you have the patience to teach."

Something was happening. Nikita didn't believe in love at first sight, or anything like that. She lived in a world with magic happening every day but didn't honestly believe in the magic of love, there was too much humanity in it, too much emotion. Still the stars be damned if they had an affect on her, if she had a connection to this guy who was saying these things, perhaps just trying to hit on her, and yet how she felt them to her very toes.
"Thank you."

"No need to thank me," said Vaughn. "I'm just telling the truth." He gave her a smile that showed off the dimple in his chin even more. Vaughn picked up his glass and took a drink from it. He was finding it harder and harder to keep his eyes off of her.
The waiter appeared with their orders and Vaughn thanked him before he disappeared. Once again, his eyes went back to her. "Did you always want to be a teacher?"

She shook her head no, after thanking the waiter as well and placed her napkin on her lap.
"Honestly I never really had an idea of what I was going to do after school was over, and then it simply was and I just went from place to place picking up odd jobs, until now...and yeah...everything just seemed to click."

"It's always good to go around and find what you like to do if you're unsure," he said. "Although I'm glad that you finally found something that is not too bad." Vaughn looked down at his plate and began to eat.
"Thank you for agreeing to come to dinner with me. It's probably been the best night I've had in a long time so far." He wasn't hitting on her, or at least he was trying not to.

She nodded, "And you?" she inquired, "What about the Ministry is it something you've always wanted to do? How did you get into that?" she found it strange that she could actually talk about the Ministry and not shiver.

"Ah, the Ministry. I knew that I wanted to do something in the Ministry. I was sure of that, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I didn't think that I would do a good job at being an auror or anything like that," he said. "So, for right now, they put me doing paperwork. I tell you, its a pain sometimes. It's file after file. I'm getting tired of looking at parchment, but I know that if I want to get somewhere, I have to just deal with it." Vaughn gave a slight shrug. He wasn't really lying in a way. At first he wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do, and he did know that he want to be apart of the Ministry.

"Do you enjoy it?" she asked, "What you do? Does it make you happy?" she began to eat her food smiling between bites. She was relaxed, and enjoying herself, strange because it usually didn't happen often when she could just sit with a guy and relax, and someone from the Ministry was the last person she expected that relaxation to come from.

"In a way, I do enjoy it. I get time to myself a lot so that's always a plus. I don't have to worry about people running to me with everything, unless it's more papers. Right now, I'm just organizing things and making sure that all the papers are in the correct file and are put away correctly."
Vaughn noticed that Nikita was relaxing, and that made him do the same. "Happy. Hm. I don't know if happy covers it. I took the job after Hogwarts, and after everything that happened. I guess it made me happy at first because I was alone and away from everybody. I'm not really used to working with people anymore. When I do, it's just awkward sometimes. The time I've spent with you is the most time I've spent with anyone other than myself in awhile."

Her brows rose slightly at that revelation, it was a surprise now that they had, had more time to form a second opinion of one another.
"That's surprising...well not by our first encounter I would say that was spot on...but "she smiled, "To let you in on a little secret, you're doing much better this time around than last." she nodded.

Vaughn laughed. "Yeah, the first time, that was a little rough. I'll admit that." It felt good to laugh, let alone smile because of something good and pleasurable company. "Well, let's just say that I decided that I was just going to wing it and see how things would go. I hoped that I wouldn't make a fool of myself, and I'm still hoping that." A smile was still on his face. "And I have to say that I'm a little more relaxed this time."

"Good" she answered simply then took a sip of her water before continuing her food. Her stomach felt fluttery different and she was honestly surprised by it, she hadn't been interested in a guy in a long time but this casual banter was nice, it was more than nice.

He flushed just a little and took a sip from his glass. Vaughn was loving every minute of this, although he wasn't really wanting to admit it to himself. There was just something about her that drew him in, but he hadn't figured it out yet.
"I'm glad to see that you're a bit relaxed as well. It's good to know that you're comfortable, or at least almost. I wouldn't want you to feel awkward or anything."

She shrugged one shoulder while tilting her head in that direction, "Don't have to worry much about that, I'm not the type for awkward conversation. Adaptable I guess you would call it. Still that doesn't mean that conversation's quite as enjoyable as it is now. I suppose it's only the company that I can own to that." she said casting a subtle compliment there before drinking a sip of water.

She found their conversation enjoyable? That made Vaughn's stomach do a summersalt. He was pleased that she found it enjoyable, after all he was just winging it. "The only way I believe I don't sound to much of an idiot is because of the company. So, in other words, thank you."
Vaughn gave her a slight nod and a smile before he started to eat again. He could get used to going out with her. He hoped that they could continue things like this. Going out for dinner and maybe going to a muggle picture show. That would be interesting. Hopefully he wouldn't mess this up.
