Clarissa woke up after only a very short time asleep and walked out to the living area. She saw her parents sitting on the couch and didn't want to bother them so she tried very quietly to sneak to the the little mini-kitchen they had to pilfer a drink of milk. She was thirsty, and had been successfully quiet until she saw what was likely some students escaped pet rat and a squeel escaped her as she jumped out of the way. She really didn't like rats. "PAPA!!!!"

He grinned at her. "I'm sure Adelaide will find other places in the castle to kiss boys than in her mother's library." He chuckled, his chest bouncing with each laugh, making Amadora bounce with him. He kissed her forehead lightly.
The sound of Clarissa's squeal startled him, and his head spun around toward her with worry. "Clarissa? What is it?" He hastily but gently moved Amadora from his lap and rushed to their daughter's side. The rat had scampered under a table and Carlisle did not see it. He was afraid she was hurt and he began checking her for some sign of injury.

Clarissa launched herself into her daddy's arms the moment he was within sight her lips quivered and tears had erupted, though out of startlement and shock rather than hurt. She'd managed to drop her glass in the process of her squeal and i the glass was shattered on the ground around her. "rrrrraaa...tttt....." she quivered out.

Amadora was gently but quickly set onto the chair and she immediately rushed after her husband. Not that she didn't think he couldn't handle anything and everything, but instinct kicked in enough to rush over to make sure Clarissa was okay. By the time she reached the two Clarissa had already launched into her husband's arms and was stuttering about a rat she thought. She immediately began the hunt for said rat.

Carlisle chuckled as he picked Clarissa up off the floor and wrapped her around his torso. "There, there," he said lovingly, stroking her hair to comfort her. "We'll take care of the rat. And you should be in bed." He stepped over the broken glass and got her another one, filled it with milk, and handed it to Clarissa. "Dora, darling, don't cut yourself on the glass."

"Of course dear, why don't you take her to bed and I'll clean up here. And see if I can't find the rat. I'm sure he's probably someones missing pet anyways." She smiled and pulled out her wand so that she could clean up the glass and spilled milk without too much fuss. And it was better to clean it up before she finished her rat hunt so she didn't manage to slip and fall into the glass in the process. She watched as her husband carried their daughter into the other room and finally began looking for the missing rat in case it was still there.

Clarissa clung to her dad still a bit shaken about the huge rat she'd seen. She held onto her milk carefully though so it didn't spill glad that he'd put it into a cup that wasn't glass this time. She snuggled into her daddy's arms comforted that he had saved her from the big vicious fanged evil rat with glowing red eyes. Well it wasn't really but in her mind it might as well have been. "I love you daddy" she blinked up at him with the most trusting big eyes like saucers.

He rested his chin on her head as she pulled herself close to him, and carried her back into her room. Again he moved through the maze of toys and books to where Clarissa's bed was. He pulled back the blanket and set his little girl on the mattress. "I love you too Clare Bear. And don't worry, mommy will make sure there are no more little visitors." He sat on the edge of her bed and brushed her hair behind her ear. "Do you want daddy to stay with you until you fall asleep?"

Clarissa nodded solemnly, her eyes still large and trusting as she scooted her legs under the blanket. "Will you read me a story, Daddy? One without rats?" She hated rats, really really hated rats. She sniffled once and looked around for her stuffed animal that had been lost at some point in the evening, and that was when panic set in. She couldn't find her stuffed animal...

He new that panicked look when it struck her face. Clarissa was looking for one of her toys, or maybe a book. She liked to have something to cuddle with when she slept, like her mother. "Did we lose something Clare Bear?"

Clarissa's lip quivered as she nodded, "Woofie." She named her stuffed wolf that was ratty and well loved, although there were several of her stuffed animals that were all named and well loved. She seemed to change her mind every few days on which one would satisfy keeping the monsters away at night, or in this case the rat.

Carlisle never used magic to clean his girls' room. He thought it much more responsible if the girls cleaned it themselves. And usually when they lost something in the mess he'd have them look instead of just summoning it for them. But Clarissa had had a hard night already, with seeing the rat and breaking the glass. So he pulled his wand from his wand pocket and directed it to the largest part of the room. "Accio Woofie." It wasn't the first time he had summoned something with a ridiculous name, so he didn't think anything of it. And from the pile of mess on the floor a little stuffed wolf rose up and zoomed into his hands. "Here baby girl." He gave her the toy and pulled the blankets up under her chin. Then he stood and moved to her bookshelf, plucked a well used book from the large assortment, and moved back to Clarissa's side. He flipped open the front cover, ran his finger down the index finding the story for tonight. He turned to the correct page and began reading. "Once upon a time in a land far far away, there lived a princess who was trapped in a tower by a dark wizard."

Clarissa hugged her woofie tightly and seemed almost instantly comforted by it's presence in her arms. When her daddy began reading to her in his soothing voice she smiled and curled into her pillow listening. Daddy would protect her and keep her safe, she thought to herself as she listened to the story. It was about halfway through the story that her eyes finally closed, and a few minutes later her breath evened out in sleep.

He read aloud even after she had fallen asleep, in case she woke within a few minutes. But when he heard soft little snores he smiled and closed the book, replacing it on the shelf on his way out. "Find anything?" he asked his wife once the bedroom door was shut. The mess had already been cleaned up, that was a good sign.

Amadora had her wand out and it was pointed to the rat dangling in the empty air nearby by it's tail. "I believe we have found the culprit. Do we have something we can put it in until we can find out who it belongs to?" I really don't care for rats myself and would prefer it not be in our quarters for Clarissa to find when she wakes up." Amadora looked tired though, it had been a long day and she really just wanted to get rid of the rat and go back to her snuggling with her husband. She'd missed him and wanted to just have his arms around her again.

Carlisle grabbed a box, poked a few holes in the top, and scooped the rat into it. He bound it with spellotape so that the creature couldn't escape during the night and bother either of his girls. He set the box on the table and then moved to meet his wife, whom he wrapped his arms around. "My love." Carlisle kissed the tip of Amadora's nose. "This professor's life is too eventful," he joked. "One day I'll take you away from all of this. We'll live in a castle and have servant at our beckon call."

"I don't mind living like this, dear. I know you love to teach. And we are able to be close to the girls this way. But I know what you mean. Although I don't want a servent at our beck and call.. well maybe a house elf but... I just want to be anywhere that I can be in your arms, love." She never complained about his busy schedule teaching, she loved him and she understood the demands required of a Professor. But that didnt mean she didn't enjoy their private time together more. She always looked forward to it and knowing that she'd see him at the end of each day gave her something to think about while she worked in the quiet library.

"You're too good for me." He kissed her nose again before sweeping one hand behind her legs and lifting her up in a cradle hold. She seemed like a feather in his arms, his love blinding him to any effort it took to carry her to their bedroom and over to the bed. He was dead tired but needed to hold her nevertheless.

Amadora laid her head on his shoulder as he carried her to their bedroom. She had wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his shoulder softly through his shirt. "Nothing is too good for you, my love. You deserve the best I have to give you, always." As the came to the bed she smiled into his eyes. She knew he must be tired after such a long day, but she had missed him and was just enjoying being in his arms.

Carlisle laid beside his beautiful wife and traced circles on the skin of her arm. Just staring at her. Smelling her hair. Taking her all in. He cared so much about her and wanted to give her everything he could. He felt it was his destiny to make this woman as happy as humanly possible. "Let's have another baby," he whispered to her.
