He couldn't fight the smile that started on his face. It showed the dimple in his chin more. Nikita couldn't be even more right. He was a bit rusty. Although, he felt his cheeks warm as she said that he was cute. He hadn't actually asked anyone out on a date in several years, so of course he wasn't going to know what to say!
Her deal was fair enough. He got it out once and this time he could spit it out better. Clearing his throat, he looked at her. "I was wondering if you would like to go out to dinner with me sometime soon, maybe early this coming week?" This time, Vaughn said it with a bit more confidence and did his best to hid any awkwardness that he felt.

He was harmless, she deduced then. Really if he was nervous to ask her out, what sort of threat could he pose to her? Even if he was from the ministry, he wasn't with defense, or their crime unit for tracking her down. She wasn't even sure if they were tracking her yet. He seemed somewhat shy as well, he had to be harmless, and going on a single date with him would be harmless as well. "Sometime this upcoming week sounds rather perfect." she returned.
She didn't really know what she was getting into. Truth be told, she knew even a small relationship would be problematic right now. So why was she going? Why? Because he was a good kisser, and sometimes, for a female, that was all that was required.

Vaughn discreetly let out a sigh of relief. He hadn't made a fool out of himself yet, and she agreed to a date. Oh gosh. A date. What was he going to say? Where was he going to take her? He truly was rusty. Maybe he could ask around his office, or better yet he could just wing it. That might end up better. That was what he did tonight.
"Do you have any preferences when it comes to food? There's the Hot Panini and the Le Repas Cher."

Hot panini or Repas Cher, he did have an expanse in mind. One was casual, chic, the other romantic and seductive. What really did he have in mind for her, and wasn't Cher expensive? She rolled her eyes inwardly, oh yes, perfect Nikita, snag a rich guy and you can't even have him.
Not that it was about the money, no not at all, but security was a nice thing for a woman who had been in and out of homes since she was six. Money was beautiful security, and she hated that she coveted it, still she wasn't above working, she did prefer to earn her own money.
" I have no preference." she told him, she smiled.

A smile crept upon his face. "Great. I'll send you an owl possibly tomorrow." Vaughn would have to decide what a good night for him would be. As long as he didn't have paper work, or pour himself over Nikita's file once again, then he should be free for any night next week.
"Also, when is a good night for you? I don't want to decide on a night that I'm free and you're not. Although, I should be free every night as long as they don't want me to stay late and continue to work on paperwork."

He was certainly making himself available, well at least he was eager. Eager for what?, she wondered and tilted her head, " The school's having house contests...I may be somewhat occupied chaperoning events."
She wondered then looking at him, there was a ball coming up, and oh she was too old and too silly to sincerely considering taking a date to the event, she was a chaperone after all. She was twenty two and she felt fifty and hesitation came to her, she'd make her decision after their "date"
"But the evening's I should be free."

"Oh yes. I remember hearing something about the school having a tournament. Several ministry people are against that happening, but of course that would be natural." He was rambling, and now would be a good time for him to just stop.
"Great. I'll just try to figure out what evening will be best. And let you know tomorrow." Vaughn gave her a smile. "I'll see you soon. Take care." What the hell was that? Take care? Did people say that? Vaughn wasn't sure, but whatever. He was going to see her again, and maybe he wasn't going to make a fool of himself, hopefully.

"Take care." she said softly standing just outside the castle. It felt odd, no one had walked her home in a long time, she hadn't always had a home to be walked to, but different was kind of nice. She'd see him again soon and see how things went from there.
What was that bubbling in her chest? She tried to tamp it down but it was there all the same. Hope. She could start over here, live life as a teacher, date a normal guy, no one would ever have to know about her past.
