When Dumbledore announced that the Hufflepuff champion would be announced next, Maxi's head snapped up. "Please pick me!" She whispered excitedly. The Globlet then spit a name into the air and Dumbledore announced the name on the paper....

The goblet flared up again in a rush of bright blue flames. The flames shot straight up in the air, making a blinding light that filled the room for several seconds. When the light had faded, a single piece of paper was fluttering through the air.

Dumbledore snatched the paper out of the air, and, rubbing his eyes from the bright light that had finally faded, looked down at it. After a long pause during which he had to adjust his half-moon spectacles, he finally shouted,
"Maxi Borale!"

Maxi jumpped up in excitement. Her name had been called! She's the Hufflepuff champion! She smiled and walked over to professor Dumbledore, hearing Seth yelling over everyone else.

As Maxi approached the stage, Dumbledore took her hand and held it up in the air in a triumphant manner. "Students, your Hufflepuff champion!" he announced, waiting for the applause.

Genevieve was happy for Maxi, who was just a little younger than she was. She clapped loudly and called out Maxi's name excitedly. For all her joking about Lockhart, she really didn't want him to be the Hufflepuff champion. As far as she was concerned, the goblet had made the right choice, since neither Lance not Josh had put their names in. She didn't know that Eve had done so, or she might have been a little more disappointed.

Robin couldn't have been more relieved when Maxi's name was called. Anyone but Lockhart was perfectly fine with her. And she liked Maxi a lot. So she clapped loudly and smiled. Maybe Hufflepuff would actually have a chance.

Gilderoy was breathless as Dumbledore announced the Hufflepuff champion, and even started to stand up. But when the name announced was not his, he slumped back in his chair. How could he not be chosen? Obviously someone had confunded the cup or maybe even removed his name out of jealousy. Yes, that was it... the goblet had been tampered with. He would have to discuss this with Professor Dumbledore later.

Lance clapped and cheered for Maxi when her name was called almost as loudly as his brother, Josh did... they were both unanimously happy that Gilderoy had NOT been chosen.

Dumbledore waited for the applause to die down. The Hufflepuff table, though a small bunch, was understandably excited and it took them a fairly long time to calm down. Once it had fallen silent again, Dumbledore led Maxi to the door to the back room. "Just go in there and wait with Alice," he whispered. He hoped he had given Alice enough time to help Andromeda calm down.

Eve tried her best not to look disappointed, but she was, if only just a little, there was that and then immense relief that all that pressure hadn't been on her, she looked at Josh and then Lance and then back at her food clapping daintily.

Sam clapped tentatively and smiled up at Seth, oh dear, now that was two champions who hated her, she felt like she was back at Beauxbatons already. Luckily she hadn't been around long enough to make an enemy at Ravenclaw, or perhaps she had she just didn't know it yet.

Andi slipped out of the antechamber, looking considerably worse than when she had left. Her face was blotchy, with her eyes swollen and red, and anyone looking at her could tell that she had been crying. She didn't even really care anymore if anyone was looking at her or speculating about her. She just wanted to get this thing over with. Two champions down, two to go. It couldn't be much longer now. And then she could go out and drink her pain away.

Dumbledore cleared his throat again. "Congratulations again to our Hufflepuff champion. And now our choir will sing the Hufflepuff fight song..."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he heard a loud echoing of boos and groans and impatient sighs. A few students looked genuinely disgusted.
"Oh, OK, I suppose we can dispense with the singing," he said, sounding disappointed. Then... shall we announce the Ravenclaw champion next?"

Saving her house for last was tortuous, but Sam appeared confident, besides it was good to know who her competition was. She waited patiently although to keep the appearance of calm she was pinching herself under the table while seemingly watching completely objectively.
Ravenclaw and then finally Slytherin...finally she would ahve her chance.

Amadora looked over at the Ravenclaw students, she couldn't help but be partial to her former house but not because of that but because she spend more time knowing most of them due to them being in the library most often. Besides her oldest daughter was sitting at the table too and she was proud she'd been sorted into Ravenclaw this year. The fact that her husband was the Ravenclaw Head of House might have also had something to do with her pride for her former house as well.
Amadora squeezed Carlisle's hand with anticipation to hear who would be called, they had so many bright students in Ravenclaw and she knew that any of them picked would have been an honor to have as house champion.

Nate had clapped for the Hufflepuff girl as she was announced and waited to see who would be called for the Ravenclaw house. But he was mildly distracted sitting next to Rayne, he had noticed the smell of her hair like ripe apples and it was befuddling his senses at the moment even though he continued to look at Dumbledore. He really needed to ... to what? he thought half sarcastically to himself.. ask her out on a date? she'd likely just say no and then he'd look like a fool. Besides they were just friends and he was sure that's all Rayne felt and he ruefully admitted to himself that lately he'd been thinking of her as more than that. Not that he'd tell her... nope no way was he going to... "you're hair smells like apples.." he said softly so only she could hear. Oh Merlin had he just said that? He really needed to keep his trap shut.

Minerva clapped when the Hufflepuff champion was selected and had smiled reasuringly at the girl as she went to the antechamber. Now she looked over at the Ravenclaw table expectantly. She knew that the Goblet of Fire would choose someone who was a worthy opponent, regardless of how popular they might be. It was skill, corage, wit and a little someting extra that it searched out in the names placed within and would only spit out a champion that was worthy of the tasks.
But that didnt' make McGonagall any less concerned for the students who were chosen.

Hallie felt the butterflies in her stomach going wild when Dumbledore announced that the Ravenclaw champion would be announced next. Her palms began to sweat, causing her to drop her fork on the floor with a loud clang. Great. Just great, she was already being clumsy. The Goblet would never pick her. She glanced at Regina, and wondered if she had put her name into the goblet.
