Danny sighed. "Oh, all right. I won't try and get any free drinks from guys tonight. It'll just be me and you."
She did remember the last time he had tried to hit on a girl. Secretly, she was glad it hadn't worked out. The girl was pretty, but she knew it and was a complete snob. Ross deserved someone so much better.
She smiled to show that her sigh had been a joke. "I've missed this, you know," she told him. "Sometimes, I think you're the only one who grounds me. Come on, let's get out of here."

Ross gave her a wink as he took her arm. "Plus, I owe you a drink or two, considering you bought my ice cream! I can't let that go by without returning the favor some how or another!"
He led her out of the building and towards their apartment building. "I shall stop back by your door around an hour and half after we get there. Of course that will give me plenty of time to become beautiful!" Ross let out a laugh. "And that will give you plenty of time to pick out something. Nothing too revealing if you don't mind. Not that you are not beautiful and should flant it, but I don't want to have to fight any guys off of you tonight." Plus, Ross didn't want to get to distracted by her. As of late, Danny had been distracting in his eyes, but then again it may just be him.

She put her hands on her hips and pursed her lips. He was acting too much like a father at that point, and she rolled her eyes at him.
"It might just be easier if you came over and picked out what you wanted me to wear," she teased, and then put her arm back in his. She nodded, though. "I already promised you that tonight would be just for me and you, didn't I?"
She hadn't been on a real date in a while, though, and it might be nice to get a little attention. Not that the overprotective, teasing attention from Ross wasn't nice, but it wasn't exactly what she was looking for, either.

Ross gave her a raised eyebrow. "I was just kidding. I don't care what you wear," he said. "It's not that I want you to look like one of those nuns. I'm not sure how that look would do on you." He gave her a grin and entered the apartment building.
He didn't really care what she wore, except for she distracted him. In fact, she distracted him in just about anything. Ross didn't understand why the sudden change in the way he sort of looked at her. "Anyway, wear whatever I don't care. I'm going to go ahead and start cutting my hair so I can take a shower and become clean! And then, I'm going to wear whatever I'm going to wear."

Danny smiled and squeezed his arm before she let him go. "I'll go slowly so I'm not kept waiting," she teased, pulling her key from her pocket when they came to her apartment.
She leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek, something she always did. "Yes... it's official. I like the facial hair," she announced, and she knew, simply by saying so, he would ndulge her for a couple of days at least and keep it.
"See you in an hour or so?"

It didn't matter how many times Danny had kissed him on the cheek, this time his face turned slightly hot. Ross let out a laugh. "Good. I'm glad you like it." He gave her a playful smile. "And if you get done before I do, you have a key so just let yourself in. You know I don't mind."
He unhooked their arms and started towards his door, which was right next door. "In an hour. I'll try and hurry. I'm thinking about doing what muggles call a buzz cut. We'll just see what it looks like. I'll see you in a bit Danny." He stuck the key in the knob and turned it, allowing himself into his apartment.

"I'll take my time, don't worry," she said, smiling brightly at him. She watched him go into his apartment before she closed the door to her own. She was still in her uniform from work. Though her hair was down, it had that crease in it from being up for most of the day, so yes, a shower was definitely in order.
She looked through her closet, sighing at the sight of all those robes, and finally decided that she would make Ross take her to a muggle club. For one, she liked muggle clothes so much better to dance in, and two, Ross looked undeniably good in a pair of jeans. Even as his friend, she could still admire him.
Sending him a quick, charmed note that would attach itself to his mirror until he got out of the shower, she made sure to tell him as such so he wouldn't waste the time dressing in robes. They both knew of a couple muggle clubs that were frequented by wizards anyway.
She quickly showered, and the dried her hair by magic, letting it hang in loose, bouncing curls that gave her features definite feminimity. She wore a tight pair of jeans, and a shirt that was, by most standards, fairly modest. Lastly, she applied her make up. It made her eyes pop, mostly because she rarely ever wore it.
Stepping into her living room, she didn't see Ross, so she assumed he was still getting ready, and she locked her apartment up, letting herself into his.

Ross sighed as he entered his apartment. He went directly to his bathroom and shrugged out out of his shirt and pants. Standing in front of his mirror, Ross started on his hair. He trimmed it up a little bit, but didn't like it, so he shaved it. However, he didn't shave it all off. He just gave himself a buzz cut. His head felt lighter and he actually liked his hair that short.
Finishing stripping, Ross jumped in the shower. While he was in there, his thoughts drifted off to Danny. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't bother to think about it. As he got out, he wrapped his towel around his waist. Noticing the note on his mirror, he smiled. He was planning on going to a muggle club anyway. As he walked out of his bathroom, he heard the door opening and knew that Danny let herself in.
"I'll be there in just a second," he called from his bedroom. Ross quickly looked in his closet and picked out a pair of jeans and a brown colored shirt. Tossing on his clothes, Ross searched for his shoes as he nearly fell over trying to put on his jeans. Slipping on his shoes, he stepped out of his bedroom and into his living room.
The sight of Danny made his jaw want to drop, but he kept it closed. She looked amazing, as usual. "Alright. I'm ready. I didn't take too long to get ready." He gave her his goofy grin and extended his arm to her. "Shall we m'lady?"

"Not too long," she agreed, then gave a slow, coy smile. "But still longer than me. Which I suppose makes me the man in this relationship."
With her free arm, the one he wasn't looped around, she reached out and touched the extremely short hair on his head. She had seen the style before, but she wasn't sure she liked it on her Ross. He looked good, though, she realized, and thought maybe she'd just have to get used to it. "It's different," she told him, and nodded. "But it suits you."

Ross laughed as she ran her hand over his hair. "Thank you. Plus, my head feels a little lighter, and of course I couldn't get rid of the sideburns. I had to keep those." He gave her a playful wink.
He walked her towards the club. "You look nice by the way," he complimented her. Ross led her on and opened the door for her and the music carried out the door once it was open. "Let the night begin!"

She said thank you, but was decidedly quiet after his compliment. All of his compliments to her were after thoughts. "By the way's" and "Oh, yeah's." She sighed, and put on a smile as they entered the club.
She took his hand, pulling him inside quicker. "I hope you're ready for a long night!" She told him over the music. "Do you want a drink?" She nodded towards the bar, figuring that was a good way to unwind and get the night started.

Ross was practically dragged in by Danny and he laughed. Someone seemed eager to get into the club. "Of course I'm ready for a long night! Our nights out together are never short!" The music was blaring from the speakers and pounding in his ears. "Of course I want a drink," he said. "That's the best way to start the night!"
He grinned and led her towards the bar. "What do you want to drink?"

"Vodka and cranberry," she said. She had to be close to his ear for him to even hear her, so she put an arm over one shoulder and draped herself into him a little. "I'll buy the next round."
She waited patiently for him to get the bartender's attention (who was a very pretty girl, Danny thought) and looked around the club, getting a feel for who was there.

Ross leaned up against the bar as Danny leaned onto him. He waved to the bartender. He happened to notice that she was pretty, very pretty. As she looked at him and smiled, Ross tried to say something, but nothing came out. She probably got that all the time, but Ross was horrible. He had to do better than that.
"What would you like?" Her voice was smooth. Ross snapped out of it. "Two Vodka and Cranberries," Ross shouted over the music. The girl simply nodded and made the drinks quickly. He gave her the money for the drinks and handed Danny hers when they were ready.
"Here you go," he said to Danny. He smiled at her and then turned up his drink.

"Thanks," she said, taking the drink from him and finally tearing her eyes away from the crowd. And Merlin, it was crowded tonight.
She glanced at the bartender, who had moved on, and shook her head. "You're absolutely terrible, Ross. That was such a perfect oppertunity."
Ross was a very good looking guy. He was sweet, gentlemanly, funny... everything any girl looked for. And he was shy to a fault. She supposed the fact that he was buying two drinks had not helped, but he still should have been able to make a pass.
"I'm not going to get married until you do, Ross, and at this rate I'm going to be an 80 year old woman alone with my cats."

Ross raised an eyebrow. "What am I supposed to do, ask the bartender out? I bet she'd hex me for trying to be funny or something!" He turned up glass. "Besides my mum always said never date a bartender." Ross shrugged and then started laughing.
"Apparently I'll be 80 years old and either living with you and your cats because I can't pay my rent, or I'll still be living next door. Maybe you and I should get married. Then that would solve that problem." Ross was kidding, and he knew that Danny knew that as well, however the thought of marrying her wouldn't be so bad. He pushed that out of his mind. Why in the world had that popped into his head.
"In order for you to get married, I'm going to try and get over my stuttering around girls. For you, I'll try. Deal?"

Danny rolled her eyes again. "You don't have to ask her out, but you can flirt with her a little bit. I'm sure she's used to it."
She hit his shoulder for saying his mother said not to date bartenders. He knew well enough that it was a path she had considered for a while. In fact, she had bartended her way through Mediwitch school. "Very funny, Anderson," she teased.
She turned to give him a contemplative look before she nodded. "All right, if you're not married by the time you're 30, I obviously won't be either. Marry me. I'm serious." It was Ross. He was a great guy... she wouldn't mind marrying her best friend.
"There. Now you *have* to try to get better so you won't end up with me."

"See, that would be the problem. She's used to men flirting with her. I don't want to be a part of the crowd that flirts with her all the time. I have to be different. You know that." Ross figured that if he was going to flirt with someone, he didn't want to do like all the other men did and flirt with the women popular with them. He wanted something different.
Ross grinned. "I know, thank you, thank you very much Thomas. Although, the exception to the bartending was you. Mother always said that you would be the exception." He gave a little shrug.
He held out his hand to shake on it. "You have yourself a deal Danny. I'm sure that my mother would be happy about that. And actually it wouldn't be so bad if I did end up with you. You already know my quirks and are not freaked out by them." Ross gave her a wink playfully. "But I'll try to meet some others."

Danny rolled her eyes. "Right. So staring at her blankly is the way to her heart." She nodded, teasing Ross. "I see. I don't know why she isn't bowing at your feet already."
She smiled back, leaning into him as she took a sip of her drink. "I always loved your mum," she announced, still loudly to be heard over the music.
"Imagine if we did get married," she had a thoughtful, far away look in her eyes. "We'd be fighting for th bathroom all of the time. No one would ever have enough time to get ready for anything."

"And my mum loves you," he replied. "You should go see her one day. I'm sure you two will have a great time together. Plus, I think the sheep miss you too." Ross laughed. He grew up on a sheep farm because his father was muggle-born, but of course, Ross didn't mind.
He leaned into her as well, and observed the people around. The thought of marrying Danny didn't seem like one of those too far out there thoughts. However, at her comment, Ross laughed again. "Well, we could always put in another sink. And when it comes to showering, well, that's up to you," he said with a hint of teasing in his voice.
