After a whole day of spending the day in her apartment with Ted, it was finally time to return to reality. It was Monday, and they both had to go back to work. After Ted had gone home to get ready for work, Andi sent an owl to Molly, asking her to meet her at Madam Puddifoot's for a little coffee and girl talk. She only had one class today, and it was scheduled for the afternoon. Which left plenty of time to catch up with her best friend. And they had a lot to catch up on.
She dressed for work, in the simple black professor's robes, and pulled her hair back into a high ponytail. She didn't even bother to add any makeup. When she was done, she fed Agamemnon, and headed out to the tea shop to meet Molly.

Molly had met the invitation with raised eyebrows. "It's about time, Andi," she had muttered. She sighed... she needed to tell Andi what she felt about her being with Ted. Nothing good could come of it.
She was off work today, so she dressed in simple, casual robes and pulled her hair back. Andi would undoubtedly ask her about Arthur, she realized, and she sighed. She wanted her friend to be happy, and if that was with Ted... well, then, she'd be there for Andi when she had to face the consequences. Still, it didn't mean that she wouldn't warn her about it.
Grabbing the keys to her apartment, she was off, headed towards the tea shoppe.
Once inside, she looked around for her friend.

Andi had ordered a coffee and a muffin from the counter and was in the process of adding cream and sugar to her coffee when she heard the bell ring to indicate someone had just walked in. She caught a flash of red hair and smiled. It was so good to see her friend again! She couldn't wait to tell her all about Ted.
Setting down the creamer, she waved over at Molly. "Molly! I'm glad you could make it!" she said.

Molly caught sight of Andi and smiled, walking over. "You are in *so* much trouble, Andromeda Black," she teasingly chastised. "I never want to go so long without hearing from you again, do you understand?" Granted, it was a two way street, but she resolved to hold up her end of the bargain as well.
"I'm going to get some tea... find a table and I'll come join you, okay?"

Andi raised up her hands in a teasing gesture of surrender. "Guilty," she confessed. "I'm so sorry, Molly... I kept meaning to talk to you, but things just kept coming up. I promise I'll do better from now on... I've really missed you!"
She went back to stirring her coffee while Molly went up to get her tea. It seemed almost strange, but Andi felt lighter than air today... like there wasn't a thing in the world that could bother her. How she could be so happy after what had happened with her sisters, she couldn't imagine, but somehow she was. She could only assume it was because of Ted. Wonderful, sweet, perfect Ted. Just thinking of him was enough to make her grin like an idiot.

Molly was back a moment later, a cup of Earl Grey in her hands, which she added just a little cream to.
"All right," she said, making an exaggerated effort to roll her eyes. "I'm sorry, too. I suppose it's half my fault, anyway." She smiled then, gently and in a very motherly way. "How are you doing, Andi? I was working that night. I... saw."

Andi's smile faltered at this. It was as she'd feared... her sisters' all-too-public attack had probably been witnessed by a number of people. It would probably show up in a gossip column somewhere soon, if it hadn't already.
"I'm OK," she said truthfully. "I was pretty upset for a while... But thanks to Ted, I'm going to be fine." She smiled again, as she always did when she said his name. "He's really wonderful, Molly... I've never been happier."

Molly sighed. "Yeah, I figured as much," she said, moving to sit down. "I don't want to be the naysayer here, Andi, but how long do you think it's going to last? I mean, is he a boyfriend, or is he the one that you can't imagine spending your life without?"
She shook her head. "I'm really glad that you're happy, and I'm the first one to say screw the Black rules, but what happens when your parents find out, Andi?"

Andi shook her head. "He's more than just a boyfriend, Molly. He's the one. I swear, I've never felt like this before. You know how picky I am... I hardly even dated at school. I mean, except for the whole catastrophe with Rabastan Lestrange... which we won't speak of." She made a face at this. Her past mistake with Rabastan was not something she wanted to think about right now. She had realized soon enough that bad boys weren't her type.
"I know my parents aren't going to be pleased. I really don't care. The worst part was facing my sisters... Mum and Dad barely tolerated me anyway." She took a sip of her coffee

"No, we are going to talk about it," Molly said. "Because it's a really good point. There was a time when you were head over heels for Rabastan Lestrange. What if this guy is the same way?" She asked. "I'm really sorry, Andi, I just... this is dangerous stuff you're getting into. I don't want to see you get hurt, but part of me doesn't want to see him get hurt either. You know the dangers as well as I do for bloodtraitors and muggleborns."
She ran a hand through her hair. "If he's the one... and he feels the same way about you, then wonderful. I'll be the first person to give you congratulations and support. But I know what it feels like, starting out in a relationship... you don't think clearly, and there are a lot of things I think you need to consider."

Molly was right; there had been a time when Rabastan had been the cause for her smile. It hadn't lasted long--she and Ted had already been together longer than her "relationship" with Rabastan--but it had been intense. It shamed her to think of her own naivete back then.
"OK, yeah. He broke my heart," she confessed. "But even then I knew it was my own fault for falling for him. I knew he was never going to settle down. And it wasn't liek with Ted... I can open up my heart to him and tell him anything, and he still loves me, still thinks I'm beautiful. I could never be open and honest with Rabastan. It was always like I was playing a game... a game that he always wins."
At the mention of the risks, however, Andi sighed. "I know you're right. But it's not like we're not already involved in this fight. We're both aurors. We're not above taking risks. And what is worth the risk more than true love?"

Molly just bit her lip as she listened. She wished she had that kind of love with someone... did Andi realize how much she was giving up for this guy? "I really hope he's worth it, Andi," she said. "And if he is, then I am really, really happy for you."
She narrowed her eyes and put her hands flat on the table. "And how long have you not told me about this for?" she added before she laughed.

She breathed a sigh of relief. She knew Molly would understand. Of course she would. "He is worth it, Molly. I know he is. I feel deep inside... like I know we're meant to be together. I knew it the first time he looked at me. But the best part is... he really gets me, you know? He understands me... when I'm with him, I don't feel like such a freak. He makes me feel special."
Laughing at Molly's second comment, she replied, "I'm sorry, Molly, really. We've been going out for three months... although he was gone for one of those months. He only just got back in town. I really did mean to meet with you, but I was so busy with my training. But what about you? You must tell me all about your conversation with Arthur Weasley the other night!"

"It's all right, I forgive you," She said. "I've been hearing that with the change of Ministers, the Ministry has been pretty hectic lately."
She glanced up when the conversation turned on her, and she waved it away, shrugging slightly. "I don't know. It was a nice conversation." It was. She had really been able to engage with Arthur, and she thought he was sweet, if not a little dorky. But the dorky was kind of endearing as well.
"I haven't seen him again, so..." she trailed off.

Andi smiled. Her friend couldn't see the spot of color that appeared on her cheeks when she talked about Arthur. She was sure Ted would tell her that she was just imagining things, but she couldn't help it. Now that she knew what love was like, she wanted everyone to feel it too. Especially her best friend.
"But are you going to?" Andi pressed gently. "I hope you will... Arthur's really a great guy. And, forgive me for saying this, but... you two look really cute together!" She didn't add that she could almost imagine the two of them with a whole bunch of adorable red-haired children.

Molly wrinkled her nose and avoided asking the question by taking a long sip of tea.
She shrugged. "I don't know if I'm going to see him again," she said. "I..." She trailed off. If she admitted that she wouldn't mind seeing Arthur again, Andi would never let it go and she'd never hear the end of it.
"How well do you know Arthur?" She asked, looking up at Andi.

Andi gave her a knowing smile. She knew Molly well enough to know that her friend was holding back, trying to keep her from prying too much. But she could take a hint. She'd just have to get Ted to talk to Arthur about asking Molly out again. Or maybe she'd do it herself.
"I don't really know him that well. He's a bit shy, actually. At least around me. I think he finds me a little intimidating. Just because I'm not afraid to speak my mind..." Taking a sip of her tea, she thought for a minute. This was her chance to encourage Molly to go out with Arthur, without coming right out and saying it. "But he's a really good guy. Honorable, and braver than he seems. I just think he's the kind of guy you need to work at to find out what's beneath the surface, and when you do, you find there's a real gem there."
OK, maybe now she was overselling it.

Molly raised an eyebrow, knowing exactly what Andi was doing. She wondered why her friend was pushing so hard for Arthur. Sure, he was nice, but if Andi didn't know him that well, why was he different from any other guy?
She leaned forward. "Really?" She asked, as thoug she was totally buying it. "I mean... wow... if all of that is true..." She narrowed her eyes, only half playfully and leaned back in her seat again. "Why aren't *you* dating him?"

Andi burst out laughing. "OK, OK. Point taken. It's just that... well, now that I've found Mr. Right, I want everyone else I care about to feel what I feel. It's so incredible, Molly... I've really never felt this way before. I just want you to be happy like I am. And, OK, maybe Arthur's not the guy for you.... but what if he is? I don't want you to think it always has to be all stars and fireworks on the first meeting, and then just give up when it isn't like that. It's true... I fell for Ted pretty much at first sight, but gradually, as I get to know him... I just love him even more. Do you feel any attraction at all with Arthur?"

Molly leaned back and frowned, entirely too serious all of a sudden. She was usually single, though hardly ever by a conscious choice. She had tried to flirt and date and be sexy... she had tried all of it, honestly, and her personality just caused most guys to say she was adorable and then run off to find a leggy, shapely blonde.
Molly had some soul searching to do, and an identity to find. She often felt overshadowed by everyone, and she didn't like the way Andromeda was selling Arthur to her.
"Don't push, Andi," She said quietly.
