"Okay, Thanks Professor" Natalie Replied. She really liked this Herbology Teacher, Natalie hoped she liked her too. She headed towards one of the back seats, not sitting right next to a Slytherin Boy there. Natalie wasn't very fond of Slytherins but she wasn't going to tell the Slytherin Boy that.

Seth sauntered into Herbology. He nodded a greeting to the teacher and looked around for a place to sit. He saw Sirius Black and Remus Lupin in the front of the class talking, and in the back he saw another Slytherin who's name he couldnt remember and that girl he was pretty sure was named Natalie Speller. Then in the middle, drawing on the cover of his book as always, was his friend Gage, who Seth took a seat across from.
"Hey G.O." Seth said. "What'cha drawing?"

"Working on something i drew at the lake," Gage said, putting the drawing away and not saying that it was from when they had all been at the lake, since Seth would probably be embarrassed at the drawing of Seth and Maxi together.
"So you're taking Herbology? I bet you mother LOVES that," Gage knew Seths parents believed that Seth was academically higher than Herbology, but Gage knew that Seth was quite good at the subject.

Remus trudged out to the greenhouse, his shoes and socks getting drenched from the earlier rain. Why did it always have to rain before this class? Or maybe it just seemed like it. As he finally reached the greenhouse, he was in fairly bad mood. He saw that the teacher was a pretty young witch. She didn't seem like she could be much older than a seventh year student. As he looked around, he also noticed that Sirius was sitting in the front of the room, which was highly unusual for him. "Hey," he said, making his way over to his friend. "How come you're sitting in the front?" "Hey, Remus," Sirius said, looking up at his friend. He pointed toward Andromeda. "The professor is my cousin, Andromeda! She's the only other cool member of my family. So I thought I'd sit close, so I could support her. I'll introduce you guys after class. You'll like her, she's really cool. Not at all like my other cousins." He made a face, knowing Remus would know what he meant. "Where's James and Peter?"

James became delayed in his timing. Stupid Slytherins wanted to play around and James ended up hexing one because the Slytherin started it.
Realizing that he was late, James started to run towards Herbology. There was supposed to be a new professor, but he wasn't sure who it was going to be. It didn't seem like Hogwarts could keep professors for too long, but James didn't bother pondering on that subject.
James ran and tried his best to miss as many puddles as he could, while catching up with Peter. A grin set itself across his face as he heard Sirius. "Why we're right here! Worried were you?"

Peter heard James call his name behind him, so he slowed his walk down so that James could catch up. "Hey James," he said in greeting.
Walking into Herbology, Peter couldn't help but laugh at James' comment. Although, he didn't have a smart remark to add on to James', Peter followed him to a seat. His eyes set on the new professor. "So, who's the new professor?"

It was too easy.
She either looked at him and held his gaze a second longer than she should, or she refused to look at him at all... it was just too easy. He could have her again in a matter of days.
He leaned back slowly. He was watching her with an intense gaze, but keeping everything else about himself cool and relaxed and laid back, so she would have no real reason to feel like he had any malintent. He even hid the cocky smile he could feel itching at his lips.

Sirius grinned as James and Peter sat down next to them. "Hey, guys!" he said. "I thought maybe you guys got lost or something... or you were skipping class." He nodded toward Andromeda. "My cousin Andromeda is teaching!" he said excitedly. "She's my only cool relative... I think you'll like her. I'll introduce you guys after class, if you want."

Andromeda looked around the room and took a quick head count. There were a few students missing, but most of the students were present. It didn't seem fair to make the students who were on time wait for the rest. And since it was the first class, she wouldn't hold it against them if they were late. After all, the class was starting a few weeks into the term, and a lot of them probably weren't used to walking all the way out to the greenhouse.
She felt a little nervous flutter in her stomach, and she took a deep breath to try and steady herself. Come on, Andi, you can do this.
"OK, class, I think it's about time to begin," she said in a loud, clear voice. "First off, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Professor Black, and welcome to Herbology. For today's class, we are going to discuss mundane plants, which are normal plants, known to both the wizarding and muggle worlds, that have magical properties when used in potions. Can anyone name an example of a mundane plant?"

Regulus took his time getting to class. So what if he was late and there was a new professor? Regulus didn't care. Plus, there was no way in this world that he was going to go rushing off to class with it muddy outside. He was not going to get his clothes dirty. He refused.
Upon walking in, a smirk set across his face as he noticed Andromeda. Bella had come back, and now Andromeda? He had heard word of what happened the other night. It was quite a shame.
Regulus flashed Andromeda his grin. "Nice to see you again Andi," he called out before he started to walk over and take his place in class. Where was Andrea when he wanted her around?

So typical of her cousin Regulus to stroll into class late, and to make as much of a disruption as possible by interrupting the lesson. She could tell he was going to be a problem.
"So glad you could join us today, Regulus Black," she said, her tone light. "I should probably take 5 points from Slytherin for your lateness, but I won't... as long as you can name me an example of a mundane plant with magical properties."

Regulus looked at Andromeda like she was crazy. He thought about it for a moment. There was no way he was going to make his house lose points. A mundane plant with magical properties? What the heck? Regulus thought about different kinds of plants that he knew about, or thought he knew about.
"Er," he began. He couldn't lose those points. "Mandrakes." Regulus finished, still unsure if he answer was correct.

Andi shook her head. "No, I'm sorry, Regulus. That is incorrect. Mandrakes are unusual, in that there is a mundane form of the plant, and a magical one. The mundane versions do not move, and are not generally used in magic. But magical mandrakes are used in many potions including a restorative draught to heal cases of petrification. But maybe one of your fellow Slytherins can help you out, so you don't lose those points." She looked around the room a moment and pointed to the boy who had walked in the room just after Sirius. "How about you? Can you name an example of a mundane plant with magical uses? Something that seems ordinary but is useful in potions?"

Severus sighed and raised his hand and started talking anyway. "Several muggle plants have uses in potions, plants included are monkshood, foxglove, and several kinds of herbs." he put his hand down and rested his hand on his chin. She might be leaning toward the other houses, but he was right and no one else had been.

Andromeda smiled at the boy, who seemed to be a bit sour to her. Hopefully, she could warm him up a little. "Very good," she said. "Yes, monkshood and foxglove are two very good examples of mundane plants used in potions. Since you named two plants instead of one, I'll go ahead and give 5 points to Slytherin. What's your name?" She glanced down at her roster, preparing to make a note of the student's name.

Alice opened the door and looked quite like a drowned rat standing in the doorway. It had started raining only a few minutes before and she was not happy to have been caught in it, as if it wasn't muddy enough already! She had been in a rush to get to class in time and hadn't taken care to try to do anything but get there as quickly as she could. She loved herbology class and didn't want to be late but she'd been unable to avoid it much to her own self disgust. And now she stood there dripping from head to toe at the sudden downpour that had caught her mid-run across the grounds.
She looked up with an impish grin at the professor and grinned even wider when she saw it was her cousin Andromeda standing there with a roster in her hands and talking to a slytherin boy. "You're the new teacher?" She couldn't help but grin. "I'm so sorry I was late... I ... I got caught in the rain after I was stuck talking to the Headmaster." She trailed off without being too specific and prayed that she wouldn't have cost her house points with an honest self-admonishing look in her eyes.

Andi turned from the Slytherin boy, who had yet to provide his name, to the student who had just entered. She couldn't help breaking into a smile at the sight of her cousin, Alice, who was soaking wet. "Well, Alice," she said brightly, "I'm glad you were able to join us. Why don't you dry off with a drying charm and take a seat? I should probably deduct points for lateness, but I'll give you the same deal I gave Regulus. I won't deduct points if you can name an example of a mundane plant that has magical uses."
It was going to be interesting, teaching the class with so many of her own cousins in it! She was just glad Narcissa wasn't taking Herbology, or it would seem like her family was taking over the whole class. She hoped Alice wouldn't mind that she gave her the same treatment that she had given Regulus. After all, if she showed partiality to any of her students, she would surely be called out on it. She had a feeling the Slytherin boy, in particular, would do just that.

Severus had been about to speak when he was interupted by yet another late student. "Severus Snape." He felt so dismissed when she turned her attention to the other student. What was he to do? wait until they finished chatting about the weather? or how that had affected travel by foot?

Alice smiled brightly at Andi having asked her such a simple question, at least for someone who loved Herbology as much as she did. Alice didn't hesitate and looked calm before listing not one but several answers just because she couldn't help herself and it was such a simple question. And although she hadn't been there to know about what she'd asked her other cousin Regulus she was glad she'd been offered the same deal as him and was quite relieved to not have points deducted for her lateness this time. She believed in fairness and after all it was only the right thing to do if she offered the same opportunity to other students that she did not resent having been asked to answer a question. It was quite gracious of Andi to do even.
"Well there are daisies who's roots can be used, or belladonna even which is used commonly as a potion ingredient." She waited to see if the professor wanted more examples but she didn't want to sound like a know it all either. She was still a fairly humble girl who tried to give a little extra effort when she was able to.

Andi smiled at Alice. Of course she had known that her cousin would know the answer. She had always been good at Herbology. "Very good, Alice," she replied. "Both daisies and belladonna are good examples of mundane plants with magical uses. And since you named two, not just one, I'll give 5 points to Gryffindor, just as I gave Severus over here for filling in the answer for Regulus." She paused to smile over at Severus, to let him know that she had managed to catch his name even as she was speaking to Alice.
"Now, then," she said. "In case you haven't guesed, we're going to start out today discussing the differences between mundane and magical plants, along with the uses of mundane plants. Can someone tell me some examples of magical plants?"
