Gage didn't like the wet weather. His home in California had always been sunny. So when Gage walked out to the grounds and an old gutter broke, pouring water from the rain the night before over him and soaking him to the core, Gage could tell this wasn't going to be a good day.
He walked into the classroom, scowling. His wavy brown hair soaked and sticking to his face and his shoes making a wet squeaking sound with each step he took. He took a seat and frowned more. He hoped this class would go by quickly so he could go and change.

Andromeda spotted the boy walk in, soaking wet, and sighed. It would certainly not be pleasant for the boy to sit in class like that. So she turned from Rabastan, with a frosty "excuse me for a minute" and walked over to the boy. "I certainly hope you weren't rolling around in the wet grass out there," she commented. "Let me just use a quick drying spell on you, OK? You don't want to sit in class like that." She waved her wand over him in small circles as she uttered the incantation, "radiatus."
When the boy appeared to be dry again, she gave him a bracing smile. "There now, that should be better. I'm Professor Black, by the way." Then she walked back to the front of the room, where Rabastan was still standing. "Now, again, Rabastan, what are you doing here?"

"Well, Professor Black," he said, drawing out her name with an easy smile. "I like to think I'm furthering my education. Fancy you being here to help with that."
He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back against the table closest to him, after quickly making sure no plants would aattack him or anything of the sort. "You'll still angry with me," he said softly.

Andi couldn't quite understand why her stomach churned when he looked at her like that. She was long since over him, and she was happy with Ted, who made her feel better than Rabastan ever had. Still, the history between them, ugly as it was, still seemed to hang in the air between them.
"No, I'm not angry with you," she replied coldly. "If I was only angry with you, that would imply that we were friends. And we're not. We never will be. I was just another one of your conquests, and I certainly don't flatter myself to think I meant any more to you than anyone else. And you know, you shouldn't be talking to me in such a familiar tone. I'm a professor now, and you're still a student."

"I made a mistake with you, Andi," Rabastan said, his voice dropping low so that the rest of the class couldn't hear him. "If I could go back and do it all over again, I would never even look at her. But I can't. All I can hope to do is make it up to you now, even if you fight me on it. But the way I see it... you teaching now is my second chance, and I'm not going to throw that away."
He seemed so sincere when he said it, the sadness and regret in his eyes, and he was completely focused on her. He didn't expect this to be easy, or that she'd forgive him right away, but he needed to start somwhere.

There had once been a time when that voice, those sad eyes, might have seduced her. Thank Merlin for Ted, who had shown her what real love was like. She would not be fool by that look of sincerity, because she knew it wasn't real. "The mistake was mine, for trusting you," she replied, her eyes hardening. "I knew what you were, and I went out with you anyway. That was my mistake. I thought I could change you. But I couldn't change you then, and I highly doubt you've changed now. Besides, you're too late. I'm seeing someone. And he means a lot to me."

"Good," Rabastan said with a nod and a smile. "Good, I'm glad there's someone in your life. I only hope he realizes what he has," he added. He was expecting this to be difficult.
"I'm not trying to win you back... not yet. That's too much to ask for. I just want you to know how much I regret what I did. But I have changed. I'll prove it to you." Indeed, he would be on his best behavior for a while. There was no reason why he couldn't win her back in the end. He was Rabastan Lestrange.

She relaxed slightly. She still felt there was more of a reason for his being here than just a friendly visit. But she supposed that it was entirely possible that he could have changed his ways since she'd last seen him. It had been more than a year since she'd had any contact with him at all. And he didn't seem to have his harem of adoring girls around him at that moment, so that was something. Still, he hadn't even seemed sorry after he'd betrayed her. Why was he sorry now? The timing seemed suspicious to her.
"Well... OK, then," she said, her voice still doubtful. "Now, don't you have somewhere you need to be?"

"Free period," he said. "If you don't mind, I'd like to sit in on your class, Professor Black," he said, eyebrows slightly raised in a hopeful, apologetic way. "I won't cause any trouble."
The way he saw it she had no reason to say no. He was a student, afterall... she should encourage him to stay. "If it makes you uncomfortable, though, I can leave."

Andi frowned. She really didn't want him there, but there was no rule against a student sitting in on a class, as long as he didn't have somewhere else he had to be. There was really no good reason to tell him to leave. But he did make her uncomfortable...
"Well, OK," she said reluctantly. "You can sit in. Just sit near the back, OK? Try not to disturb the other students." Or me, she almost added, but she didn't want him to know he could still do that.

"Thanks Professor," Gage said quietly. He then let the teacher get back to her convorsation with an older Slytherin boy. Gage pulled out a quill and parchment and enjoyed the feeling of being dry before having to go outside to the wet weather again.

Rabastan nodded. "I will sit in the back and I won't be a bother to anyone," he repeated after her. "Thank you... for letting me stay." He meant it in more than a curricular way, and he knew she would sense that as well. "Good luck today," he added with a gentle smile as he turned and walked towards the table in the back, pleased with himself. He was cocky enough to think that he still had a pull on her. This wouldn't be nearly as difficult as he thought.

Gage watched the Slytherin boy walk to the back of the class and take a seat with a cocky grin on his face. Then he looked up and saw how bothered Professor Black was. Gage began to doodle on his parchment. He had a feeling that this was going to be quite an interesting class this year.

Evelyn had been so preoccupied in trying to get Severus to talk that she hadn't even noticed Rabastan Lestrange enter the greenhouse and strike up a conversation with the new professor. It wasn't until nearly the entire class was watching the interactions that she even looked up. Her face turned bright red as she stared at the seventh year, who walked past her without even a glance. He sat in the back. How was she to look up to the front if he was in the back?

Andromeda released a sigh she hadn't realized she'd been holding in. She couldn't understand why he could still get to her. She was long since over him. He had hurt her too badly for her to even think about the good times she'd had with him--and after all, there had been so few. And besides, she had Ted. She closed her eyes a moment and allowed herself to think about him, smiling at her with his cute little-boy smile. She felt herself begin to relax as she pictured his face.
Opening her eyes again, she walked back and sat down at her desk as she waited for the rest of the class to arrive.

Natalie Speller was walking up to Herbology, she wasn't in the class, she hadn't been sorted yet but she wanted to see what it was like.
Natalie Entered the Green House and walked up to Professor Black. "Hello, I'm Natalie. I was just wandering If I could watch the lesson? I haven't done any lessons yet as I have not been sorted but can I still watch?"
Natalie looked around the greenhouse and saw many people were here already. She was hoping no-one thought she was weird , asking to watch. But she just wanted to see what it was like.

Andi smiled at the girl. If she was going to allow Rabastan, who she actually didn't want anywhere near her, to sit in on the class, there was certainly no problem with this girl doing it. "Sure, go ahead," she replied. "You can sit near the back, OK?" She was careful not to tell her to sit all the way in the back, where Rabastan was sitting. Watching her. Her eyes instinctively traveled to the back of the room and locked on him for a moment before she ripped them away.
It was not going to be easy concentrating with him there. Why did he still affect her?

"Oh Thanks! And by the way I just got sorted in a quick amount of time so after this can I sign up for the class? I'll be good, promise!" Natalie thought she sounded a bit weird. She decided not to say anything else. What if a teacher didn't like her from the moment they met?

Andi gave the girl another smile. She seemed like a very innocent sort of girl, and she felt immediately protective of her. Andi hoped Rabastan didn't try anything with the girl. He always had liked the innocent types.
"That's fine," she replied. "Just take a seat. We'll be starting shortly."
She kept her eyes on the girl, to make sure she made it to her seat safely. She would not look at Rabastan.

Remus trudged out to the greenhouse, his shoes and socks getting drenched from the earlier rain. Why did it always have to rain before this class? Or maybe it just seemed like it. As he finally reached the greenhouse, he was in fairly bad mood.
He saw that the teacher was a pretty young witch. She didn't seem like she could be much older than a seventh year student. As he looked around, he also noticed that Sirius was sitting in the front of the room, which was highly unusual for him.
"Hey," he said, making his way over to his friend. "How come you're sitting in the front?"
