Ted glanced up. "Me?" He asked, reaching out for the letter. "No wonder the little owl looked offended that I was ignoring him."
He took it from her and read the first couple of lines before he sighed.
"It's Vincent," he said, looking back at her and tucking the half-read note away. "He wants me in."

Andi had been afraid it would be something like that as soon as she saw Ted's name on the letter, but she was still disappointed. "Yeah, I guess a little de-briefing is in order, huh? Well, we can't complain too much... at least he left you alone for the night. "Do you have to go right away?"
It was bizarre, but she missed him already and he hadn't even left yet.

Ted nodded. "To be honest, I should have gone in last night." He stopped and smiled softly. "But I will be sorry to leave you."
He stood from her table and took his dish, leaving hers since he wasn't sure if she was finished, and carried it to her sink. He didn't want to leave a mess for her to clean up when he left, but he almost felt like he was erasing evidence that he had been there. It was a strange thought that he didn't quite understand, and he brushed it away because Merlin knew that's not what he wanted to do.

Andi watched him at the sink, cleaning up his plate, while she finished the last of her toast. There was something so perfect about watching him there, cleaning. It felt so... homey. Like the perfect picture of a happy family... a husband and wife who loved each other and did little things to show how much they cared. Of course she'd never had that kind if idyllic family life. The house elves did the dishes, and her parents were anything but loving. Sure, they hadn't fought like Sirius's parents did. Rather, their relationship was cold and emotionless, and they returned that treatment to their children.
She washed down the last bit of toast with her juice, then stood up to join him at the sink. "Well, I'm glad you didn't. Last night was nice. You showed up just when I needed you and turned a crappy night into a perfect one."

"It was funny," he said, shrugging. "I got home and all I could really think of was how long it had been since I'd seen you. I probably would have ignored Vincent anyway."
He turned to her, taking her own dish from her and cleaning that one too. "And I'm glad I showed up, if you needed me," he added. He liked that she could have felt better because of him. It didn't feel like an ego thing, it just felt like he was needed, and that was enough for him.
When he was finished cleaning their dishes, he sighed. "I'll see you later, then?"

Andi smiled sadly. The whole day seemed to stretch out before her, now suddenly empty. Of course, she supposed she could stand to do some cleaning... "Yes, I guess so," she said. "I can walk you to the door, though," she added. It sounded really stupid, but she didn't want to stand there in the kitchen while he left. She wanted to spend every last possible second with him that she could.

"Thank Merlin," Ted said. "It's such a far walk to the door, I wasn't sure I could do it by myself," he teased her, but he was smiling and had a gentle look in his eyes. He would never make fun of her with the intent to embarrass or hurt her.
"I'll send you an owl or something after Vincent has had his way with me, yeah?"
