He followed her direction and pulled two glasses down, filling both with orange juice. Where his refridgerator had been empty, hers was well stocked. He didn't want to be nosey, but he gave the contents a quick once over. It would be useful, in the future, to know what she liked to eat.
Once again having nothing to do, and half curious how easily he could distract her, he stepped up behind her so that their bodies just barely brushed. "Looks like you're doing all right so far," he said near her ear.

Andi let out a soft sigh, reacting to the closeness of his body. She wondered if he knew just how distracting he was. She suddenly couldn't have cared less about the eggs, and would have rather turned towards him and allowed herself to get lost in his arms. She thought again about sleeping the night in his arms, and her cheeks flushed pink.
"Do you want me to burn the eggs again?" she said teasingly as she looked up at him.

"Kind of," Ted replied honestly with a smile. "I had entertained the idea, anyway," he added. It was a perfectly honest answer, and he wondered if she would take it as the sarcasm it was not, or if it would scare her away. So far, she seemed pretty inflappable, which was why he felt safe making the comment.
He dropped it there, though. They were still too new to each other. He stepped away. "I'm starved. Are you almost finished?"

Andi's cheeks flushed pink. "Oh, really?" she said teasingly. "I think maybe you're testing me. I said I wasn't a good cook, but you don't believe me, so you're trying to see if you can distract me. Well, I'll have you know that it's not going to work this time." She smiled and wondered if he knew just how much of a lie that really was. He distracted her with his very presence, here in her apartment.
Using her wand, she charmed the eggs to flip up and over onto the other side. "Oh, but now you're hungry, are you? Well, I'm almost finished. Of course, I'll still have to make a second batch..."

Ted put a hand on his chest and gave her a feigned look of being offended. "I would never 'test' you," he said. Because she'd always pass... with flying colors. "Although, you're right, you know. I don't believe you that you can't cook, we'll have to find out."
He shook his head when the eggs flipped over. "You cheated," he said with a laugh. "I thought you were doing this the muggle way?" Holding his hands up, in a surreandering motion, he added "But if it gets you to that second batch quicker, by all means..."

"Well, even if I do get the eggs right, it doesn't prove I can cook," Andi said with a laugh. "Maybe I'll have to attempt something more challenging next time, just to prove to you that I'm not very good."
She got two more eggs out of the carton, so she could start the second batch as soon as the first was finished. Looking back at him, she shrugged. "Yeah, OK, I cheated. I couldn't resist. The last time I tried flipping something by hand, I messed it up." She made a face as she remembered her failed attempt at making pancakes the muggle way. "Trust me, a little magic is necessary sometimes."
Deciding that the eggs were finished, she grabbed a plate from the cabinet over her head and then charmed the eggs to jump onto it. "Here you go... two eggs over-easy," she said, handing him the plate.

He smiled like a cheshire cat. "So you're already planning a next time?" he asked her. It seemed the being invited into her apartment made him a little bolder, a little less afraid of scaring her off. She had stuck with him all night and still had him come for breakfast... that had to be a good sign. If it wasn't, he didn't know what was.
He took the plate from her, saying thank you, and set it on the counter behind him. "I'm waiting for you," he said, in case she asked.

Next time? She was already thinking of forever. But she sure wasn't going to tell him that. Not yet. No matter how bold she was feeling, she was not going to scare him away by taking things too quickly. Instead she smiled at him over her shoulder. "Yeah, I was thinking... maybe sometime I might try something a little more complicated.... like dinner or something. I'm never going to get better if I don't practice, after all."
Of course he'd wait for her. He was always a gentleman. She just hoped she didn't mess this batch up. Knowing he was watching her made her a little more nervous than usual. "If you want butter and jam for the toast, there's some in the refrigerator. I think I have strawberry and raspberry."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Maybe we could combine our efforts... between the two of us, we'd have to come up with something edible, right?" He smiled. "And I promise to have my refrigerator stocked." Indeed, the second he left her today, he was going grocery shopping. And then he wondered if that was the second time he had made that mental note.
"I'm all right with out. Do you want butter or jam?" He asked as an after thought, then went to fridge and pulled out the butter and both flavors of jam for her.

Andi smiled back at him. "Well, we probably could do better if we worked together. As I said, I think I just need to get used to doing it, and I'll probably get better."
Determining that the eggs were ready to flip, she again charmed them to flip over in the pan. "Oh, you know what else you could do, if you don't mind? Agamemnon could use his breakfast as well. There are cans of cat food in the pantry in the corner. He just gets half a can in his bowl... that's right over there. If you feed him, he'll love you for life."

Ted's eyes followed where she was pointing, just so he wouldn't look like an idiot looking around for the food and the cat's dishes.
"Not a problem," he said, going towards the cabinet when it struck him that he was feeding her cat. In a weird, sentimental way, it made him smile. There was a comfortable air between them now, and while it may have taken them a long time to actually coordinate the first date, they had gotten to this point quickly.
Emptying half the can into the small dish, he tapped the floor. "Come here, kitty cat," he said in a half sing song voice.

Andi watched as Agamemnon walked, tentatively at first, into the kitchen. He looked up at her first, as if he was questioning her, then back at Ted. With a soft "burrrt," the cat walked over to Ted and began to rub up against his leg for a minute. Then he turned his attention to his dish.
"See, I told you. Friend for life," she said with a smile.
Her eggs were finished then, so she charmed them to jump out of the pan and onto the waiting plate. Then she quickly turned off the heat and took her plate and fork over to the table. "OK, time to find out if I really can cook," she teased as she sat down.

"Nah," Ted said, squatting to pet the cat. "There's another man in here vying for your attention... I think he's still scoping me out." He grinned at Andi as he rose to his fee again. "Seeing how much of a threat I pose."
Ted picked up his dish as well, following her and taking a seat. "Here goes nothing," he teased, getting a bite onto his fork.
He pretended to savor the eggs, to consider them, before he smiled at her. "Not bad."

Andi let out a sigh of relief. She had been unusually nervous for him to try her cooking. This was the first time she had tried to cook for another person, so she really hadn't been sure she would be able to pull it off. Although, the fact that she'd only burned the eggs once and had managed to avoid setting the apartment on fire was pretty encouraging.
She took a bite of her eggs and smiled with satisfaction. Yes, the eggs were pretty good. "Thanks," she said. She picked up her glass and had a sip of her juice. Smiling she added, "Well, you did a good job pouring the juice. And Agamemnon seems satisfied with his breakfast, so I'd say you did something right there, too."

Ted let out a breath of a laugh, something just slightly more dignified than a snort. "Yes, it's a well known fact that if you don't pour certain juices just the right way, the taste is ruined and you have to start all over. I'm a very proficient juice pourer."
He took another bite of eggs and smiled. "Actually, these are quite good. I don't think I could make them any better." He was being sincere, and really was starting to think that she was lying about everything she said she was bad at.

Andi laughed. "Hey, I know for a fact that it's true. I mean, if you pour the juice wrong, it gets all bubbly. And who wants bubbly juice?" She shook her head. That had all sounded much better in her head. "Besides, you didn't spill anything, right? That's a little better than I usually do. I'm not usually all that coordinated first thing in the morning."
She took another bite of her eggs and smiled when he said that he couldn't do any better. "Well, thanks. I think I just got lucky today," she replied. She paused to spread a little butter on her toast and looked at him for a moment. Even now, having him in her kitchen made her heart beat a little faster. She still couldn't believe that he was interested in her. She'd never really felt all that interesting or pretty.... but when he looked at her with those blue eyes, it thrilled her to the tips of her toes. How had she managed to get so lucky?
"Did you have any plans today?" she asked casually.

Ted shrugged, a bite of eggs in his mouth that he finished chewing before answering her. "Not really. Grocery shopping, maybe," he added. Unless he planned to continue eating at Andi's, which he certainly wouldn't mind, he was going to have to get himself food or his apartment.
Besides, he owed her a nice meal for this, and he was still embarrassed that his place had been empty when he promised her a breakfast.
"Why?" he asked rather obliviously, looking up after taking a sip of juice.

(I'm actually looking for a way to end this thread, lol.)
Andi shrugged and ate a little more of her eggs before answering. "Oh, no reason, I guess," she replied. "It's just that I don't actually have any plans, either. I was just kind of trying to think some something to do today. It's a nice day out... seems a shame to waste it. I mean, I could probably stand to do some cleaning today, but I don't really want to."
But was it a bit much for them to hang out all day together? He'd only just got back from his trip; was it fair to monopolize him when maybe he might have other things to do?

Just as he was about to tell her that he wasn't busy at all if it meant spending more time with her, and owl flew in her half opened window. It caught the cat's eye before it landed on the table. Ted assumed it was for her, and didn't pay much attention to the little bird.
He finished his eggs while he was waiting for her to take the message from the owl, noticing how much faster than her he ate. It made him slightly self conscious.
"I can rearrange my oh so important plans, if you like," he joked.

Andi was already imagining the prospect of spending a whole day with him, but frowned when the owl flew in. Possibly it was just a letter from Molly or something, but she had a bad feeling about it. She finished the last of her eggs, then gingerly picked up the owl while Ted was talking. Removing the letter from around its leg, she unrolled it and watched as it expanded to full size. She only read the first two words to know the letter wasn't for her.
"Actually, Ted, this is for you," she said, handing him the letter.
