Amelia sniffed at the air loudly. "I know I'm going to be outnumbered here, seeing as how most of you are aurors." She laughed light-heartedly. "But I always thought us Magical Law Enforcement agents would make the best Ministers." She looked over to Emily. "No offense to Vincent, of course. I know he will be excellent. But there's a lot of minor things that the auror department doesn't deal with. Like domestic disturbances, and that sort. It's a much different outlook when you have to weigh the large and the small together. Not that you lot aren't doing a fantastic job with those Death Eaters!" She knew that there had been many Death Eater plots spoiled by the auror department. It really did look like the good side was winning at the moment. "I mean, there haven't really been any big situations with their kind lately."

No, there hadn't been any big situations lately, and Ted felt that, in part, that was due to the aurors, but it always made him wary. It had been quiet for too long, and he just hoped it didn't mean something big and catastrophic was going to happen.
He smiled at Amelia. "I think there are advantages to a Minister from every department, actually. Aurors are generally prepared for the worst, and we try to know how to solve the problem before it becomes an issue... best case scenario, anyway. I think that will help Vincent as the Minister. But I do see your point."

She listened to Ted's mini speech and nodded, knowing he was right. But to keep things light ad away from serious 'work' talk she made a joke. "I knew your lot would stick together," she chuckled. "But I do agree Vincent will be great. A wonderful change from the last regime."
Not knowing just how many people planned to be joining, Amelia figured they had waited long enough. And there was a nice sized group here now. Any more who showed up would certainly be welcomed, but she didn't want to make her current guests starve in the meanwhile. She summoned Didia and asked her to bring out the food. Didia nodded and disappeared, only to reappear a few moments later with two large platters balancing on her tiny little hands. For having such an awkward shape, the elf was quite graceful. Didia slid the platters onto the table and ducked back into the house for the rest. Amelia smiled once Didia had brought everything out. "Thank you Didia. You did a wonderful job, it all looks so good." The house elf smiled and then disappeared once more into the house. "Well," she said to the group," dig in." ((OOC: There's loads of food, just make up whatever you want. ))

Ted just grinned at her, nodding. "We *have* to stick together, or the rest of you Ministry employees would have us running for the hills, I think."
He glanced at Andromeda, seveal thoughts going through his mind until the food was brought out, and he felt his stomach rumble as if on cue.
"I think I'm going to have to sweep your house elf of her feet and run away with her, Amelia," Ted joked.

"The hills, yes. That seems the appropriate place for the lot of you." She looked at the outnumbering group of aurors and chuckled. She then looked to her boss, Felicia. "I think they're onto us," she grinned.
Amelia laughed across the table. "I think you might want to talk that one over with Andi first, Ted."

Andi blushed at the mention of her name. Clearly Amelia had put two and two together and figured out that Ted was the man she had been talking about the other night. But of course, it made perfect sense. After all, she was hardly able to keep her eyes off of him.
"Well, I'm quite certain that your sweet little house elf is a better cook than I'll ever be," Andi said with a smile. She turned her attention to Ted and had to pause to take a breath as she caught the look in his blue eyes. "I'm sure the two of you will be very happy together." She kept her voice serious and steady, but a smile played about her lips.
Merlin, how was it possible for him to look so breathtakingly gorgeous? She actually had to grip the arms of her chair to keep herself from rushing over to kiss him.

(OOC: I'm apologizing now for the fact that I can't spell anything)
Ted, never one to blush, really, looked over at Andromeda with that little boy grin of his again, though he tried to be subtle about it.
Amelia, he noticed, was not one for subtlety either, and he gave her a slight shake of his head and a smile to say that he was teasing, and said, "Well, she has already proven she can cook," he said, as if seriously considering it. "Though I have to admit, Andi... you would look far more dazling in a wedding dress."
And in the lack of a dress the night of... but he did not sy this outloud.

Andi's breath caught in her throat at the mention of a wedding dress. But she knew he was just joking... right? The grin on his face seemed to indicate that he was kidding.... but she couldn't quite stop her mind from traveling down wonderful paths that began with her in a wedding dress and ended with him taking it off of her....
She gulped and smiled back. She couldn't let anyone see that the idea had got her a little too excited. "Not to mention that if you were to give a wedding dress to the house elf, that would be giving her clothes, and then she might not wish to stay with you any longer," she replied with a laugh.

Ted put a hand over his heart and gave her a look like she had hurt him.
"Ouch, Andi," he teased. "Are you saying my charm and rugged good looks wouldn't keep her around?"
He laughed, realizing that one off-handed comment had lead him to a gentle ribbing with Andi, and he knew he should have never said anything about the wedding dress. Yes, it had been a joke, but perhaps a joke too far since the thought of marrying her was actually pleasant to him.
"The insults aside," he said, finally tearing his eyes from Andi and looking back at Amelia, "I'm starved and your house elf is an angel for the things she prepared."

Amelia looked around the table at the quiet guests as everyone seemed to be watching the adorable little drama that was Ted and Andromeda. It made Amelia smile. "I'm sure that will make her day," Amelia said of Didia, and Ted's complement to her. She grabbed one of the serving dishes that was in front of her, and began to serve herself. She then offered it to Kyle before reaching for the next dish.

Kyle helped himself to some of the food, then glanced over at Amelia. "I'm going to have to agree with Ted," he said to her. "Everything smells wonderful. Your house elf has done an incredible job. Please give her my compliments as well." He passed the dish along to Emily, who was sitting on his other side.
"I do hope Minister Corrigan shows up soon," he added to her. "I'm sure he just got held up with some work, but I was really looking forward to meeting him."

"If I wasn't so confident in myself I'd say you gentlemen were only here for my house elf," she teased Kyle, giving him a small smile before he turned to Emily. She looked at her watch under the table. It was not that late, but she had hoped a few more people would have arrived by now. However, the current company was far more than she had actually expected to come. She wasn't thatsocial at the office.

At that moment, the patio door opened, and Didia led Angelique and Cassidy out onto the patio, where everyone else was assembled.
Angelique was not fond of being late, but of course, her work had kept her busy. She had made it her own personal mission to prove that Greta Weiss was a death eater and that she was responsible for the death of her niece Sabrina. Sometimes, as now, her investigative work took longer than anticipated.
"Hi, everyone, sorry we're late," said Angelique. "Cassidy and I ran into each other at the door." She gave the shy girl a slight push forward. She was, after all, the only one of them carrying a gift.

Cassidy stepped forward, her face flushing red. "Hi, Amelia," she said, tucking a piece of hair back behind her ear. She held out the tin of teas to Amelia. "I really wanted to thank you for the invitation, it was very kind of you."
She didn't really know what else to say, but she was relieved to recognize a few familiar faces. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad, after all.

Tyler had talked himself into coming to the brunch half a dozen times, and talked himself out of it just as many. He would never remember what finally made him decide to come (and it had taken a while, since he still had the grounding spell on him), but here he was, standing in front of Amelia Bones' house, trying to keep from talking himself out of it again.
No one would want him here, he reasoned. He had messed up badly, gotten people hurt. But he was desperate to prove to them that he hadn't meant any of it, that he would make sure it never happened again. And no one would trust him if they never saw him.
A few minutes later, he was walking into the back yard, taking a deep breath at everyone assembled. Quite a few of them were Aurors... and Emily Alchemia was here. The only face that made him relax was Cassidy's, and even she made him nervous. He stood awkwardly in the door way for a moment.

Cassidy saw the movement out of the corner of her eye and glanced up to see Tyler standing there. A smile involuntarily slipped onto her lips at the sight of him. She so rarely got to see him outside of his house, so it almost seemed strange to see him here now. But in a good way. It was brave of him to come out here, to a brunch full of Ministry people, many of whom may not be as glad to see him as she was now.
She fought off the urge to run to him and hug him. That certainly wouldn't be appropriate for so many reasons. So she smiled at him and nodded slightly, hoping he would get the message.

Just as she was thinking there would be no more guests, three arrived. She stood and turned to greet them. "Welcome. We were just starting to eat, please take a seat." She gestured to the empty chairs towards the end of the long table. "Thank you so much Cassidy. You really didn't need to." She turned the tin over, looking at it. It was very pretty. She would need to invite Cassidy over for tea sometime as a proper thanks. Her eyes lingered a moment longer than necessary on Tyler. She had invited him because she wanted to show he was not out casted for the unfortunate incident. And yet she wasn't truly convinced he was innocent. But just in case... He would have to be fairly stupid to try anything here, with so many Aurors and Hit Wizards present. She smiled at him, to cover her lingering look.

Tyler met Cassidy's eyes, but he hesitated. This was probably a bad idea. No, there was no probably about it. This was a terrible idea, and he should have just stayed home.
He took a breath, and then shook his head at Cassidy before taking a step back, hoping no one else had caught sight of him yet. He could make a quiet escape that way, and she would understand.
But no. Seconds before he could make that escape, Amelia set that look on him. It was a look he could have swallowed and choked on, and it made him feel about three feet tall, whether or not that was her intention.

He looked uncertain and her too late smile seemed to only make things worse. She instantly felt bad. Trying to make amends without bringing attention to the situation she asked, "would anyone like a drink? Tyler?" She gave him the most honest smile she could, truly sorry she might have offended him. "Cassidy? Angelique?"

Even Ted's ever present smile seemed to fade when he caught a glimpse of Tyler. Maybe he was imagining it, but he could almost feel the tension rise. He didn't know if the kid was innocent or guilty, but he either had a lot of courage or a lot of nerve showing up here.
"Take a seat," he said to the three of them, following Amelia's lead to ease the tension. "There's plenty of room," he added, pulling a chair up next to him for whichever of the three wanted it. He hoped Tyler would take it, as his Auror instincts kicked in.
