Amelia grinned. "I don't entertain much, but when I do I like it to be an event." She giggled lightly and the summoned some glasses from a cupboard above his head. "Here you are," she said cheerfully as the glasses set themselves on the counter in front of Ted, clinking gently as they did so. "So Andromeda tells me you two are..." she stopped, wondering if she would be scolded for letting Ted know how much Andi liked him. Some women were fickle about those things and she hadn't yet had a chance to sit with her and gush properly. "...dating," she finally finished.
Amelia heard a knock at the door just then. "Oh dear. I'm afraid I might just have to have Didia answer that. I simply must hear what you think of our Andi." She gestured for him to wait a second while she summoned the house elf and directed her to answer the door for any more guests. She also apologized to her, since Amelia had told Didia earlier that she would let the guests in. Didia nodded and got the door.
"Hello miss. Right this way please," the tiny elf beckoned as she guided the newest member of the party to the backyard where a number of people were now chatting. "My mistress is making drinks. She'll be out shortly." The elf then scurried away, leaving Felicia to the mercy of the others.
"So?" Amelia continued once Didia had left. "Isn't Andromeda wonderful?" She was leading him, sure. But she was fairly certain he would say something similar anyway.
((OOC: From now on all guests may let themselves into the party. Since Didia is an NPC, just post for her. ))

Ted looked up quickly when she asked about Andromeda, nearly fumbling with the glass he was holding. She surprised him with that remark, though what was he going to say? No? They hadn't officially labled themselves as a couple yet, but they pretty much were.
He turned his attention back to the drinks, thinking the knock at the door had saved him. It wasn't that he didn't want to answer her. It was just that she had caught him off guard. He also knew, since it was a girl asking, every word he said was going to get back to Andromeda. He didn't want to sound too eager to Amelia, or not eager enought.
"Listen to you," he laughed, and turned a smile her way when she stayed, and pressed him further. "All right, all right. I... Well, I suppose we're dating. And yes, she's... wonderful." His smile softened, thinking about her.

It was clear to anyone that he hadn't really anticipated having to talk about Andromeda, which was silly as he would surely know her girlfriends would ask. But with a smile she let the subject drop and turned her attention back to the drinks. "What have you brought there?" She looked at the bottles and read the labels quickly. "Yum," she said enthusiastically. She poured the champagne into the glasses letting him pour the orange juice since it was further from her.

He gave her an odd look and laughed, opening the carton of orange juice. "That's it?" he asked, taking the glasses as she poured them. "You're not going to ask me anything else about her? I'm a little disappointed," he teased.
He had just needed to get his bearings when she asked. He and Andromeda still seemed uncertain to him, so he really hadn't known she had told anyone about them. He didn't mind, of course. It actually made him a little happy, and a little more sure of himself where she was concerned.

She laughed heartily. "Oh no, of course not! I have loads more questions waiting. Don't you worry. But I thought I'd ease you into the interrogation," she said with a wink. She summoned a large, silver serving tray from a bottom cupboard which flew toward her gently. Taking the tray from the air, she wiped it down with a towel, to ensure it was clean before she set the drinks on it.

He laughed as he helped set the drinks on the tray. "Well, all right. I was just making sure you weren't letting me off easy."
When the drinks were all on the tray, he reached for the champagne and the orange juice, closing them both. "I'm just going to put these in your refridgerator, if you don't mind." He didn't think she would mind, of course, but he just felt it would be rude of him to open her fridge without saying anything.
"Is there anything else I can help you bring out?"

"Of course I don't mind." She wouldn't want the drinks sitting out and getting warm. Using a simple spell Amelia levitated the tray, keeping it absolutely steady as it floated before her. Much more steady than it would have been, had she carried it out herself. "I think Didia should have everything else, but thank you so much Ted. Shall we join the others now?"
The tray floated with her as she walked back to the yard where the others were. "Felicia! I'm so glad you could make it," she said to the newest guest. "Mimosa?" The serving tray floated in front of each guest in turn. "Ted was thoughtful enough to bring us some tasty drinks."

He stowed the drinks in the fridge and followed her outside. It was strange, sometimes, that he forgot to do things with magic. It made more sense to levitate the tray, but had it been him, he would have tried to carry it. Being muggleborn kept him in that mindset it seemed, even given his profession.
He found a seat on the patio near Andromeda, but not right next to her since those seemed to be taken up with other guests, and waited until everyone had the chance to take a drink before he took one himself.

Felicia nodded politely to Amelia. "Thanks so much for the invitation," she said. "I brought a blackberry pie for you. You can serve it, or keep it for yourself. I gave it to your house elf, if that's OK."
She accepted a mimosa from the tray, then took a sip as she glanced around. It seemed most of the people at the party were aurors. But she supposed there was a greater need for them these days.

Andi accepted a drink from the tray, then shifted in her seat to look over at Ted. She didn't want to be rude to the others sitting close by, but she found she just couldn't take her eyes off of him. At the moment, very little conversation was going on, and she felt the need to break the ice. Flashing a quick smile at Ted, she tore her eyes away from him and looked over at Emily. "So, Emily, if you don't mind my asking, is it true that you and Vincent will be getting married soon?"

Emily smiled as she noticed Andi looking at Ted. It was cute, but she wasn't going to say anything to embarrass either one of them. She told Didia she preferred a glass of water if the little house elf didn't mind.
As Didia returned quickly with a glass of water, Emily thanked her kindly and turned to Andi as she spoke. She felt heat in her cheeks and she started to smile. "Yes, we are. I'm almost finished with the invitations. The date we have planned is December 10th. That gives enough time to make sure everything is in order. I hope that you can make it. Your invitation will be sent out later today."

"That's great!" Andi said, smiling, even as she peeked over at Ted from the corner of her eye. He looked bored. "Congratulations. Vincent's a really nice guy. I was so lucky to have a chance to train with him. He's coming today, right? I don't see him here yet."

Ted could only smile back at her as she turned in her seat to look at him, and he dutifully turned his attention to Emily.
"Congratulations are in order, then," he said, raising his glass to her. Ted had always loved weddings, and he didn't care how feminine and sentimental that was of him. It was the romantic deep inside of him that seemed to have a renewed hope in love when two people decided to make that commitment.

Amelia thanked Felicia and took the seat between her and Kyle. It was lucky that this seat just happened to be open. Here she could make nice with her boss. She was hoping for a promotion and even though her invitation to the brunch, and the brunch itself, had nothing to do with work, what was the harm in a little flattery? And on her other side was Kyle. She had enjoyed their conversation the other night immensely and wanted to hear more about his work with dark creatures.

"Thank you," she said looking between Andi and Ted. "I believe he is supposed to be coming. I haven't had the chance to see him long enough to talk to him. I've been going non stop since I woke up this morning." She gave a smile relaxing in her seat. "He's probably busy, but more than likely he'll be here at some point."

"Excellent," Amelia chimed in on Emily's and the others' conversation. Vincent, aside from being the new Minister of Magic, was also about to get married. And that meant he would have twice as many interesting stories to tell. She would love to hear about the wedding details from a man's perspective. She had had many girl friends in school that talked non stop about their weddings that they had all planned out, minus having the fiancée. But to hear what a man had to say about the process would be most interesting.

Cassidy had been flattered by the invitation, although she assumed that it was merely being sent to most ministry employees. She wasn't a very social person by nature, and really was only able to talk with a few people. But she decided to go anyway, if only to remind people (especially Vincent) that she still worked there.
Like everyone else, Cassidy felt obligated to bring a gift for the hostess, especially since she didn't really know Amelia except in passing. She agonized for quite a while over what kind of thing was appropriate to bring to a brunch, and finally settled on a beautifully painted tin filled with gourmet tea leaves.
So, gift in hand, she arrived at Amelia's house. She was about to knock on the door when she heard a popping sound behind her, announcing the arrival of another person by apparation.

Angelique apparated just in front of Amelia's house. She smiled as she recognized the person already standing by the door. "Cassidy!" she greeted her friend. "It's been too long! How are you?" She moved forward to embrace her. Since she had not brought any gift, her arms were empty.

Ted stole a glance at Kyle as the girls continued talking about the wedding. Weddings were one of those topics that could so easily shut men up. He wondered what the only other man there was thinking, then his mind strayed a little and he wondered what Vincent's reaction would have been, had he been here. Would it be the scared, nervous face, that said he was terribly in love but still terrified, or that dopey smile that said he was deeply, hopelessly in love with Emily and nothing else mattered?

Kyle had sort of zoned out during the wedding conversation. Being a man, he wasn't really all that comfortable with wedding talk, especially since he had no prospective brides at that point in time. Although he was looking forward to his date with Amelia, he knew that whatever it was they had was far too new and uncertain to think about such things.
He glanced over toward Ted, the only other male present at the brunch. Like everyone else, Kyle had seen the look between Andi and Ted. They made a cute couple, he had to admit. He wondered whether Ted was as uncomfortable with the wedding talk as he was. After all, Ted seemed to be pretty serious about Andromeda. Was he panicking about what thoughts were going through Andi's mind?
Changing the subject, he said, "I admit, I'm looking forward to meeting Vincent. I haven't been at the Ministry since Craven's administration. I'm glad to see someone who will actually do something to improve things. Aurors make the best Ministers, as far as I can see."
