Coda felt like she was losing everything that had brought her happiness. Her wolf family and now part of her human family. She buried her face into Athena's shoulder as the tears began to fall, she wanted him back, she wanted a whole family. She didn't think it was right or fair for the people to take him away. "Why did they take him?" She asked her voice muffled.

Athena felt her heart breaking as Coda began to cry in her arms. "I don't know, sweetie," she said in a choked voice. "I just know that there are bad people in the world, and sometimes they do terrible things for no reason. Just like when Natalie's older sister was killed last year. There was no reason for it... and it wasn't fair. But there is some hope for Alastor... he left here alive. I know that much. There's still a chance."

Coda didn't understand why there had to be bad people, she had thought being with humans would mean no more bad things.

Wesley watched Athena and the children sadly. It was all too much. First Olivia, then Sabrina, now Alastor... it seemed like the war was claiming far too many victims. And they all seemed to be people who were close to him. He held Natalie's hand worriedly. "I'll send a message to Dumbledore now," he said to no one in particular. He took out his wand and conjured a Patronus. His Patronus, a horse, galloped off toward the school in a silvery white cloud.

Natalie silently slipped away from the rest of them and wandered into the house. She was beginning to question her powers. An incident like this, she should have seen, even if she hadn't touched Alastor lately. It didn't make sense to her. She usually saw the big things like this. How had she missed this?
As she entered the house, she was brought to her knees by the sheer power of the hatred and violence that filled the air. It swirled around her, chaotic and frightening, like a hurricane. The people who had come here had been filled with fury and hate. They had caused terrible destruction and left devastation in their wake.
She reached out and touched the shattered coffee table and was instantly assaulted by visions of violence and destruction. She saw it all, how they had burst in wearing hoods, yelling and screaming and firing spells every which way. They threw furniture and smashed things with their bare hands. One of them cut his hand on a broken vase. Several of them went upstairs, but she couldn't see what happened there.
Tears streaming down her face, Natalie got up and walked numbly to the stairs. Touching the railing, she could see the intentions of the attackers. They were there to get Alastor.
Her legs were shaking violently as she climbed the stairs and headed for Alastor's room. The destruction in the room was even worse than it was downstairs. Choking back a sob, she touched a piece of the shredded mattress and waited for the visions to take over.

Wesley glanced up and noticed that Natalie had gone into the house. He stared after her worriedly. He knew how her visions tormented her, especially when they failed. He had no idea if Alastor could have been saved if Natalie had been able to see it in one of her visions, but he knew that she was probably going to blame herself for not seeing it and trying to stop it somehow.
He sighed to himself, hoping that at least she would be able to tell them what had happened to Alastor.

Albus Dumbledore, having received a message by Patronus, hurried into the town of Hogsmeade Village. The news was grave, he feared, and he wanted to check things out for himself. He had also contacted Vincent Corrigan and several other Aurors to report to the scene. But he wanted to be there first.
As he approached, he saw them all in the front yard, gathered around and huddling close to each other. He walked up to Athena and placed a soothing hand on her shoulder. "My dear, I am so sorry about what has happened. I assure you, we're going to investigate this incident and do whatever we can to help you."

Athena held Coda close to her and nodded quietly at Dumbledore. She hoped the girl wasn't too frightened of him; after all, he was a large and intimidating man even for a normal child. But Coda had very likely never seen a man like Dumbledore. All the same, she was incredibly relieved to see him. She knew that the investigation was in good hands, now that he was there. "Thank you, Professor," she said. "I appreciate your offer. All I want is to find out what happened here, and what happened to Alastor."

Coda squeaked then hid behind Athena when a very tall man walked up to them. She couldn't sense anything bad from him but he was really tall. He was even taller then Alastor, she peeked at him from behind Athena but moved back to being fully behind her.

Albus gave a gentle smile to the young girl, then nodded politely at Athena. "We'll do our best to figure out what happened to him. In the meantime, perhaps we can put you up somewhere, some place where you'll be safe? You can't stay here tonight, not after what has happened."

Athena nodded her head. "Yes, I think that would be best," she said. "It doesn't need to be a large place, we'll all just stay in one room, if that's OK. I want to be close to the family that I have left." She curled her arm around Coda and the boys. Her eyes felt raw from the effort it took not to cry. She hoped Coda wouldn't notice. The girl was already frightened enough.

Coda heard a lone howl, her ears perked up, the howl had sounded like Tis. She knew he could help to try to find Alastor, Coda looked toward the forest. "Tis..." Coda looked up at Athena, "Tis could help... he knows Daddy's scent..." She looked back at the forest and saw him sitting outside the edge of the forest.

Athena turned to Coda, feeling her despair morphing into confusion mingled with hope. "Tis?" she repeated blankly. Could the wolf really help track down Alastor? She glanced from Coda to Dumbledore and back again. "I... I suppose it's worth a try..." she said softly.

"Can I go get him? He's right over there." She pointed to the wolf sitting there watching them. "He knows Daddy... he likes Daddy..." She looked at where Tis was sitting wondering if he could find her daddy. Tis was one of the best trackers she knew, she hoped he could find him.

Athena bit her lower lip. The way she was feeling right now, she didn't want Coda to be away from her, even a few feet. But if it could help find Alastor, it was worth a try. "O.... OK," she said at last. "But don't go where I can't see you. Stay close by, OK? I don't want to lose you, too."

"Ok." Coda gave her a quick hug then ran over to where Tis was, once there she sat beside him and told him what she knew about Alastor being gone. She then stood up and walked with Tis back to the house, she kept one hand on his back petting his a little.

Back inside the house, Natalie was immersed it the most vivid, violent vision she'd ever had in her life. It was so real, it was as if she had been there, watching as the destructive, hateful people--all wearing black hoods and masks to hide their faces--smashed things with their bare hands, and one with what looked like a muggle baseball bat, only it had teeth that chomped at the furniture. They blazed a path of destruction through the house until they reached Alastor's room.
But while they were smashing and destroying, Alastor had heard them coming. He'd have to be deaf not to hear them. He slid out of the bed and then under it, then transformed into his animagus form. When the attackers entered the room, one of them cackled in a haughty-sounding tone and called out Alastor's name. Seeing that he wasn't in the bed, they immediately began looking for him. Of course, the first place they looked was under the bed.
Immediately, Alastor, as the small Jack Russell Terrier, bolted out from under the bed. He jumped up and bit the first Death Eater on his hand, then ran towards the door. The Death Eater pulled out his wand, then fired a curse at the dog. A green jet of light shot through the air, but just narrowly missed the dog.
"Don't just stand there! Get that dog!" yelled the Death Eater. His companions scrambled to chase the dog, but Alastor was too quick. He ran down the stairs and out the front door, then disappeared in the woods....
Natalie shook out of her trance. He was alive. Her uncle was alive.
She turned and ran down the stairs and out of the house as fast as she could.

Dumbledore was watching the girl, Coda, and her wolf friend as they approached. The wolf, though wild, seemed relaxed and calm with the young girl. "I understand you are willing to do whatever it takes to find Alastor," he said to Athena, "but I caution you not to cling too tightly to false hopes. Perhaps the wolf can help, but please, don't get too excited either way. Things may not turn out the way you hope. In fact, if Alastor is alive, there's every possibility that it's because he escaped before the attackers could do anything to him. If this is true, then Alastor may have to go into hiding in order to stay alive and keep the rest of you safe. Therefore, finding him may be more dangerous to him and to you than not finding him."

As if on cue, Natalie ran out of the house just then, panting heavily. "He's.... he's alive! I saw it! My vision... I saw everything! He's alive!"
The girl collapsed on the ground in front of her father, her small chest heaving with exhaustion. The vision had taken a lot out of her, and in the urgency to tell what had happened, she had sprinted from the house before she had managed to gather her own strength.

Coda had just got to them to hear Natalie. "Tis said he saw some humans chasing a dog." She looked up at the man then back at Tis. She got down on the ground and hugged the wolf and nuzzled his neck.
