Kyle Connolley entered the gates of the Botanical Gardens, his brisk, purposeful walk at odds with the other people who were milling about the entrance. The Botanical garden was closing for the day, and most of the people around were in good moods, laughing and smiling from a leisurely afternoon looking at the exotic plants and flowers. But not Kyle. He brushed past a young couple locked together in a romantic kiss and marched straight toward the main office.
Once inside, he approached the manager. "Kyle Connolley here," he said. "I'm from the dark creature removal service. I understand you've got a boggart hiding somewhere here?" He still thought it odd, because boggarts preferred small, dark places, and were unlikely to be found in a garden.
The man behind he desk cleared his throat. "Yes. Well, we do... it's actually not in the garden itself. We keep a small barn with a couple of cows... we like to sell the milk and cheese in our gift shop, you know. But the boggart took up residence about a week ago... none of us can go near it. And it's spooking the cows so badly that their milk is curdling. yesterday, one of them died. You have to get rid of it. If you go around the outskirts of the garden, you'll reach it. Can you help?"
"Of course I can," said Kyle. "I'll get rid of it for you, then we can discuss the bill." He gave a quick, confident smile and headed out towards the barn.
As he approached the barn, he withdrew his wand, then opened the door slowly. "Hello?"
One of the cows came running at the door, and Kyle was forced to move out of the way before he was trampled. Then he stood very still and waited for the boggart to appear. "I'm not afraid of you," he called again.
That's when he heard the footsteps.

Delila had seen a man enter the barn, she had stayed there that day hidden deep in the hay. She stepped up toward the man, something had scared the cow and she wanted to investigate. She said nothing and stayed in the shadows, she tilted her head to the side, she was waiting for him to say or do something. She thought the man was cute and the males were her weakness. She smiled a fraction but not enough for him to tell.

Kyle saw a movement in the shadows and he strained his eyes against the darkness to make out the source of the movement. His boggart was usually a snake, and the movement didn't seem to match that of a snake. He held his wand out and uttered, "Lumos," in the hopes of shedding a little light on the situation. "Is someone there?" he called again, aiming the light from his wand in the direction of the footsteps.

Delila put on her sweet smile as she stepped forward as she did she raised her hand to shield her eyes from the light. "Could you please dim the light?" Her eyes were hurting from it even with her hand up.

Kyle lowered his wand when he saw that the figure was a little girl. "Oh, yeah, sure," he said quickly. "Nox." He looked at the girl again, a concerned expression on his face. The girl couldn't have been more than 13. "Are you OK? What are you doing in this dark barn with a bunch of cows? Come with me, I'll take you somewhere safe."

Delila backed up, shaking her head. "I-I can't..." She had gotten a thirst but water couldn't tame or cure it and that thirst was returning. She would have loved to have been able to go with him, but she couldn't risk being in the light where he could see the pale skin. "I.. I like it here... it's peaceful.. other then the cow that just ran out... I-I don't know what did that..."

"There's a boggart in here," Kyle explained, kneeling down on one knew so that he was closer to her face. She was so young and fragile-looking, and he still couldn't understand why a girl of her age was hiding out in a barn. Where were her parents? Was she a runaway? "It's been spooking the cows, and I'm here to get rid of it. Do you know what a boggart is?"

Delila shook her head, she had been what she heard was called a muggle and was forced into the magical world. She didn't want the man to know what she was, but she thought he might figure it out. She jumped as something banged in the back and the cows mooed in fright. She might not have a heart but she still got scared.

Kyle felt sorry for her. She seemed so scared and alone. "A boggart takes on the form of whatever you fear the most," he explains. "So if you're afraid of spiders, that's what it will turn into. They're actually pretty easy to get rid of, you just have to learn how to face your fear and laugh at it. Tell you what? Let me go take care of this one real quick, and then we'll talk some more, OK? I don't want you to have to spend the night alone in this barn. Your family must be worried about you."

Delila looked at the ground and shrugged, "I wouldn't know..." She looked up, "I can't remember them." She knew she should cry but for some reason she didn't, she didn't understand anything about what she was. She took a deep breath then added, "I was just about to leave and find some other place before the d-" She covered her mouth as she realized she almost told him something huge.

"You don't remember them?" Kyle repeated. Now this was more serious than he'd thought. "Why don't you remember? Do you have amnesia or something? You didn't hit your head, did you? Or were you hit with a memory charm? I can take you to St. Mungo's, they'll be able to help you, I'm sure of it."
He looked at her, his head tilted to one side. She had been about to say something, when she'd stopped abruptly. "Before what? What's wrong?"

"I'm not a normal little girl. I sleep of a day and I keep getting this thirst that no drink I find can cure. I don't belong in this world... I was forced into it." Her tone may have sounded as if she was about to cry but she couldn't feel any tears. She sat on the floor as she added, "I didn't want to tell you as you are the first I've spoken to since I left Ireland." She wondered what he was going to do to her if anything.

Kyle gasped. Sleeping all day? A thirst that no drink can cure? The meaning was clear. But the thought was too horrible for him to accept. This poor, innocent girl.... a vampire? Despite the fact that she was a demon, a killer... he still felt compassion towards her. But it confused him. The rules were generally clear when it came to vampires. They were evil. They were killers. And they had to be slain. It wasn't like with werewolves, where the line was a little more fuzzy. If only the girl were a werewolf! He could let her go, then just watch her on the full moon. But a vampire... he couldn't let her live, could he? "Do... do you feel a craving for blood?" he asked, his voice shaking slightly.

"I-I don't know... I.. I'm still new to it..." She ran a hand through her red hair. "I remember being bit not long after I turned 13, I don't know who did it but I came here to find who ever it was. I-I know I wasn't born to a magical family or I would have known to be in at night." She hated whoever bit her but she also hated herself for being out that night. She looked at the cows and saw the closest move from her eyeing her fearfully and warily.

Kyle sighed and ran a hand through his hair in frustration. He didn't know what to do in such a situation. He wanted to help the girl... but she was a vampire! "So, you were bitten, then?" he said with a sinking heart. "Have you killed anyone or anything yet? Have you met up with any other vampires?"

(Lets have this before she meets Amanda)
Delila shook her head, "No.. I-I don't think I could hurt anyone let alone kill." She just wanted to find the one that made her like this and ask them why. She licked her lips and she heard the cows heart race when their was another banging sound. She got lost in it's rhythm that she didn't notice she was staring at a calf hungrily.

Kyle shook his head, unsure of what to do. If the girl hadn't killed yet, maybe there was hope. Maybe she could be sent somewhere safe, where she could be given pig's blood or something similar in order to survive in a non-violent way. But who on earth would take in a child vampire, even if she was not a killer? He felt like he was caught in a situation he couldn't resolve. She was just a girl, and she hadn't done anything wrong, but was now cursed. She'd never age, and she'd never die a natural death. He knew he should slay her right now, put her out of her misery. But it felt wrong. How could he justify killing an innocent girl who'd done nothing wrong and who had not chosen to be this way?
While he'd been in such deep thought, he hadn't noticed that she was staring hungrily at the cow. "Would you like me to take you some place where you can get something to soothe that thirst?" he asked gently.

Delila looked at him as his voice brought her out of her trance. "Is there a place like that?" She asked. She pointed as she heard the banging again. "I think whatever you are after is in there." Where she was pointing was a storage closet of some kind. She tried to ignore the sound of the cows hearts racing, but as another bang sounded she couldn't any longer. She put her hands to her ears trying to muffle out the sound.

"I don't know, actually... I might be able to find some place, though... I'd just have to talk to a few of my contacts," Kyle replied. He followed the direction of her finger to the storage cabinet. He assumed it was a place where they stored feed and other supplies. "OK, wait right here. I'll just go get rid of the boggart, then we'll try to figure out what to do."

Delila's eyes swept the room trying to find something to drone out the sound but after the cows seemed the calm down she removed her hands then sat on the floor. She watched the man as she waited for him to get whatever he was after. She wondered where she would end up going to, she also wondered if she would be able to stay there as she hadn't been able to stay in one place before.
