Andrea huffed at being given detention. She had been able to get away with just having points deducted, until the Gryffindor girl had to go and open her big mouth. Stupid girl. It would be completely wretched having to spend time with her. As if the stupid essay wasn't bad enough. She sat, glaring hatefully at the obnoxious redhead. She hoped her stupid hair caught on fire.

Gilderoy's enchanting smile faded. He had almost been looking forward to writing the essay all about his favorite jam and other such things. But this essay would be a little bit harder. Still, he didn't allow himself to worry. Worry caused lines, after all. It simply wouldn't do to allow himself to develop wrinkles. He would figure it out somehow. "OK, thanks, Professor," he replied.

Charles rolled his eyes at Voltaire and his long-winded speech, but didn't say anything for a while. Instead, he spent a good deal of time sailing around the room, passing through the children's heads. He rather liked the sassy, impertinent redhead that Voltaire had chewed out. And the huffy little Slytherin girl reminded him of a young Isabella back in their days at Durmstrang.
"Nice, real nice," he said at last, floating through the redhaired girl's head. "Giving unreasonable assignments as punishment. Fabulous teaching style. You'd fit right in at Durmstrang. Personally, I quite like the redhead. She speaks her mind. And she's hot. Honestly, if I were ten years younger, and, you know... not dead..."

Natalie had had enough. Every time the ghost talked, Voltaire got upset and lashed out at the class, or he started acting crazy. But she knew he wasn't crazy. She could see him, as clearly as she could see everyone else in the room. Turning to face the annoying ghost, she stared at him with furious eyes. "You! Stop that right now! Don't you see you're making things worse? Why don't you go bother someone else! You're quite rude. Please let us finish the class. Some of us want to learn!"

Voltaire quickly turned his back on Charles and sat in his desk chair. What a pedophile! thinking these head strong little girls were...Ugh hot?! he felt like gagging. He wasn't even going to think of the implications Charles was saying about the snotty girl. he sat down and considered his next move. what should he do? send the students in pairs to the library? It he could just duplicate the book he had and pass that around, but thought he might as well explode it, he wasn't that good yet with that charm. The options weren't very good and he didn't have so much of class left before they would leave. He didn't have much other choice when Natalie finally couldn't stand it anymore. "Natalie could you come here please? thank you." he said calling her to the front of the class.

Charles froze. He spun around to stare at the girl, and felt their eyes connect. Why was it that she could see him and no one else could? "Wait... so the little miss can see me?" he said. "And hear me?" He looked at her for a very long moment. "Well, all right, then. Since you asked, little miss, I'll do it. But I can't seem to go anywhere on my own. I'll just go over in the corner until class is over." Feeling chastised, he floated over to the corner, allowing himself to hover in place a few inches above the ground.

Severus didn't understand why Natalie just turned and spoke to the back of the room. Maybe there was a ghost or something back there. He was curious and wanted to ask Natalie who it was, why they couldn't see them. whoever they were, they were rude, they had to be if Natalie didn't want to hear or sit through their talking!

Natalie was still glaring at the ghost when she heard Voltaire call her forward. Frowning, she glanced at Severus for a minute and stood up in her seat. Slowly, she made her way past the other students and down the aisle, until she reached Voltaire's desk. "Yes, Voltaire... I mean, Professor?"

Voltaire looked sternly, but the gave her a smile. he mouthed the words "thank you" and said "I think you might have a fever, Here take this slip and head to the nurse," it was just a pass, she could just go back to her common room if she wanted. He hoped she would feign illness, children were very mean, these more than most

Natalie gave a soft smile and nodded. "You're welcome." Accepting the pass from him, she feigned a cough so that she would appear to be sick. She realized how it must have looked to the other students when she began yelling at thin air. After all, they had apparently thought Voltaire was going mad, after he'd talked to the ghost.
It was odd, really, that no one else could see him. The fact that she could see him was not unusual, since she often saw things that others did not. But why was he following Voltaire around? She would have to talk to him about it later.
Gathering her books, she coughed again, then gave a little wave to Severus before heading out of the room. She only hoped that the annoying ghost would not go back to his rude behavior.

Voltaire had become attached to the little sprite, He watched her go and hoped everyone would leave her alone. there was something very wrong with Charles's ghost. It wasn't as tangible, but was still here. He didn't want to push the class with too many questions, it didn't seem they could handle them so he said "I want you to begin making an outline for your essay, for those of you who are exempt, draw or something. Oh I nearly forgot, Leo, you are also exempt from the Essay, I had forgotten you had mentioned the disarming charm. " he sighed and waited for the time to quickly tick by, it wasn't that there was that much of class left, it was about half way through the class and the students probably wouldn't mind extra time to work on their assignment.

Evelyn was not shocked at all that Rayne had spoken after so many other students were scolded for doing the same thing. Rayne had a tendency to get herself into trouble. Evelyn as well. But still, after listening to the Professor rant about everything and then give out detentions, Evelyn gave Rayne a surprised look. She might have expected such behavior from her friend. But not from her teacher. She made a mental note to never talk back to Professor Rothschild.
As the class continued, on a more somber note, Evelyn went back to her notes. She carefully wrote down the titles of the essays they were to read, cursing herself for not speaking up about her favorite jam when she had had the chance. This essay would take all night. And she already had loads of homework from her other classes. She wrote slowly, and nearly missed Natalie's outburst. She did happen to catch the end of it though, and noted that the professor thought her ill. That would explain her oddities. But not the professor's. Unless they were both ill. He would have had to stay until the class was let go before checking in with Madam Pomfrey. Evelyn hoped to not catch whatever illness they might be spreading.

Rayne's jaw almost dropped as the girl was given a pass to leave class. Was that what it took to get on Voltaire's good side? Acting as loony as he did? Well, now that she knew, maybe she'd start talking to invisible people. The sarcasm was thick even in her mind as she thought this. Utterly unbelievable. She was angry, and probably had a biased opinion because of it, but she sincerely doubted that the girl was ill at all. No, Voltaire was just showing favoritism now.
She shot a dark look at Evelyn... not directed at her friend, but to show that she was in a mood. She was also very close to speaking up again, and focused her frustration into the stupid outline. How were they supposed to learn how to defend themselves doing essays? What was she supposed to do in a real duel? Throw her quills at her enemy, and then scrolls of paper with spells and history written on them? Yes, that would avoid her an Unforgiveable curse for certain.

* I think we should finish this class up now! Please everyone assume time has passed and leave for "Your Next Class" Thank you!*
Voltaire stood and said "Class is dismissed." he smiled then and continued "Remember! when you bring your essays in, just bring them up front to me! Next class we shall see how well you did on your essays!" he said smiling. He hoped to make an impression, if they thought him Crazy, then very well, it was just another guise to work under. besides, he had to be crazy, he was married and with a son with a dark lord after him! ah yes! he did feel better and ready to talk to Charles.

Rori looked to Leo as Voltaire mentioned that he didn't have to do the paper. She gave him a smile. She didn't understand what happened during class one bit, but she knew that Voltaire and Natalie weren't crazy. Anyone who dared to say it out loud, Rori would correct them.
The next time her eyes fell on Voltaire, he said class was dismissed. She waited until a few people had passed before she stood up. Gathering her things she motioned for Leo to come on and slowly walked past Voltaire. "See you later Vol, er Professor," she said with a smile and a wave.

Voltaire gave her a nod, he didn't want the reputation to follow Rori out the door if he waved goodbye like he wanted to, he felt a little miserable. but waited for the rest of the class to exit. 'Yes! go you terrible children! leave! begone!' he had wanted to say joyously, but figured he would look REALLY crazy if he did that. so he stood and waited for the students to leave, wondering if the reason the words Stupid and Student weren't some how related or derived from the same Latin root or Germanic root.

Charles waited until the last student had departed, then floated over to Voltaire, his arms folded over his chest. Or rather, where his chest had once been. "Now, then, since you're finished terrifying your students and making a few enemies, what do you propose to do to help me?"

Voltaire looked angerly at Charles, he stood up and went to his door and bolted the door. Then for good measure he cast a silence charm on the door, the best he could do of course. then he went back to Charles "You Horrible thing you! I thought everyone could see you! How would I know I was the only one that can see you?! Natalie saw you so I thought everyone could! Do you realize you made me look like an insane person? And Natalie too! dear gods, don't you think the students won't pick on her for being a loon like the professor? " Voltaire ranted, then he rounded on charles again " Who and how Can I help you? Why couldn't you haunt someone that knows something about that kind of thing!" he asked him angry.

Charles was angry as well. "Well, how was I to know no one else could see me? I didn't know any better than you could! Only I figured it out faster than you did, seeing as no one screamed or freaked out when I appeared. Except for the little miss. What's the deal with her, anyway? She got some special powers or summat?" He would have sighed if he was able to breathe. I told you, I don't want to be here, either, OK? Clearly some strange force is at work and neither of us has control of it."

"Think you moron! you are or were a famous quiditch player! I thought they might be in shock. How many times have you ever had a swearing ghost of a former team show up in the middle of your classroom? " Voltaire yelled then took a breath, he smoothed out his hair, mussing it actually and said "Natalie is special, She feels more than one should be able to, You leave her the hell alone, she had enough to deal with without adding the angst of a dead man like you!" he had wanted to say 'loser' but thought it was going to far. "I haven't studied anything on souls or necromancy or any of that, I don't even know where to look! I thought you showed up just to get me and Isa talking again, I didn't see you again after wards, I didn't know! you didn't have to start yelling at me!" and making fun of me almost went without saying he thought, but he figured Charles was the insensitive type.
