"Really?" Severus was surprised that such an easy spell could be used against Inferi. "But you are saying that the fire needs to be hotter than that to get rid of them...OH but you're saying as a distraction. that makes sense then!" he said quickly writing down the useful information on the closest parchment to him, which was one of his old text books.

"You see?" Natalie said loyally. "He's brilliant. I bet he could teach you all kinds of things you wouldn't ordinarily learn."
She looked up at the front of the room at Voltaire. "So, what are we going to learn today?"

James noticed that he was pretty early for yet another class. He saw that Rori, some Ravenclaw boy he never met, Severus, and Natalie were already there. Good, no Lily. After that spill in Potions, James had been trying his best to avoid her. He wasn't sure if he could face her just yet. Sirius, Remus, nor Peter was in yet. He nodded his head to the professor and took an empty desk in the second row, away from Severus, knowing that whenever Sirius entered he would probably give him a hard time, as usual.

Peter didn't see James, Remus, or Sirius anywhere, so he didn't bother standing around waiting on them. He figured that he would catch up to them, or they would catch up with him. Walking in the hallway to dueling, a few people said hello to him, which was unusual. Maybe now, hanging out with the 'popular kids' would get him the attention he deserved.
Walking into dueling, he noticed that James was sitting there alone and figured that he should go join him. Peter took the seat behind James. "Hey," he said kindly.

After nearly tripping as she walked down the hall, Regina made it safely into the dueling classroom. She kept her head down, not looking around to meet anyone's eyes, just in case they saw her nearly trip in the hall. Regina never really felt comfortable when people just stared at her, hence why she pretty much kept to herself, unless she was around her best friend. She took a seat in the back of the classroom and looked up to the professor.

Lily walked into Dueling class, feeling nervous but excited. She wasn't quite used to the idea of dueling other students, but she knew that, as the wizarding world was getting more and more dangerous, it was becoming even more important to learn how to defend oneself.
She nodded politely toward the professor, then chose a seat close to Rori.

Severus started to see the class fill up. He always felt a flicker of apprehension at the amount of people that were in class, but dismissed it quickly and sat up as he finished writing in his book, then he tucked it away, knowing that Voltaire probably wouldn't call for books to be out, this was, after all, a practical class.

Robin entered the room and looked around quickly. She didn't know too many people, but she quickly recognized James Potter. He was sitting with another Gryffindor boy whose name she didn't know. She started toward him, then spotted Lily Evans sitting on the other side of the aisle from him. She'd heard about the scene between them in potions class the other day, so there was a good chance that James was going to be uncomfortable around Lily. She decided it would be a good idea to sit in a position that would block his view of Lily.
She walked down the aisle James was sitting, and sat down on the end, directly acrossn from Lily. Turning to him, she smiled and waved. "Hi, James!" she said.

James looked up to see Lily come in. His eyes followed her to her sit. To his luck, she didn't look at him. He didn't know what he would have done if she caught him looking.
A grin found its way unto James' face as Robin came in. As she blocked his view of Lily, James was slightly relieved but in a way, he wasn't. Everything would be alright. She was probably going to try and avoid him as well. "Hey Robin," he replied as she sat down. "I'm not sure if you met this boy behind me, but this is my friend Peter. Peter, this is my other friend Robin." James turned back to her. "So, how are you today?"

Robin smiled and waved at Peter. He was a little geeky, but he seemed nice enough. She wondered if he helped out with pranks as well. "Hi, nice to meet you, Peter," she said pleasantly. "I'm doing pretty well, thanks. So... what do you think we're going to do in this class, anyway? Are we actually going to duel each other, do you think?"

Gia walked quietly into class. She looked around to see if Katie was around, but didn't see her. She didn't really know most of the other students, and she felt a bit awkward about it. So she slipped into a seat near the back of the room and focused her attention on the professor.

Justine, fresh from yet another fight with Jason, stormed into class in a terrible mood. She kept trying to break up with Jason, but he just wasn't taking no for an answer. She was beginning to wonder how she was ever going to get rid of him. He was making her life miserable.
She chose a seat at the front of the room, knowing that Jason would never sit all the way in the front, even to be close to her. And she just didn't want to deal with him now. She sat down and wiped at her face, hoping no one would notice the tears in her eyes.

Jason practically ran after Justine. He didn't understand why she kept running away from him. Didn't she see how much he loved her? All he wanted was for her to spend all her time with him and stop hanging out with her loser friends like Snape.
As she headed to the front of the room, Jason was tempted to follow, but he held back. Sighing, he sat down near the back and stared at the back of her head.

Severus looked concerned for a moment at Justine. She had nothing but trouble from the beginning with Bluth and now she was trying to get out of the situation. Severus didn't really hold it against her, that she had no real choice but to start pulling away from everyone because of her situation, but this was ridiculous! He sighed and hoped Bluth got the message soon. in his head he hoped the professor would start class and end the foolish chatter.

Remus was running late. For some reason, today he just couldn't get himself organized and he felt like he was running to catch up all day long. He rushed into class, still carrying all of his books from the last class, then stopped to look around, spotting James and Peter in the second row. He hurried over to them and slipped into a seat on the other side of Peter. "Hey, guys, what's up?" he said.

Voltaire was happy to see a filling class. "Ok kids! I'm sure there are a few who will walk in later, but that's ok for today. Today we won't actually duel, but I thought we could all introduce ourselves to each other and then do some review, I'll cover what we'll learn, pass out a sylibus, and then I thought we could conjure some popcorn!" he said smiling. He of course was expecting a few questions, maybe even some parchement being taken out, but he hoped he wouldn't have a class of silent zombies!

Andrea, in a vicious mood as always, burst into the room and stormed down the aisle to a desk near the back. She looked around quickly, hoping to find a fellow Slytherin to talk to. But she only saw Severus, Justine, and Jason. Annoyed, she took out a piece of parchment and began to write to her mother about how miserable she was.

Amy walked into Dueling, relieved that she wasn't too late. To her luck, Sirius nor Kris was in class yet. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be glared at today or not. Taking a seat behind Lily, Amy sighed quietly. Maybe today wouldn't be so bad if she didn't have to see Sirius. She knew that she should stay away from him, and she was trying, but he made it hard. Sirius seemed to show up everywhere, and with that happening, she couldn't stay away from him completely. However, right now was a good time for her to be at ease.
"Hey Lily," she said brightly.

Post by Regulus Black on Jul 21, 2008 9:17:55 GMT -5
Regulus slipped into class. Hardly any Slytherins worth talking too where in class. Justine just seemed like she was too goody goody to be in Slytherin. Jason just seemed to be Justine's little puppy. Severus hung around some little Ravenclaw girl. This was a disgrace! One of these days, Severus was going to change. Regulus would help make sure of that.
The only person worth sitting beside and having a conversation with was Andrea. She seemed to be the perfect kind of Slytherin. Regulus smiled to himself and slid into a desk next to her. "Why, hello Andrea. How are you," he said with a charming smile.

Narcissa groaned. Great. Another bloody class. There wasn't anyone to talk to anymore! Bella and Lucius both left her alone at the school as of last term. However, she did gain Regulus, and that was a good thing. Even though he was a first year, he was probably the person she would talk to the most. Severus was one she would talk to as well, but she was going to have to break him of hanging out with that Ravenclaw girl. Now that Bella was going to be working as Rothschild's teaching assistant, Cissa was going to have to step up more.
She took the desk behind Regulus. "Hey Reggie, Andrea."
