The professor called on her and her hand lowered slowly. "Is this a test of some sort? Are we supposed to be taking notes?" Or are you just a nutter? She again looked around to see who or what he and Natalie had been speaking to, but couldn't find anything. She didn't think it could be a ghost. She was able to see th other ghosts just fine. And on several occasions she's had long talks with Nearly Headless Nick about his days alive.

"Voltaire was perplexed. "Well just put the out burst behind us and lets continue with class" he wasn't at all heartened by the expressions on the students. "Alright, so since you all were here last year, or even if you weren't , Does anyone know a spell that can trip or stop your opponent?" he asked to the class hoping that they would at least know A spell, not really needing the spell he taught last year. He wasn't feeling at uplifted as he had at the beginning of class. Damn Charles! then he thought better of it and decided not to curse the dead, even if he was floating in the middle of his class looking surely.

Charles rolled his eyes. "Oh, right, so I'm dead and forced to haunt you, and now you expect me to just sit quietly in the corner like one of your witless students?" He floated around so that he was facing Voltaire. "Look, I told you before, I'm not any happier about this situation than you are. I died, sacrificing myself fair and square, don't you think I deserve some pearly gates or fluffy clouds or some such rot? Not being stuck following you around like a lost puppy! Aren't you going to do something about it?"

Voltaire took a breath and pretended to stare past Charles, his face was set in a mean angry way. This wasn't how he expected his first class of the year. "So does anyone have anything to say?" as the silence had stretched past Charles rant. He was hoping for some sort of mercy, some sort of sign from whatever gods above or below would grant him some mercy, something to make the students just pretend, as Voltaire was trying , that Charles Mortensen wasn't floating in the front of the class, in their professor's face, yelling about how he deserved clouds and gates and heaven of all things. He looked close to livid.

Natalie watched helplessly as the ghost continued to rant at Voltaire. She could tell that Voltaire was getting angry and she wanted to do something about the situation. But she could see, judging by the rest of the students' non-reaction, that no one else could see the annoying ghost. If she continued to yell at him, people would think she was crazy... or at least more crazy than usual. If only she knew enough magic to perform a banishing spell!
Raising her hand shakily, she said, "Professor, perhaps you could teach us a banishing spell?"

As the idea was brilliant, It was a charm. He was having better luck with them, but it was unsure. He ground out the instructions "To banish something you have to do a flick away from the body or a sweeping motion away from the caster." He demonstrated without words and then continued "The incantation is *IS AT TOTAL VERBAL LOSS* " with the motion hoping against hope that it would work.

(The banishing charm is "depulso" ) "A banishing charm? A bloody banishing charm?" Charles yelled. "And you think that's supposed to work? I'm not even solid, you can't banish what's not actually there..." He was getting frustrated. If magic didn't work on him, how was he ever to get out of here? He didn't want to continue existing in this manner, it was humiliating. "Fine, you know what? I'll just go sit in the corner, like a little boy with a dunce cap on. But when this stupid class is over, you need to deal with this problem."

There was a throbbing vain in Voltaire's forehead. "Well, you get how it's supposed to work, And you're right Natalie, it would work at stopping an opponent but not for long, does anyone else have any other Ideas?" he took a breath and tried to continue ignoring Charles, not really realizing that no one else but Natalie seemed to see for the moment. He didn't know how off balance he was acting.

Andrea had been busy staring at Regulus. Seeing him in class every day was by far the highlight of her day. But as the professor began to act strangely, and the weird Ravenclaw girl started babbling, Andrea began to pay attention. It was fascinating, she was sure she was witnessing a breakdown. Raising her hand, she said in a snotty voice, "Professor, are you OK? If you're not well, you could just cancel class, you know."

"Thirty Points from Slytherin for your Cheek." It was going to earn him a reputation for being against Slytherin, but what a rude impertinent remark. "Oh I forgot, If your house had enough points, I could take thirty, But I guess You'll be the first house with Negative points this year." his eyes narrowed. If he had to, he'd be close to punishing the whole class, but he took another breath and worked to clam down further, having taken points however did help.

Andrea huffed in annoyance. Stupid professors. He was acting like a lunatic, but he was still allowed to deduct points? It wasn't right. She should be allowed to comment when the teacher was acting like a psycho. Annoyed, she decided to stop paying attention again and went back to looking at Regulus.

Jason couldn't believe that stupid whining girl had just caused them to go into negative points for the term. She was a disgrace to Slytherin. Annoying girl. He wanted to raise his hand and ask about the relevance of jam preferences and how they got to banishing spells so suddenly, but he didn't want any more points deducted from Slytherin. Still, if he'd been sitting closer to Andrea, he probably would have thrown something at her for being so stupid.

He calmed down, seeing that she hadn't been paying attention anyway, he sighed and still felt annoyed, "Miss? You, that just cost your house points, What spell would stop an attacker or an opponent from hexing you?" he asked, He wondered if any of his students knew, they all seemed muted, maybe because of his past anger. He wasn't close to how happy he had been, but he was at least not seeing red.

Leo didn't understand what was going on. He rather thought the professor was having some kind of episode and was trying frantically to get class back on track. Since he knew that Voltaire was connected to Rori, he decided to see what he could do to help.
Raising his hand, he said, "The most important charm in a duel is always the disarming charm. Or that's what I heard, anyway."

Evelyn watched in awkward horror as the professor quickly began to unravel, try to pick himself up, then unravel again. Lucky the rest of the class seemed as confused at what was happening as she was. But before she knew it they were discussing spells and Evelyn quickly rummaged through her book bag for a quill, ink, and a roll of parchment. She then began to scrawl notes down at random. Banishing spell - Flick away. She'd forgotten the rest already. Disarming charm - She tried to think if she knew how the disarming charm went. She looked aimlessly around, trying to think of it. Disarming. Disarming. Her eyes landed on Rabastan. He was disarming. Her cheeks flushed.

Rayne had a similar look of awkward horror, though she actually felt bad for the Slytherin girl who had lost points. She had been on the verge on saying something herself. Luckily, the other girl beat her to it.
She glanced at Evelyn, her eyes clearly asking what the heck was going on, but, for once in her life, she was careful to be quiet. House points made anyone behave.
She bit her lip, gauging the reactions of the other classmates, minus Natalie, and then she couldn't stop herself. "Who... who exactly were your banishing, Professor? And why didn't it work?" She assumed it hadn't since he had metioned how it was supposed to have gone. But no one in the room had been banished or anything.

He Sighed and tried again, "No one, Natalie ventured that Banishing spells could be used in a duel to stop or distract the opponent, she was partly correct that doing the spell could help, but it wasn't the exact sort of spell that would stop an attack. This young man here, Mentioned Disarming spells Which he was correct that they are important in dueling, but that is usually expected, But Ravenclaw has earned two points for good answers." he said his face back to normal colour and less ruffled now that Charles was floating on the edge of the class looked about as charming as an angry dog.

Rori watched Voltaire. Something wasn't right, obviously, but she couldn't just go up to him in class and asked him what was wrong. She noticed that Leo raised his hand to help Voltaire get class back on track. Disarming spell, what was it? She had just seen it last night when she was flipping through her book before she finally dozed off.
Rori wasn't for sure that she believed what Voltaire had said. He seemed to ruffled. She wasn't going to press the matter and became relieved slightly as he seemed to be calming down. Rori raised her hand. "Er, professor, isn't Expelliarmus, the disarming spell," she asked a little shyly as she started to take notes.

Voltaire looked gratefully to his adopted Daughter, "Very good response, but like I said it's often expected, Some of the spells I frequently use are "Impedimenta " or "Locomotor Mortis " Can Anyone else add to those spells?" he asked hopefully. He had a short smile on his face and hoped the students would get over Charles's appearance and continue with class now.

Severus Raised his hand and waited for the Professor motion to him and he added "Petrificus Totalus, Or the spell Botaro, You showed us that one last year, You also showed us the Effax spell, that lulls the other wizard or witch into slowing down as well..." he slowly put his hand down and waited to see if that would help his house any. He thought Slytherins would know when to hold their tongues! what a stupid girl, he should talk with other older slytherins to teach her a lesson in keeping her fool mouth shut. he shot her a glare, Even he was better liked than that nothing girl!
