Remus was already sitting on the bed when Kris got there. He looked at her, trying to figure out how she was feeling. He couldn't tell if the meeting had gone well or not. "Well, what happened?" he asked at last. "What did he say?"

"H-he said the reason you don't remember me is because you were so traumatized from the attack by Greyback... h-he said you were like a wild animal for a while and that I was sent away but it wasn't suppose to be permanent..." Kris trailed off to let everything sink in as she walked to the bed she had been in the night before.

Remus frowned. He could believe that he'd been traumatized by the attack... even now, when he had nightmares about it, he couldn't remember very much of what happened. Everything was just a dark, hazy, unseen fear, followed by pain and confusion. But the rest didn't make sense to him. "A wild animal?" he repeated. "How?"

"I don't know but he said he had to chain you up and you didn't even remember Mom and Dad. After you got better he was going to bring me back but thought since you still didn't remember me that it would be better if I stayed with Mom's friend." Kris covered her face as she started crying, everything was so shocking and she still couldn't grasp the fact her letters were never sent and her mother's friend lied about her being happy.

Remus put his arm around her. "Don't cry," he said softly. "It's over now... you're here." But he knew that she needed to get her emotions out of her system, so he didn't push her. Right now, he knew she just needed him to be there for her.

Remus was stroking the back of her head, trying to soothe her, but he stopped when he heard this. He tried to peer down at her face. "Who lied? You mean... the woman who raised you? She said you didn't want to go home?"

"Yes.. she didn't send my letters to him and Mom.. I wanted to go home... all the time I was there I wanted to go home... the only friends I had were the animals I drew.." Kris said as her voice and body shook.

"That's terrible!" Remus gasped. "Why would she do something like that? How could she force you to stay there, when you wanted to go home, and Dad wanted you to come home, too? What was she thinking?"

"Well, of course. I won't even let you go back now," Remus said firmly. "Even if Dad didn't want you back here, I would insist on you staying. But if Dad wants you here, too... then there's no reason to go back to her. Especially if she was lying all that time. What's the deal with this woman, anyway? Who is she?"

"Her name is Norah Lake... she treated me like a mother should.. I think she might be the reason I forgot Mom." Kris said, she didn't remember her ever using a spell on her but she might have done something else.

Remus frowned. "I'm glad she treated you well," he said. "But I don't like to hear that she lied to you. Maybe you should write to her or something and find out why she did that. It seems kinda creepy to me... like she lied because she didn't want to let you go. Do you think she thought of you as her real daughter?"
