Flying(Sirius)

[Kris Lupin]

"I-I keep thinking a-about what might have happened if y-you wasn't here." Kris said with her face in his shoulder, she tried to be calm but she couldn't.

[Sirius Black]

"Well, for one thing, if I wasn't here, you probably wouldn't have been leaning over your broom to kiss me," he said lightly. He couldn't help but think it was all his fault. They'd been goofing around in mid-air, which was not really a good idea. "But really, don't think about what would have happened if I wasn't there. All that matters is that I was there. And there was no way I was going to let you fall."

[Kris Lupin]

"I-I don't think I want to fly anymore... a-at least not for a while." Kris said as she calmed down a bit, she wondered how he was able to stay calm through all that had happened.

[Sirius Black]

He nodded. "I don't blame you," he said softly. "But you shouldn't wait too long to give it another try. Maybe a week or two. But if you wait longer than that, you might never be able to do it again. One of my cousins fell off a horse, and for a couple weeks, she was afraid to even go near the horses. But then she decided she didn't want to live in fear, so she decided to get back on the horse. She still rides every day."

[Kris Lupin]

"Ok." Kris said her grip slightly loosening "I-I'm tired Sirius... I-I think I need to lay down."

[Sirius Black]

Sirius nodded. "Of course. Yeah, you should rest." He pulled away from her carefully and got to his feet. "Do you think you can walk yourself, or do you want me to carry you?"

[Kris Lupin]

"I don't know if I can walk.." Kris looked up at him, she wanted to go lay down but she also didn't want to be by herself.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius nodded quietly. "OK, I think I can carry you," he said. Even though she was small, he decided the best thing to do would be to put a charm on her to make her a little lighter, since he wasn't much bigger than she was and the walk to the castle was a long one. He took out his wand and tapped her lightly, but it took him several tries to get the charm right.

When he was sure that the charm had worked, he bent down to pick her up, holding her in his arms securely. "I'll just take you to the common room, OK? I'm afraid I can't carry you all the way to your room, because of the charm. Unless you want me to take you to the hospital wing?"

[Kris Lupin]

"The hospital wing is closer, but when we get there will you stay?" Kris asked, she was still shaken up and didn't want to be alone.

[Sirius Black]

He nodded. "Yeah, of course I'll stay," he answered immediately. "I won't leave you. I'll stay as long as you let me." He pressed a light kiss on her forehead as he started carrying her toward the castle, leaving their brooms behind.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris held onto Sirius, "I'm glad I have you." She whispered.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius smiled softly. "I'm glad I have you, too," he said. "Now close your eyes and try to relax, OK? We'll be back in the castle soon and you'll be able to rest." He walked as quickly as he could back to the castle.

Kris nodded and rested her head against him and closed her eyes. She was so tired she thought she might fall asleep in his arms.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius didn't say anything else for the rest of the walk to the castle. He was still worried about Kris. She'd been through a traumatic experience, and it was just one of many she'd had in her life. She was already so sensitive and emotional, and he wasn't sure how much she could take.

Finally, he entered the castle and walked up the stairs to the Hospital wing. He laid her on the first empty bed he came to and then tried to cover her up with the blankets. "We're here, Kris," he said softly.

Kris opened her eyes a little, she helped him to cover her, she hoped no one would think she was sick. She took Sirius' hand and smiled slightly before she closed her eyes again.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius settled down next to her and held onto her hand. "You can sleep now," he said softly. "You're safe here. And I won't leave you. Just rest. Everything's going to be OK." He kissed the back of her hand softly.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris nodded slowly as she started to relax, she felt the darkness of sleep close in on her. Her grip on his hand loosened as shefell asleep.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius watched as Kris drifted off to sleep. Reaching down, he brushed her hair off of her face with one hand. Lying there, she looked so fragile, it almost hurt to look at her. Sometimes he wondered what a guy like him was doing with a girl like her. She was too sweet, too emotional, too sensitive. He had always been the opposite of sensitive. He liked making jokes and playing pranks. He liked getting into trouble, exploring, and doing just about anything that was dangerous. Was he just destined to hurt her? He frowned at the thought and leaned back on his chair.
