"Oh, I'm all in favor of that," Cassidy said. "I like your face just the way it is. It's a nice face." She blushed, realizing what she had just said. "I'm sorry, that sounded lame." She looked down at the floor for a minute and then back up again. As she did, she realized he was still staring at her. "Oh... you're staring at me. Did I say something wrong? Or... do I have something stuck in my teeth? I was in the middle of breakfast when I came running over here."

"Oh, uh...no. You're fine. It was nothing. Sorry." Tyler quickly apologized, looking down at the ground. He gave a nervous chuckle. "I was just...never mind. My mind just kind of drifted off for a second." He didn't know what he was doing. He had promised himself he wouldn't get involved with her like this. "Well, I'm sorry your breakfast got interrupted when you saw that...that thing. But I'll figure out something to do about Vincent on my own if he comes. That way you can get back to your morning. I don't want to make you late." He smiled again, only half-heartedly this time. He didn't really want her to go, but he needed to get away from her for a little while so he could stop and tell himself that he was just being stupid again with the whole ordeal with her. He wasn't about to make an idiot out of himself right in front of her.

"Oh, no, it's no rush," Cassidy said. "I have some more investigating to do... I was going to stop by Crystal Jacobs' house to see about the third Death Eater. And... my breakfast wasn't very good. I'll probably stop by Madam Puddifoot's for a muffin or something instead. But, I imagine you want to get on with your breakfast, right?" She stood up and held out her hand to help him up. "If you have any problems with Vincent or anything, don't hesitate to let me know. I'm a bit annoyed with Vincent after he treated me like his secretary, so I might even feel brave enough to yell at him," she added with a slight laugh.

Tyler took her hand and pulled himself up and off the floor with her help. He chuckled lightly after she commented about Vincent. "Well, at least that makes one of us. I'd be too afraid to intentionally piss him off. He's already at my throat. If I did anything of that sort, he'd probably single-handedly come in here and torture me to death. Not that he won't want to once he sees the Daily Prophet article anyways." He apprehensively added with a small shrug. "Although, I'm not sure I have all that much to worry about. Hopefully the guy is smart enough to keep himself under control knowing that I'm still due for a trial. But I guess you can never be too sure."

"Yeah, you're probably right," Cassidy said. "I probably won't say anything to him, either... since he is my boss and everything. I mean, if I lose my job, I certainly won't be any help to you then, will I? But still... I wish I could stand up for myself, you know? I've always just kind of let people walk all over me. And I really do need to be stronger, if I'm going to help you."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. But I think you'll eventually get to the point where you'll feel comfortable standing up for yourself and voicing your opinions and objections. I mean, I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I'm just gonna be honest. I think you just need some more friends and some more time to get rid of your shyness. It's OK, though. I could use some more friends too. I've never really been much of a people person either." Tyler replied, smiling assuringly. "But, I've got to hand it to you. You really had me quite scared when you came in here all angry. If you showed other people that you're not going to take any rubbish from them- like you did with me- I think they'd probably think twice before they push you around again."

"Really? You think so?" Cassidy said, surprised. "I didn't even think... I just charged over here and I was so upset that I didn't even have time to be nervous or to wonder what I should say... it all just came out." She gave him an embarassed smile. "I'm sorry if I was harsh. And... I'm sorry I let myself believe that stupid article. I should have known better. But maybe that's what it takes for me to stand up for myself... I need to get really angry."

Tyler grinned, "Yeah, as long as you don't go around hurting anyone who doesn't deserve it in the process. But I guess that means the only way for you to defend yourself also involves you making a move before thinking. Of course, that's not always such a great thing..." He shrugged again. "Anyway though, about the whole article nonsense... It wasn't such a big deal. You did the only expected thing- you just got angry and confused and you reacted on that. I completely understand. It's got to be frustrating for you at this point where you're not entirely sure you can completely trust me. And when some kind of thing like that articles comes around, it doesn't really help matters. It's really OK." He nodded, smiling comfortingly.

"No, I just feel bad. I mean, here you are and no one else believes in you, and all of a sudden, I come rushing over here and start yelling at you. I can't imagine what that must have felt like." She took a deep breath and looked at him. "I don't know why... but something is telling me to trust you. It's just that sometimes... I let other people influence me in the wrong way... I never should have listened to Charles. I probably wouldn't have believed the article if it hadn't been for Charles and the things he said. But I do believe in you. Even though everything else seems to say that I shouldn't."

"Well, thanks for that. I know it's not easy to trust the whole story. And I also know it's not easy to be stuck between two different people telling you two different things. But I think you're doing the right thing." He tried to reassure her. "It's probably a lot easier to believe negative things about people than it is to believe positive things. But I appreciate that you're determined that I'm telling the truth. Not a whole lot of other people share the kind of solid determination you have. And ironically, all you need is to have that same kind of determination and belief in yourself and you could really help a lot of people out." He added.

Cassidy blushed. "Thank you," she said shyly. "You know, when you put it like that... I almost believe I can do it. It's been a long time since I've had someone who really believed in me. I mean, Evangeline believes in me, but she's pretty much the only other one." She smiled. "I guess in a way, we're both helping each other, aren't we?"

"Yeah, I guess we really are." Tyler nodded, fighting back temptations to let all of his most recent feelings towards her out right then and there. But he knew he couldn't. He couldn't risk breaking all the trust they had already built up to this point. He couldn't put her on the spot like that at the time. Instead, he simply chuckled nervously. "Maybe everything I've gotten in to has helped me out more than it was supposed to." He said, grinning a little awkwardly. "Otherwise I wouldn't have... met you. I'd probably be on some other dumb mission, waiting for something even somewhat interesting to happen in my life and light up a different path for me."

Cassidy smiled and felt strangely warm inside. "I'm... I'm glad I met you, too. For once, it was a good thing that I'm the only one of the aurors who works out of the office, because it meant I was there to take your case..." She trailed off as she heard a banging at the door.

Vincent had read the article, and, without telling Emily, stormed over to Tyler's house to confront him. Now he stood outside, banging furiously on the door.

Tyler was continuing to smile at her when she stopped talking and turned towards the door. Someone was knocking rather roughly on it. Whoever it was, definitely wasn't happy. "Oh, boy. I hope that's not who I think it is." He said, frowning as he walked up to the door and peeked through the glass hole. "Damn it. It's Vincent." He turned to Cassidy. "I guess I'll have to let him in. We might as well settle this soon." He slowly unlocked the door and opened it, waiting for Vincent to- no doubt- come barging in.

Vincent burst into the house, waving the paper in one hand. "You no good, rotten, lying scum!" he yelled. "I can't believe you'd dare to apologize to my fiance, then come out in an interview and reveal the truth! I should have you thrown in jail right now and let the dementors have their way with you!"

"Hey, hey, hey. Settle down. There's a logical explanation for all of this, I swear." Tyler threw his hands up, backing away from Vincent. "Don't go jumping to conclusions. That paper only reveals about the farthest thing from the truth that there is. I never said anything that was in there. Bambi- the reporter- she took everything I said out of context." He quickly explained.

"Oh, right. Sure. That's what they all say," Vincent said doubtfully, crossing his arms over his chest and staring at Tyler. "Give me one reason why I should believe you. I was there, remember? I saw you attack Dumbledore. And I don't believe your innocent act."

"Vincent, please," Cassidy said. "He explained everything... the article was a complete lie. The reporter distorted everything... don't you see... he's trying to get off these charges... he'd have to be stupid to then brag about lying to the paper. Obviously this reporter was just looking for a scandal, so she made one up!"

"Yeah, I'm not lying. Like Cassidy said- if I am who you say I am- why would I want something like this published? If you really don't believe me, go throw some veritaserum down Ackart's throat. See what she says. It'll be nothing different from what I'm saying now. She asked me for an interview and I decided to go along with it- thinking that maybe I finally had the chance to actually tell the truth. I told her everything I've told you before and she turned it into that." Tyler argued, pointing at the newspaper. "I don't even know why I have to deal with you. You seem to always be seeking answers and the truth to everything, Vincent. But then when it's stuck right under your nose you always seem to change your opinions and believes to fit your sorry desires. It doesn't matter anyways. You can't do anything about it. But if you want to curse me now- go right ahead. You'll be on trial before I am for taking me out and assaulting me without orders. I'm still due for trial, remember? You can't touch me. So I don't know what you think you're doing here."
